“I can't recommend Jacquelyn enough! My senior pup was injured just prior to her stay and had to be given medication and be on restricted movement. Jacquelyn asked questions as needed and provided daily updates. The home itself is really calming, which I'm sure Gertie appreciated. Overall great experience.”

About: I am a grounded and compassionate person, who absolutely loves animals! Dogs and cats are my specialty, but have cared for goats , chickens and bunnies! Ive been filling my free time dog/cat walking and house sitting for the last 6 years, and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit. I connect right away with my fury customers and they are always excited to see me. I provided daily walks, plenty of play time, treats for tricks and lots of love . My schedule is usually open and I am able to overnight house sit if needed. I think your furrbaby would be overjoyed to have me as there care giver and friend! My schedule is open at the moment, and im always looking for any chance i can get to play with animals. My calendar is always up to date and my response time is within a couple hours. Animals have special kind of souls, they speak to us without words and unconditionally love us. I try to read what your animal needs and comfort them while you are away. Every animal is different and comes with their own personality, i like to nurture that part of them while helping them feel safe and loved.
“We took our fearful little guy, Charlie, to Mariah and Neil’s house as a get- to - know- you- while -Mom- and Dad- are present visit. This was a first venture for our doggie Charlie and us, not a traditional dog-sitting event. We really liked Mariah and Neil. We were impressed with their kindness and awareness in dealing with dogs in their home. We felt they were honest in describing Charlie’s expected behavior in first being boarded with them, and we loved that. We know our dog well enough to know that leaving him in a strange new house wouldn’t immediately (particularly for a fearful dog like Charlie) be all roses and chumminess. We did leave him for about 15 minutes alone with Mariah and Neil (“ fearful parents, not so much fearful dog!”) and Charlie reacted just as Neil and Mariah predicted. Their home feels warm and loving. They have two really adorable pups who are obviously loved and well-adjusted. We would recommend Neil and Mariah as carers and will definitely be trying to book them again soon!”

“My dogs were comfortable with Jessie and I appreciated her flexibly about drop off and pick up times. Her photos and welfare updates were great especially since this was my first time leaving my girls overnight for two nights. I would want Jessie’s help again next time I plan more exploration of the great outdoors in the Humboldt county area.”

About: I have three pets, two dogs and one cat. I am responsible for feeding them, replacing the pee pads, cleaning up the litter, and walking the dogs. I have had my dogs for over ten years and they have helped me through tough times, and I want to help other dogs who need help whenever the owner is busy. My cat follows me wherever I go and climbs on my shoulders like a parrot, and my dogs come to me when they are scared. I am available every day including holidays (I rather hang out with your pets than be with my family, don't tell them). However, I am a college student. On Mondays, I'll be unavailable from 2:30-8:00 p.m. On Tuesdays, I'll be available by 1:00 p.m. On Wednesdays, I'll be unavailable from 12:30-4:00 p.m. On Thursdays, I'll be unavailable from 10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. From Friday to Sunday, I'm free. I am someone who is emotionally attached to animals, so I will do everything I can to make sure your pet is safe and healthy, such as not letting them go outside by your request, keeping them away from toxic and poisonous foods, and keeping a sharp eye on them to make sure they don't hurt themselves.
“Stari was an awesome sitter for our special needs pooch. She sent us regular updates and even shared photos of Chloe enjoying walks on the beach. Very sweet and professional. Highly recommended.”

“Halley was absolutely amazing! She took such great care of Roxy, my Great Dane who, let’s be honestly, is an absolute handful. I’ve honestly never seen her so happy after a weekend away from home! 10/10 :)”
“Outstanding care, a True Dog whisperer. Sequoia Humane Society hired Mark to care for Browner an d Odie over the Thanksgiving holiday - Two large dogs! Both are known to struggle with other dogs, including each other. I was honestly preparing for this to simply be a safe, calm stay...what we got was something truly incredible. From the very beginning, Mark asked all the right questions about behavior, needs, routines and safety. It was clear he understood these were not "easy" dogs and approach their care with thoughtfulness, patience and professionalism. I encouraged him to try socializing them only if he felt right about an opportunity. To our complete surprise, Brownie and Odie became best friends almost immediately in his care. This is something we have not been able to achieve in a shelter environment and seeing that transformation was nothing short of amazing. This experience has opened new doors for both dogs and given us real hope for their future success in foster and forever homes. Both dogs had the time of their life in Mark's care. We are grateful for his kindness and opening his home to our animals during Thanksgiving and the day after. As Executive Director of Sequoia Humane Society, I can confidently say I would trust him again and without hesitation recommend him to anyone looking for an exceptional caregiver for your animals...especially dogs!”

“Took such amazing care of our little dog while we were on vacation in Hawaii. Took her for walks daily and sent us photo updates too! We felt comfortable knowing she was in good hands!!”

“Sonja provides a wonderful environment for dogs and is a thoughtful, knowledgeable sitter. Although our puppy’s boarding experience didn’t work out due to his separation anxiety, I still want to leave a positive review to support her business. It’s clear she genuinely cares about dogs and considers their long-term development. When our pup grows into a confident gentleman someday, we’ll definitely look forward to coming back.”

“5/5 stars. Would definitely rate higher if I could. I had to leave my pup with Celeste for the weekend while I flew out of town. She was super accommodating throughout; from taking her to get a new collar (at my request) from petco to pushing back her own schedule to drop off my pup to me at the airport after I had been delayed. All around awesome and easy going, I will definitely be using again.”

“Thank you so much! Marlee made this experience so easy and followed my instructions very well. My cat was in great spirits when I returned home and the pictures with updates she sent me brought me great peace of mind. I’ll definitely be rebooking :)”

About: Every cat I’ve known has its own distinct personality. But their needs are not that different: clean fresh food and water, clean environment, and good, clean fun. I can meet your favorite feline’s needs while you’re away.

“Maddie went above and beyond what I would expect for a cat sitter! We had just started our vacation when Maddie contacted us regarding an infected puncture wound in our cats ear. Knowing our cat for a very short time (he takes some time to warm up to new people), she was still able to successfully treat his wound and we returned from our trip to a fully healed cat. What a relief! We greatly appreciated the extra mile Maddie went to ensure we returned to two healthy cats; even though we were aware that stuff can happen to pets when on vacation. We plan to book Maddie for another trip we have planned!”

About: I have always had animals as pets in my life. I care for your babies as if they were mine. I am gentle and very caring person. I take pride in my work and would love to meet your pets. I’m retired and have plenty of time available. I recently moved to McKinleyville from Sonoma County, looking to establish myself with new clients in this area. I take care of your pet in your home as you would. I will respect your home and follow care instructions carefully. “Bailey was very personable and also great with my detailed instructions about how to care for my cat and kitten! She sent me picks and reassurances, and I trust that my animals felt well cared for. I highly recommend her!”

“Ashley was lovely! It was very reassuring to know my fur and feather babies were in such good care. Ashely provided regular updates and pictures, and kept my home clean for my return. Thank you, Ashely!”

“I am so grateful for Ashley’s understanding and care. She was willing to extend her time to help care for Midnight while I was taking care of a personal matter. I look forward to hiring her again.”

About: I've had lots of cats as roommates over the years and have done extensive house sitting for folks with cats. Every animal has their own personality and character and I just try to follow their lead, meet them where they're at and let them get to know me at their pace. For the past few years I have house sat and cared for a family with two cats for about 2 months each winter, as well as shorter stays throughout the rest of the year.

“We had a fantastic experience with our Bailey! She took wonderful care of our kitties during drop-in visits and gave us such peace of mind while we were away. We really appreciated the thoughtful updates and photos after each visit—it was so reassuring to see our cats happy, comfortable, and well cared for.”

“Wow! Expectations exceeded. Carter took superb care of Bogey with walks and in home visits. Plus, the pics were incomparable to other pics I’ve had a few years ago with Rover. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
About: I've had animals all of my life. My parents kept getting me more animals because they said as long I was taking good care of them, then I could get more. I would keep journals about their well being( Funny, I know) The point is, I love animals. I have had dogs, puppies, cats, lizards, hamsters, chickens, horses, ferrets, and chameleons, I have 2 dogs of my own and they are my children. It's of the utmost importance to me that any animal under my care feels very loved, and taken care of. I know it can be traumatic being away from your animal, and it can create anxiety. I will do my best to make sure your baby is feeling good and happy! I currently make my own schedule and own my own massage therapy business. The further in advance I know about the sitting job, the more of a chance I will have of being able to clear my schedule for it. My schedule is pretty flexible! I will follow the directions you give me to a T. I know our animals get used to routine, so I will do my best not to disrupt that routine. I am hands on, and want to make sure any animal I care for feels loved and paid attention to.
“Hailey was so sweet to our beloved cat, and she went above and beyond to get an item from the store when it ran out. We’ll definitely keep her in mind the next time we need a sitter!”

“Whitney was super flexible with us and was great at communicating while we did some non-dog friendly hikes. Will definitely trust her again with our Luna any time we visit the area.”

“Stari & crew were great! We did a couple of day time dog care while camping in the area (so I could do a couple of non-dog friendly activities with the kiddo). They were so welcoming and friendly and flexible! I didn’t wanna leave the first day and when we got out to go back the second day. Highly highly recommend Stari!”

About: I have experience with dogs and cats, young and old, easy and "difficult". I am very adept at walking and caring for reactive dogs who can have a hard time with other dogs and/or humans, and do my best to avoid any situations that can trigger reactive behaviors. I'm also happy to help keep up any training routines, I'm pretty proficient in general dog training, but I know it always comes down to the individual dogs for what works best. I often have people remark about their pets who usually don't warm up to new people immediately taking a liking to me! I'm also totally respectful of animals who do need time to get to know new people and always meet them where they're at, so more than welcome to accommodate those who need more introduction time. I've had dogs in the family my whole life, and have lived with many cats as roommates, and I've loved them all. I've done extensive house sitting everywhere from big cities to rural areas, for periods of time as long as two months, caring for animals as well as the house and surrounding property. My schedule is very flexible so I can make sure I have plenty of time to give my full attention to your animal friends, I live in a sweet quiet neighborhood in Arcata near the bottoms that's great for regular walks, and I have a car and am happy to take pups out on more special adventures too! I always check in about what's best for each dog, and can tailor care around what their usual schedule is with walks and feeding, what kinds of play they like best, and any training routines I can help reinforce during our time together. I make sure to take extra care with reactive dogs and avoid any situations that may trigger them as best as possible.
About: Hi, I’m Virgo (formerly Jeremy)! I’ve been dog sitting my friends’ dogs for about 10yrs, and working for a dog trainer for about 2yrs. (My parents tell me I’ve loved dogs my whole life, but I can only partly confirm.) A few things I like about dog sitting is discovering their personalities and learning how to interprete and anticipate their needs. I’m not intimidated by high-energy/high-intelligence dogs either! I like the challenge of keeping up with them. It also tricks me into staying active and feels less ridiculous than Zumba. 🤷🏽♂️ If there’s anything else you wanna know just ask? Uhh, this thing says I’ve gotta write 50 more words to move on so I’m just gonna keep typing stuff until the limit runs out I guess? I’m a substitute teacher, so my schedule is highly flexible! I try not to schedule subbing jobs during engagements, but they overlap seamlessly when it does happen. I live alone with a fully enclosed backyard and space for a crate if needed! I prefer to sit in the pet’s home though because I like to keep your pet’s routine and environment familiar to make them most comfortable!
“I would definitely recommend Mariah and Neil for pet sitting. Let’s face it little dogs are sometimes a little more high maintenance. They really seem to understand small dog behavior, which I appreciate! They are great communicators and are fast at responding, which is so helpful. Thank you for letting my pup stay.”

About: Dogs have been apart of my life since I was 8 years old. Personally I took care of a Boston terrier and that is the only breed that Ive worked with in my house. Other breeds that I’ve had experience with our my neighbors dogs including different types of Pitbulls and huskies. I am very comfortable with larger dog find them to be huge lovers. I am welcome to any size dog i know I can handle and take care of them based on my personal experience with my own pets and neighbors pets. My neighbors pets have been in my life longer than the Boston terrier that we got as a family dog. My family has now had three Boston terriers throughout my lifetime. I am currently a full-time Cal poly Humboldt student, but I have 1 to 2 hour breaks between most of my classes and I’m free in the evenings for dog walking throughout the day. I am currently moved out of my parents house so I don’t have any pets in my home but I have a fenced off backyard and is spacious living area if they need to stay overnight that is OK. I have plenty of places to walk right outside of my home. In the clients home I would be able to do any pet care that they may require or want such as walking be brushing. Any of the grooming that the dog me and on top of taking care of them. In the clients home I would be able to do any pet care that they may require or want such as walking be brushing. About: I have lots of experience with animals, from working at humane societies to later as a vet tech. I have always had a dog of my own and more recently adopted two cats. I currently work for a public school and soon will be on summer break. I am looking for small jobs that I can do while off work from my primary job. I will follow explicit instructions on how you want your critters to be cared for. I will make sure they are safe and comfortable by ensuring that they have everything they need such as any food or water left out for them.
“Mary was great! She was able to take our last minute booking and patiently worked with introducing our anxious dog to hers. She even kindly let our toddler chat with her about everything toddlers chat about (bugs he saw, how he likes the beach and halloween, letters, Spiderman, etc.) when he wanted to come pick up his pup and say hello.”

About: I’m a Lauren Wendt’s wife and will be available to work with her clients when she is away for field work. Her clients can expect the same level of care and comfort with me. I am only available to sub for her. I mostly work from home, and when covering for Lauren I will be available all day, except during times when I can coaching at the university (Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons). Our home is very large, with multiple rooms and kennels to give dogs private safe spaces as well as communal time. We also have. Very large fenced yard, and dogs will be supervised in the yard.
About: I’ve had animals since I was a kid and have fostered numerous pets (mostly cats). I have accommodations for dogs and cats with safety being my top priority. I only work 2-3 days of the week. The days I watch pets are days they have my full attention. If they are active pets, playtime, parks, and hikes it is! If they are more mellow, then binge watching TV and cuddles is the name of the game. I have a fully fenced back yard with a dog house and runner line if a dog is a known escape artist. I have doggy gates and a sectioned off area for cats security and privacy.
“Lucy was awesome. She sent me pictures so I could see how echo was doing and kept an eye on him. I was a little disappointed that he wasn't happier to see me when I came to pick him up lol but I guess that's a good thing XD he seemed to have had a great time. She was very welcoming and her dog is super friendly. 10/10 I would highly recommend her and if I'm in need of a dog sitter again I will definitely be sending her a message.”

I’m skilled in administering medications and providing personalized care, no matter the breed or age. Growing up with a variety of animals, I’ve developed a deep understanding of their needs. My patience, knowledge, and love for all animals set me apart, ensuring your pets are not only cared for but truly comforted. Pet care is my top priority, and I’m available almost full-time to meet your needs. I’m only busy two days a week, so the rest of my time is dedicated to providing focused, attentive care for your pets. With a flexible schedule, I’m ready to ensure your pets are well-cared for whenever you need! Most of my services are provided in my clients’ homes, where pets are comfortable in their own space. I offer drop-ins and dog walks, ensuring pets get the attention and exercise they need. While I don’t have a yard, I live in a pet-friendly community with great walking spots, and I’ll take dogs out every 1-2 hours for bathroom breaks and exercise. For boarding, I’d follow the same routine, offering regular walks and playtime. If clients have a fenced yard, I make full use of that space for outdoor activities and fun.
About: I own a 7 acre property that is a short drive up Fickle Hill Rd in Arcata! It includes a private trail with access to the community forest and a very large fenced in yard. I have a 1 year old female German Shepherd (Sabine) who is very well trained and LOVES to play with other dogs. I’ve been working with animals my entire life but started officially dog sitting and walking about 10 years ago! I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes and personalities and feel comfortable and confident in my care abilities. Locally I have done in home care both long term and short term. Now that I have this large property I would like to do more of a doggy day care! I am capable of providing training, grooming, as well as daily exercise and enrichment activities! I am free Monday - Thursday every week as I work from home as a ceramic artist. On the weekends (Friday - Sunday) I work as a waitress. I offer care from my home where I have a very large fenced in yard with plenty of space to run around and enjoy the outdoors. As well as a large dog friendly home for those rainy days. All plants and trees on the property are dog safe! I also have a private trail that is connected to the community forest trails where I take Sabine (my dog) for daily walks. Sabine also loves the beach so we do take weekly trips out to the dunes in Samoa! I’m a dog lover and feel that I am very attuned to understanding the way they communicate. Your dog will look forward to playing around the property and spending time in the forest with Sabine and I!
“I was so happy to find Paulina after my last Tahoe Rover friend left the area! It can be difficult to find someone without a dog themselves, and my dog LOVES people but is dog selective so we prefer her to be the only pet staying. Paulina thank you for being super flexible and having great communication and response time. Bella came back tired and happy. I will definitely be reaching out for more stays this winter and am looking forward to having you watch Bella again this weekend!”

“Jamie and Katarzyna were great! They were super professional and attentive, they asked great questions and obviously cared a lot about my pet’s experience with them. Their place was fun, friendly, and safe for our 8 month old puppy. Their dog was also excellent and was a great playmate. He will be spending more time with his new friends there soon!”

About: I've had large dogs since 1997. Currently I have 2 amazing dogs. A 3 legged great burnese, and a 1.2yr old burnese Mt. Dog. They are sweet and wonderful dogs with great manners and are super dog friendly. I also have 2 cats. Rick and Morty. They are a pair. Also very sweet and affectionate once they know you. They are indoor/outdoor 24/7 but avoid dogs. The love of my furry friends reflects who I am. I have 5 acres. This allows my dogs to mostly roam free as they stay close to home. It gives other dogs the opportunity to have a place to run around and play with other good dogs. There are also multiple leads amongst the property, as well as a gated and covered outside area if your pet isn't used to either of those situations. I spend almost all of my days working from home. So other than the occasional errand, I'm home. Otherwise, I exist for you and yours. My pets have water and food at all times. It's under a covered area so they are able to stay in the shade if they like. Otherwise my dogs are free to roam as they generally stay on the property. My property is not fenced. However with this undertaking dogs can be placed in the covered area when needed. They can be leaded if that's what you want. As well they are welcome in the house at any time. Your pets are free to relax anywhere they like. My dogs are very sweet and friendly. My 3 legged dog is not one to get to excited as he only has 3 legs. For the right dogs, my property is a paradise.
“Sonja is the best! Her beautiful place is not only dog paradise, but also a treat to see for two-legged parents as well. My dogs LOVE it there, and came home exhausted. Perfect for my long work days. She and Mike could not be better humans, so kind, loving, and very intelligent. I am so grateful that my fur-babies and I connected with them. Don't miss out on this rare "unicorn" opportunity. Thank you again, Sonja.”

I’ve had my fair share of bites and scratches, and am able to work with animals with some behavioral issues no problem. I am responsible and treat each animal as if it's my own. I'd be able to provide the best care, and not just care, but love and compassion as I know when pets are away from their owners, it could be a stressful time. I have reliable transportation and would be able to feed walk and clean up after pets. I’m also familiar with administering oral medications and topical medications. I have experience caring for animals with illnesses. As my previous dog had many breed related issues including diabetes. I also had a very sick cat I helped bring back from severe liver issues by syringe feeding and administering oral medications. I’ve house sat for friends with small animals and even snakes. I’ve cared for chickens before as well. I know animals sometimes have accidents in home as well and I have no problem cleaning up after them and cleaning the space. I have a pretty open schedule at the moment. I have a client on Fridays from 10:30am-1:30pm and Saturdays from 10:30am-2:30p. If you need services during any of these times, my current clients are flexible and always willing to work with me and move things around. I’d be able to care for pets in your home like it was my home. I also have clients I clean for, so a clean living space for people and pets important to me. One of my cats likes to try and eat anything he can get, non edible items especially, so I’m familiar with ‘baby proofing’ and keeping everything out of reach. I’m very aware of my surroundings and will keep a close eye on your pet. I don’t have social media and I’m not constantly distracted by my phone either. I’d be more than happy to update you as I’m there however and send many many pictures.
About: I have always loved working around pets. I used to work at the pets hotel doggie day camp in Pet Smart. Having a dog of my own, I know what it takes to properly care for them , clean up after them, and take them outside when needed. What sets me apart is I would go the extra mile if needed of course to really ensure that the dogs I am taking care feel comfortable around me and they are excited when I come to the door to take them out for a walk. I am completely available during the week and weekend, full unbridled availability. walking pets would be great for my exercise along with the physical health of the dog of course (or cat). I had a cat and a dog that I regularly care for daily, I have a set time for feeding the dog and cat at 5PM every day, and of course breakfast at 8 AM before that, and I would make sure to have my dog go out back when needed and to clean up after him, and we also have his usually vet appointments as well. For my cat, we fed him three times a day like my dog and clean his litter box and refill it twice a day.
About: As a little girl my family and I believed I would become a veterinarian. Before I could walk there are pictures of me snuggling up with my first cat, Shiva. I remember by three, I had fully transitioned her from an outdoor (borderline feral) cat to my best friend. At seven, we got my very first dog. Maggie, a black, white, brown and very spoiled Welsh Corgi. My passion and admiration of animals never went away, it only developed into a curiosity. How can I be the best leader to my animals? Nowadays, I have a year old, beautiful (high energy) female Australian Shepherd who I absolutely adore. We are often found on the Hammond Trails by our house, College Cove, or hiking in the old growth forests. I have partially owned (family dogs) almost 10 dogs throughout my life, from Corgis to Bourbel, South African Mastiffs. Also so far, I have tamed 4 feral cats who enjoyed very nice lives. Overall, making animals safe, comfortable and happy is definitely part of what I am living for! :) I’m currently in college pursuing Health Sciences, majoring in Nursing. I still have a ton of free time. I am always able to make time to exercise my dog and I for a few hours daily. However, I do not take my dog with me while pet sitting or dog walking clients pets. My dog gets long walks 6-7 days a week, ranging from an hour to four hours per day. On rainy days, we play scent games indoors and do extra training. She is brushed weekly and groomed monthly. She has plenty of toys and gets healthy treats. I am very flexible, what you say goes. I am partial to more high energy dogs and clingy cats. However, I love short walks and snuggling up on the couch to watch movies too!
