He also kept us posted on little things around the apartment, including the Roomba, making sure it was emptied, reset, and charging so it could keep running while we were gone. About: Last year I said goodbye to my 17 year-old dog Max, just a few months after my cat Scotty passed away suddenly from kidney disease. Thankfully, Scotty's sister Star is still with me and thriving, but I really miss being around and caring for other animals. About: What’s the most important thing all dog owners want to know before entrusting their dogs to a stranger? Well first of all I’m from Jersey. I’ll play with your dog, make sure they’re happy, take them on a walk, not lose them, and feed them only what you tell me to feed them. No human food, I promise. Unless of course that’s in your list of food to give them. Of course hydrate them as well. I know the do’s and don’ts of a dog’s diet since I have 2 of my own. I’ve also been fostering dogs on and off for the past 3 years. I am known to be reliable and responsible, so I can assure you that you can rest easy with leaving your dog(s) in my care. Or if you have a cat, I also get along super well with them since I also have 2 of my own! I work from home so I do have some flexibility or if you need eyes on your little one for long hours I will also be able to do that. I do have 2 cats so I have pet gates up to separate my cats from any dogs. The dogs get free roaming of the living room which tends to be enough for my two dogs plus any friends they’ve had over. Routine in my home is key. At your home, I’ll stick to your routine and respect your house rules. Whatever you require, it will be respected.

Because I work from home, your pup gets a calm, dog-savvy human nearby all day — frequent yard breaks, play, and belly rubs instead of hours alone. I'm comfortable with puppies, seniors, medications, and high-energy dogs, and I keep my numbers small so every dog gets real one-on-one attention. I work from home on a flexible schedule, so your dog has company and supervision for most of the day — regular walks, play, and potty breaks, not long stretches alone. I offer boarding and daycare and take just one family's dog or two at a time, and I'm glad to keep your dog's normal routine for meals, naps, and bedtime. I always mark as unavailable any days I have travel or major time commitments that will keep me away from home for more than an hour or two, so they will have constant care while they're here. Your dog will have free range of my 3 bedroom home, detached studio, and very large, securely fenced backyard full of fruit trees. I don't have pets of my own right now, so your pup gets the whole space and my full attention. I'm happy to crate or set up a quiet separate area if that's what your dog is used to, and I keep things calm and low-stress. I have a doggy door for dogs who prefer to let themselves in/out at their leisure. I converted our detached 2 car garage into a recording studio, where I work, so we have the quietest place in town in the event we have to make it through fireworks or if your pet prefers quiet or isolation. Both the house and studio have their own separate HVAC systems, so they'll definitely stay comfortable. I have always slept with my own dogs, so happy to co-sleep with yours if that's what they're used to, but also glad to maintain whatever rules you generally set for them in regard to being on beds/furniture.

Throughout my life, I’ve opened my heart to many a pooch, including a beautiful epileptic Dalmation, a feisty pocket Shih Tzu (that one of my students brought to school in a backpack), an adorably lazy Bijon-Maltese mix who came to stay for a weekend and stayed 10 years -- and most recently a spirited 13 year old Terrier mix that we brought home after his person died unexpectedly. All were loved and doted upon until they crossed the rainbow bridge. The smaller ones vacationed by car, truck, and plane and were with us 24/7. I’ve often cared for my friends' dogs and am known for giving good doggy massages. I’ve also shared my space with an African Sulcata tortoise for the last 17 years. I work from home and have a very flexible schedule. I own a small business that allows me to come and go easily, allowing for long walks and/or lounging around. I have a fenced yard, leashes, bowls, a medium sized dog crate if necessary, lots of healthy snacks and lots of time for walks and doggie massages. Because Chica is part of my home, I also want to make sure every dog who stays with us is comfortable sharing space with another dog. Since she has separation anxiety, we make sure someone is always with her, which means guest dogs also benefit from having companionship throughout the day. I have a flexible schedule and only care for one family's dog(s) at a time, allowing me to give them my full attention and adapt to their routine whenever possible. If I ever anticipate being away for a short period, I will always discuss it with you beforehand so we can make sure it works for your dog's needs. I live in a quiet first-floor apartment with a small fenced patio. For safety, any time spent outside on the patio is always supervised, and dogs are kept on a leash unless we've agreed otherwise. If you prefer that your dog doesn't use the patio, I'm happy to follow your preferences. I tailor each dog's routine to their individual needs. Whether that means quiet walks, extra potty breaks, or more time to explore, I'm happy to adapt to what makes them feel most comfortable. If your dog enjoys getting out, I can also take them to nearby parks, and I regularly enjoy spending time in nature with my own dog. Above all, I want your dog to feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while they're with me. I'll follow your instructions closely, keep you updated with photos, and make sure both your dog and Chica are comfortable throughout the stay.

I've lived in a house with 3 dogs for my entire life, and love to play, walk, relax, and explore with them. Since I was 8 I've been actively taking care of pups (feeding, walking, bathing, grooming, and cleaning up after them), so I'm definitely confident with taking care of dogs. My earliest memories were with a Husky, Doberman mix, and Super-mutt, and then I grew up with my GSP, Australian Shepherd, and Chi-Poo (who is now the happiest 14-year-old old lady). In 2017 I met my first friendly street cat which sent me on a journey from “strict dog person” to “cat lady.” I have since adopted two cats, Bean and Raisin, and fostered more than a dozen adult cats and kittens. I also work closely with an organization doing TNR in my community--trapping neighborhood cats and spay/neutering them. I have a 2nd bedroom that I use as both my office and cat zone with toys if your cat needs his/her own space but am also a friendly home for a rambunctious cat. Bean is very passive and chill, while Raisin just wants to make friends and play. I’m a trusted cat mom and foster mom and will cuddle your fur babies just like you would if you were home with them! I know how important it is to a pet parent's peace of mind while away from their animal to know how they're doing so I always make sure I send pictures and regular updates. Please note that due to my cats, I only board other cats in my home—no dogs. And I only board one client at a time. Rover doesn't give the opportunity to specify this. I can do drop ins for other animals in your home no problem! I work from home and can occasionally have period of hiatus from work with lots of free time to dedicate to doing drop ins and being there for any boarding guests. I am very strict about indoors only for cats given my history with TNR. Also because I'm an experienced trapper, if somehow your cat escapes my care, I have the skills and equipment and knowledge to get them back for you. I don't leave boarding guests alone with my cats without supervision, even when sleeping, unless enough time has passed that I can trust them all together.
