I love being active (playing fetch, going on walks) and taking the time and attention to bring out the best and quirky parts of their personality <3 I work from home, so I am flexible with times/dates/working on the weekdays. I am a morning person, so am able to take them early mornings if needed! I take care of pets both at my house and at client’s houses. I have a large grass front yard, and a fully fenced off house. I also live next to a park and can walk them there everyday. I have a large Bernedoodle and a medium sized Lagotto Romagnolo at home to keep them company. About: Hi! I'm Arika, and animals have pretty much been my entire personality for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I cared for just about every kind of animal imaginable—dogs, cats, horses, chickens, rabbits, hamsters, and even reptiles. If there was an animal that needed love (or someone to clean up after it), I was usually first in line. Needless to say, my parents never had to wonder what I'd be doing with my free time! For the past 5 years, I've worked in animal rescue, primarily with cats. As an Office Manager and Foster Coordinator for a nonprofit rescue, I've cared for hundreds of cats of all ages, personalities, and medical needs—from tiny bottle babies to spicy feral kittens, seniors, and cats recovering from illness or surgery. Let's just say not every cat has appreciated my help at first... but I've learned that patience (and a few treats) goes a long way! While my rescue work has focused on cats, my love for dogs has always been just as strong. I volunteer with a local dog rescue where I walk and exercise energetic dogs, helping them burn off some zoomies while preparing them for adoption. I've also assisted a friend with a dog training program in Bakersfield, where I gained experience with basic obedience, leash manners, and confidence building. When my in-laws head out of town, I become the designated ranch manager for their five dogs and six horses. It's a full house, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Between the dogs demanding belly rubs and the horses reminding me breakfast should have been five minutes ago, there's never a dull moment. I'm comfortable caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities—from puppies who think every walk is a treasure hunt to seniors who just want to take their time and sniff every flower along the way. I'm also experienced administering oral medications, eye medications, topical treatments, and subcutaneous fluids when needed. I'm currently exploring becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) because I genuinely love learning about animal health and want to continue building on the experience I've gained over the years. At home, I have two cats and a rescue dog, so I know how nerve-racking it can be to leave your pets with someone new. My goal is to make that as stress-free as possible—for both you and your pets! I'll treat them like family, keep their routine consistent, and send plenty of updates and photos (because let's be honest... you're probably going to miss them more than they'll miss you 😉). Whether your dog wants to power walk, sniff every tree in the neighborhood, play fetch until your arm hurts, or simply enjoy some quiet company, I'm happy to match their pace. About: As a pet owner myself, I know it can be hard to find a sitter that you can trust to take care of them. I have 3 dogs at home; a small Shi-tzu, a young husky/german sheppard, and a old retriever mix. I also have 2 young cats and I take care of a neighborhood stray. I have always had a soft spot for animals. My mom and I have fostered stray cats, dogs, and watched pets while family friends were on vacation. I may not have much formal training, but if hired I will carefully watch, play, walk, and hangout with your pets, as well as, keep you updated in the process. Every morning I take my 2 dogs out to go, then I fill up their water bowl and let them back in. I give them their breakfast around 10 and then take them on a walk around the park near our neighborhood. We play throughout the day and they keep each other company while I do chores and homework. I feed them around 4:30 or 5 each night and they get a glucosamine biscuit before we go to bed. Sometimes we go on a second walk before bed as well. I have a fenced yard and two friendly fur babies to keep them company! My cats are friendly but if your babies dont like cats, mine will stay in my room. About: I’ve always been great with dogs and quickly pick up on their personalities and needs. I’m comfortable caring for younger dogs with lots of energy as well as older dogs who need a gentler, more patient approach. About: I started having a genuine love for all animals after I got my two puppies Simba and Solomon. They are four year old energetic, lovable golden retrievers, so I have experience handling medium-large sized dogs. I’m also the designated dog walker for when my cousins decide to go on vacations and leave their dogs behind. I am currently a full time construction project manager. This gives me a flexible schedule to check in on dogs throughout the day as needed. I don’t have a set start or end time for work so it’s very helpful to adjust to different schedules for each dog. I have two golden retrievers who mainly stay in the backyard but also are brought in the house sometimes. They are trained to stay off the furniture and places that we want to keep clean like my kitchen and bedrooms. They know by the tone of my voice of when I’m playing around with them versus when they need to listen to my instructions. About: I have about 3 years experience at a no-kill animal rescue shelter. We cared for both dogs and cats, bathing, feeding, walking, cleaning, the works.
