About: I am very good at sticking to routines, I make sure to double check all the steps and be extra careful around dogs and what they might need. I am currently going to college and will be available every weekday in the morning and afternoons. I am also available weekends in the afternoon and evenings. I try to make them as comfortable as possible with the least amount of stress, and while I don't spoil them (unless the owner says to do so) I do treat them with an abundance of love and care!
“Ruby stayed in my home while I was out of town for work. She took amazing care of my pups, python, and plants while I was away! Came home to a clean house and happy critters, will definitely book with her again!”

“Becky did great with our highly reactive/protective Decker Rat Terriers. I was super anxious that all Cooper would do is freak out and bark at her for the entire four days we were gone and she was house sitting for us. He was all calmed down in a couple hours and was totally normal and sleeping with his head in her lap by the end of the first day. House was clean and she brought my very heavy UPS delivery up to the house, which I didn't expect at all. Highly recommend!”

About: I've cared for people's dogs, cats, fish and homes for a couple of years in the Lacey, WA area. I work remotely so most days I can be with your pets all day and I have stayed in homes for up to two weeks. I love animals and will play with your furry family members, take them for walks, give them medicine and stick to the routines you have established. I love gardening and am happy to water plants while you are away. I work remotely so as long as you have wifi, I can stay with your pet(s) during the day! I can stay with your pets any day/night of the week. I will follow your routine, take your pets for a pup cup if allowed, or just hang out and play and snuggle in your home. I work remotely so I can easily take your dog(s) for walks or play fetch in the yard on breaks. I am comfortable giving injections and other meds if required. Of you need me to take out garbage bins or water plants, I am happy to do that as well. I will leave your home just as I found it, ready for your arrival.
“Nancy provided extraordinary service to our family. She drove to our RV to meet our Jack Russell Terrier, Missy, and stayed with her for hours while we enjoyed a coastal bike ride. Missy requires special attention due to her age and medical conditions, and Nancy went above and beyond to lovingly care for her. When Nancy visited a second time, Missy was excited and happy to see her. You will not be disappointed if you choose Nancy for your next pet sitting assignment.”

About: As an experienced dog sitter, I go beyond basic care by truly understanding each dog’s unique personality and needs. I have a natural ability to read their body language and adapt to their moods, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and secure while you’re away. Whether it’s administering medications, following specific dietary plans, or providing enriching playtime and walks, I tailor my approach to each dog’s routine. My calm and attentive demeanor helps even the most anxious dogs feel at ease, and I maintain clear communication with pet owners for peace of mind. Having cared for my own senior Pomeranian, Zeus, until he was 14, I am particularly attuned to the special needs of older dogs, including administering medications and adjusting routines for their comfort. I currently have an year and a half year old Yellow Labrador Retriever named cooper, so well experienced with puppies I’m currently home full-time, so I have a very flexible schedule and can give your pets lots of attention throughout the day. Whether your dog needs frequent potty breaks, long walks, playtime, feeding schedules, medication, or just extra cuddles and companionship, I’m able to be there consistently. I love getting outside for walks and making sure dogs stay mentally and physically happy while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I treat every animal like they’re my own and take the time to learn their routine, personality, and needs. I’m experienced with dogs of different ages, energy levels, and temperaments, including senior dogs and puppies. I always keep a close eye during walks, potty breaks, feeding, and playtime to make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in a calm environment.
“Amanda is amazing with my two dogs. One of them has separation anxiety and he was calm and playful the entire time we were gone. Amanda sent us regular updates. We plan to book with her again.”

About: I have experience with a variety of animals. Yes cats and dogs, but I also have experience caring for small livestock, poultry, and small exotics. I can confidently care for any and all animals brought my way. I'm a former 4-H kid and have grown up around animals, so I love getting to care for animals and always provide top-notch care. I am graduating from college and will be most likely unemployed during the summer, so I will have tons of free time to spend with your pets. I literally have nothing else going on minus occasional trips out to spend time with friends or volunteer places. So I can make your pet's schedule fit around mine easily for the next few months! When I am house and pet sitting, I treat my clients home and pets like they are my own space/my own pets. I am very respectful of the space I am in and I shower all animals I am taking care of with love and affection. I always want to do a meet-and-greet beforehand with the owners present so the animals will know me (and hopefully be more comfortable with me) before I am suddenly staying in their home. I do everything I can to help pets feel comfortable with me in their space.
“Candi did an excellent job of taking care of our many pets. The dogs have activity trackers and all doubled their activity during the week. They were happy and well loved during our vacation. The house well maintained, plants alive after a warm spell and communication was exactly what I needed to feel comfortable during our time away. In addition to watching and entertaining our 3 dogs, she took great care of our goats and chickens. We would definitely ask Candi to help us out again. We finally feel comfortable leaving our animals and getting away. Thank you!!!”

“Devyn watched my dog somewhat last minute while I attended an event. I got home later than expected and she had stayed with him, which means a lot to me. I would definitely have her watch my dog again. Thanks Devyn!”
“Evan (and Quinn) were great! They took care of our older, high needs dog and cat. They always send lots of pictures and even had to endure a power outage at our house while they were house sitting.”

“Bryan was awesome! He took really good care of our dog Bella. This was our first experience with hiring a dog sitter and it exceded our expectations. Bryan was very pacient, observant and kind with Bella. Bryan would give us updates throughout the day which was great. Definetly recommend Bryan he wont dissapoint!”

“LeeAnn was a great pet and house sitter for our weekend away! We booked LeeAnn last minute and are so pleased that we did. She took the time to come over before we left to go over our picky cats food routine and updated us with how he was doing while we were away. LeeAnn is communicative and reliable. We will definitely have her back to watch our cat, Dr. Pepper, again!”

“Sophia was so wonderful!! She was very sweet, sent me consistent pics of my corgi with great communication, & left my house looking just how I left it. Couldn’t recommend her enough!! Thank you ❤️”

“We had a good experience with Madisyn! The house was left spotless and communication throughout the stay was great — she sent updates, pictures and was easy to reach. Our one note is that she was out quite late one evening, which we weren't expecting. I'd recommend discussing schedules and expectations upfront, as she is a popular sitter with other jobs. I would still consider booking again, as we discussed that issue and she was very responsive. Thanks, Madisyn!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Tono
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 631 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Tono. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tono walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tono maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tono choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tono. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
