“I’m so grateful to have found Monique! From the start, she was friendly and welcoming. I don’t usually leave Dexter with anyone outside of family, but Monique completely put my mind at ease - both before and during his stay. Her communication was fantastic; I received regular updates without having to ask. I was also able to visit beforehand for a meet and greet, which was really reassuring. When I came to pick Dexter up, he was having such a great time that it took him a moment to even notice I was there! It was clear he’d been treated like part of the family. I can’t thank Monique and her family enough for looking after my boy so well, and I’ll definitely be using her services again! 😊”

“This was the 2nd time Honey has been on her own little holiday at Diane’s lovely home and couldn’t ask for a better dog sitter. Highly recommended always can relax knowing she’s being loved and cared for with updated pics and messages even a birthday message for my daughter from honey was so lovely and thoughtful. Thank you again will definitely be back for more dog sitting in the future.”

“Ruth was fantastic looking after our dog whilst we were away. She kept us up to date on how things were going and sent us photos so the children felt reassured that everything was okay. Highly recommended.”

“Pinar and her family took such good care of our springer and cockapoo while we were on holiday, regularly sending photos and videos of the boys and even going to pets at home and cooking boiled rice and potatoes for one of the dogs when they had an upset stomach.”

“Definitely recommend Bonnie and her family. She kept me up to date with pictures and what Chrio was up to during his overnight stay. Chrio was being very spoilt and could see that he was being well looked after. She definitely made me feel at ease. Thanks again. 😀😀”

“Lisa was calm and confident with our Border terrier Clover. From the photos she sent I could see Clover had a wonderful time with her. I’m very grateful her for her professional and gentle care. I have no hesitation in recommending Lisa and will certainly use her again.”

“Victoria is an amazing lady. She catered for all of Megs needs and more besides..Meg adored staying with her and family would not hesitate to leave her again. Thankyou Victoria 💐”

“Charlotte and her partner have been great with Chilli our German Pinscher. Anyone who knows the breed will know they can be highly strung and it is a credit to Charlotte that whenever we have picked up Chilli from a stay he has seemed comfortable and relaxed. We will continue using their services as long as they are happy to have Chilli back with them.”

“Well what can I say , we have a very happy pup returning home , jan went above and beyond with looking after Nelly, she was walk twice a day and most importantly loved , we will indeed be returning to Jan for the best of dog sitting experience”

“Such a kind and thoughtful woman. Our dog is allergic to Christmas trees, and Andrea was so accommodating, that she moved her tree away from any areas our dog had access too. We got the feeling that nothing was too much trouble for her, and we're very grateful that she could take in our dog at such short notice. We would definitely recommend Andrea and her beautiful dog.”

“Rocky spent the night for the first time Lillia gave me a regular update in the evening also in the morning, he seemed very relaxed when picking up, would use again and would recommend as Lillia very friendly.”

“Sylvia and her husband did a fantastic job of looking after my Pointer Hudson and put my mind at rest before leaving him with them for 12 days. Sylvia obviously loves dogs and done everything possible to make sure Hudson was happy and settled during his stay, I received twice daily pictures and updates of them having walks and fun together, Sylvia even contacted me if she was unsure whether Hudson would be happy to do certain activities like go to the small lake area close by. If you are looking for a loving and truly caring person to look after your pet I honestly don’t think you will find anyone better that Sylvia and I shall definitely book her next time I have to go away. 10 stars from us.”

“I would 100% recommend Gemma and her family. Gemma responded really quickly to my request, invited us over, listened and understood our tricky spaniel and his anxieties. They were not phased at all and Chester loved their dog straight away and they were off in the garden running around. They took him on adventures to the park and also for a lovely beach day, and sent lots of photos. I honestly could not have felt happier leaving him anywhere. Such a lovely friendly family and their children loved Chester and made a fuss of him too.”

“Absolutely amazing !!!! Very nervous leaving Max for the first time. James and Marie were fantastic, they made me feel like Max was to be looked after like their own dog. We received regular updates and some great photos. Max made a new best mate with their dog. We will definitely be using them again for next year and whenever required. Highly recommended !!! Thanks again James and Marie”

“Jasmine was an absolute legend with looking after my boy Baloo. She went above and beyond to reassure me even before dropping him off to stay with her, she met us first down mousehold heath and then let me view her lovely home. She totally eased my separation anxiety by providing daily updates and photos of my rascal of a dog which then I could fully enjoy my holiday and feel relaxed throughout. She even washed all of the tuppperware containers which contained dog food it was so kind of her. She had him from 20/04/24 to 01/05/24 with no problems at all. My boy looked happy and content in all of the photos she provided and when I went to pick him up he looked as healthy and happy just the same as the day I dropped him off round hers. I will definitely be using her service again 100% satisfaction. I highly recommend her worth every penny 😁👍”

“Steve was absolutely amazing with Leo and Kobe, I cannot recommend him highly enough. Both dogs have different temperaments and needs and he was able to adapt to them straight away. Both dogs came back very happy and relaxed after a great week. Really appreciated Steve’s communication and reassurance throughout, thank you, Steve!!”

Penny had a great time on her weeks holiday with Steve and little Logan. This was the first time Penny had been looked after since she has been on medication. Steve made sure he followed the routine which was reassuring. She came back well balanced and in good health. We will definitely use Steve again.
Amy and family did a fantastic job making Marvin feel at home! I think movie night was the highlight of his holiday….. He has returned absolutely exhausted from all the playing and attention. Great updates provided and extremely flexible on drop off and pick up times!

Fantastic service, met my dog Buddy and immediately made both him and me feel at ease, he had a great day and came home very happy. Cannot recommend enough, I received regular updates and communication to let me know how he was, every picture showed him having a whale of a time playing or cuddling on the sofa. 10/10

Crina was brilliant from start to finish. She is clearly a dog lover and Frank had a super time with her. She sent us regular updates and pictures and he was really happy wagging his tail all the time. Would thoroughly recommend Crina and will definitely use her again if available.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
- Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates
Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
