“Thomas was Fantastic! He made sure to send us updates and picks of our pups daily and made sure our house was taken care of as well. We would strongly recommend.”

“Miriam was fantastic! She made sure the pups were well taken care of and did not have to worry about a thing. She was absolutely awesome and we will for sure be booking with her again.”

“Melissa is THE BEST. I cannot say enough amazing things about her and her ability to care for an animal. As we all know, our pets are our babies and she resonates with that! I received numerous photos AND videos of my pup every single day. She took time to take him to his favorite store and let him pick out a toy. Melissa has been my biggest blessing and BEST EXPERIENCE through this app and I couldn’t recommend her enough! I did not have a single worry while I was away on my trip! Thank you, Melissa, for having such a big heart for fur babies!!!! 🩵🩵”

“Laura was fantastic! Timely updates and pictures, genuinely loves animals, and takes great care of your fur kids and home giving you peace of mind while you’re away. 10 out of 10!!”

“Alexandra did such a great job at taking care of our dogs in our home. They loved her and were very comfortable around her. She updated us through out the day and included pictures. We highly recommend her and we will be using her again.”

“Mary Ashley did a great job looking after my 5 dogs for a week while I was out of town. I’m pretty sure they thought she was their new mama. I wouldn’t hesitate to have her look after them again. She is responsible, patient and caring. The dogs loved her and everyone was relaxed, happy and well taken care of. All in all a fantastic pet/house sitter.”

About: Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I have my own cat who is 8 years old. I have also watched dogs and cats within the family for years. I am here for your animas needs I work a part time job right now and go to school. I can work around your schedule, weekends or weekdays. We can work together. I only have one indoor cat. But I will do whatever you need your animal to do. I will work around your schedule and do whatever you need me to do for your animal.

About: I started pet-sitting at ten with my twin, quickly becoming the neighborhood’s go-to for pets, plants, and house care. I love checking in, feeding, walking, and playing with animals. As a recent college graduate missing my flatcoat Apollo, I’m comfortable with high-energy dogs, especially hunting breeds. My job takes up most of my day, so I'm available early mornings before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. I am flexible during lunch if I have a heads up. I provide in-home pet care, visiting your pets at their home to feed, walk, play, and give them attention. I follow each pet’s routine closely to keep them safe and comfortable, and I treat your home with respect while ensuring a clean, secure environment.
About: I’ve taken care of animals since I was 10. My family and friends have relied on me to walk, feed, bathe, and stay overnight with their pets. I would be a great help and it would be an honor!! I have 2 dogs & 2 cats of my own as well. I work remote full time in Marketing with a lot of flexibility. Because of this, I have a lot of time throughout my day to go on pet walks and bathroom breaks. Working remotely also allows for overnight stays when needed as long as there is a wifi connection! My dogs and cats are all fed day and night, played with often, and cared for as needed. I’m very experienced with animals so I know how to cater and take care of them well.
“My pups were very happy in Brittany’s home. When I picked them up they were clean and happy. Brittany is very thoughtful and tried to cater to my pups personalities. She and her family are so sweet.”

“Marleigh is hands down the best sitter I have ever used! I came home to happy dogs and my house extremely clean! I would recommend her to anyone and look forward to using her in the future!”

“Isabella is amazing! She took such great care of our nervous dog and you could tell they had a blast all weekend. Will definitely book with her again! Thank you Isabella!!”

“I cannot possibly say enough great things about our experience with Kelly. She was great with our last minute booking, sent lots of pictures and videos, and made sure my dog had the best time staying at her house. I originally had just requested a basic sit, but Kelly went above and beyond to make sure my pup had a blast.”

“Seven took great care of my two Siberian Huskies and my home. From the moment I met Seven he was very kind and laughed easily, so I felt very comfortable leaving my pups and home in his care while I went on a Valentines gettaway with my family. He was very patient when I was still packing after he arrived. He took my dogs for walks, one at a time, even when it was raining. My home was clean when I got home and the dishwasher was emptied. I loved the pics he sent too! One of my dogs usually howls a lot when I let them in from outside, but he was pretty quiet. Which let me know he was content and had spent time with Seven. Thank you very much!! I would hire Seven again, and recommend him. He's a wonderful pet sitter!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Tougaloo
Knowing our four furbabies are loved and SAFE is priceless to us. So thankful to be able to count on Sidney and her mom to care for the most important things in our life. They also take wonderful care of our home! We wouldn’t be able to travel without having them to trust and we’re very grateful.

I cannot possibly say enough great things about our experience with Kelly. There are no words to express the great feeling that you have when you know your pet is taken care of and you do not have to worry about them. terrell not only pick them up from the vet. He left their bedding. He went back to get them. He came and let them out when the lights were out and they were very afraid. He showed pictures at every point and I don’t know how or why we did not know about this service before if you want someone who’s going to take care of your pets like they are their own. I recommend Terrell this is an excellent service that I have nothing but 5 Star praise , and I don’t know if Champion and Ozzie would love anyone anymore than Terrell. Thank you so much Terrell for taking care of our boys.

Gizelle was an amazing pet sitter and housesitter for us and our mini homestead. I felt completely comfortable with her taking care of all of our pets and our house. She was very responsible and caring, sent us a detailed update on all of the animals each day, and left our house cleaner than it was before we left!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tougaloo walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tougaloo maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tougaloo choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
