“Ashleigh and family took care of our 12 week old Cairn Terrier puppy while we took a day trip to visit family out of town. She seemed instantly at ease with him, her daughters were obviously very good with dogs and we had little doubt our pup would enjoy his "camp" experience. He did and even made friends with their pug. We had been looking for a sitter during the week and gladly would go with Ashleigh if it was easier on the commute. Zero concerns and I highly recommend trying them out.”

About: UPDATES! Due to my Husbands career change, I will be the main person that will be caring for your animals. He will help if needed or if any dogs come to our home. My husband and I have a lifelong experience with dogs. We both grew up with dogs. I had a Golden Retriever and he had a Labrador Retriever. We have experience with all different types of pups! We are a team and work together to love and care for every dog we care for. We have dedicated ourselves to learning all about dogs, their social behaviors, and how to keep them happy and healthy. My goal is to one day become a professional dog trainer. I guarantee after a day with me and my pup your dog will be happy and tired. :) UPDATE! Our schedule has temporarily changed due to my husband getting a new job. We will still be available for boarding but drop ins and walking will have to be limited to weekday evenings and anytime during the weekend. This will be the case until summer! Someday I would love to care for dogs as my full time job but it’s going to take some time. 🥰 We have a fully fenced in yard with a privacy fence. We have a very energetic and friendly Golden Retriever to keep your dog company. We have 2 kids who are big animal lovers who will love and play with the dogs all day! I am trustworthy and will accommodate your dogs schedule and needs whether i have your dog for the day, walking them, or just dropping in to check on them.
“This was my first time leaving my pup Reuben with a sitter and Zoe was just the sweetest! She made me feel so comfortable leaving Reuben with her! He seemed like he had a nice, relaxing day when I picked him up which was awesome because sometimes he can be a bit nervous!”

“Very last minute had availability for us and overall great experience! Great and fast communication and updates with pictures. Will definitely book again ❤️”

“Sean has helped me raise my dog ( Oso) since he's been a pup! My husband and I work schedule changes and can be unpredictable but Sean has always been very flexible and treats Oso like family!”

“Jodi was so awesome with my sweet girl. She loved her through a long weekend away from me. Something she's not use to. She sent pictures showing how well she was doing and it made me feel much better to see how well she was doing!! I highly recommend Jodi, she treated Luna as if she was one of her own dogs. I'm forever grateful for that and for putting my mind at ease on how she was doing. You will never regret using Jodi, she's AMAZING!!”

“First time leaving my dog with anyone. Kyla was awesome. I plan to schedule more daycare days with her so that my dog gets familiar with her, anticipating some overnight boarding in the near future.”

“Fantastic experience, very communicative and flexible, sent great pictures of my dog and even a video of her having a great time! Safe neighborhood and clean home, with a fun backyard for the dogs to play in. Cannot recommend them highly enough!”

About: Hi, I’m Ariel—a lifelong Ohio resident, entrepreneur, and proud dog mom of 10+ years. I work primarily from home, which allows me to provide attentive, reliable care throughout the day for dogs staying in my home or while caring for pets in their own home. Our home is shared with my sweet daughter and two friendly miniature dachshunds, creating a calm, family-oriented environment where many dogs quickly feel comfortable. Whether your pup is staying for doggy daycare, overnight boarding, or you’re looking for someone to care for your pets while staying in your home, I strive to make their experience as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. I know how difficult it can be to leave a beloved pet behind. That’s why I care for every dog as if they were part of my own family—with patience, affection, playtime, and plenty of updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I treat every dog as if they were my own and strive to give pet parents peace of mind while they’re away. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pup! Pet care fits very naturally into my routine. I run my own business from home, so I’m able to build dog walks and visits into my day while still keeping a consistent schedule. It’s something I genuinely enjoy because it gets me outside and allows me to spend time caring for dogs throughout the week. I care for every pet with patience and attention to their individual needs. In my home, dogs have access to a fully fenced yard where they can safely enjoy fresh air and playtime. I also live on a quiet street, which makes walks calm and relaxed. I always follow the routines and preferences owners share with me, whether that’s feeding schedules, exercise needs, or specific instructions for their pet’s comfort. My goal is to make sure each dog feels safe, cared for, and as comfortable as possible while their owner is away.
“Shannan is excellent at communist and was willing to work with me on drop off and pickup timing, which I really appreciated. Bonus points for having prior experience working at a doggie daycare. Really helped to facilitate a smooth transition for Serena. Best of all was the fact that Serena had a giant smile on her face when I came to pick her up! Thanks so much Shannan!!!”

About: I have taken care of cats and dogs for 15 years. I have also worked at a vet clinic on kennel stuff and have administrated medication for both cats and dogs. I am currently working part time, and I’m in the process of starting my own business at home so I will be home mostly all day. At home I have a fenced in backyard with lots of room to run. I have a car that I can take dogs to the park and walk as well as being able to get to clients houses. I take care of all animals as if they are my own.
About: I have had animals my entire life so there is never a time where I wasn't around one. I also trust them more than people so therefore, they trust me more than most as well. I am a stay at home mom with 2 under 2 so I am always home and most likely available but I will probably have my children when I do any services on this app. I have 4 cats and 4 dogs of all colors and a variety of personalities so I am used to chaos. I have a fenced yard, pools and toys everywhere for my dogs to run around. My cats have their own room with all the beds and scratching posts they desire. I feed them on a timed schedule but have full water bowls all around the house for them to drink at their leisure all day. I have furniture set up specifically so they can look out windows and there are no rules when it comes to where they can sleep.
About: I've had dogs and cats my whole life and have always played a large part in taking care of them. With my love of pets I became a Veterinary Technician and I've worked in the Veterinary field for over 16 years. I've worked in general practice and emergency. Along with working in Vet Med I have always done petsitting. I have also taken care of rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets and a bearded dragon! I have also had foster dogs and kittens and helped with rescue work. I do work full time so my availability during the week can be limited, especially during the day. I am available any time satrudays, sundays, and wednesdays. And I am available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays before 8am and after 6pm. I like to keep your pet's needs in mind. If they are a little more timid, then I will go slow and take the time for them to trust me. If they are active and ready to go, then we will have a fun time playing right off the bat. I will make sure I follow any directions or care instructions you leave for your pet. And I will always love and treat your pet like it is my own!
“Sally was GREAT for daycare. I know my girls were taken care of, and they were beat when they got home. She was super active with them and definitely wore off the puppy energy! Definitely will be using her again”

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Thurston commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 498 sitters in Thurston, 90% respond to messages in under an hour.
You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
