“Brandy did a great job! She provided drop in visits twice a day for a week for two cats. She was always timely, provided pictures and shared any unusual happenings. The cats were well cared for and happy when we returned home from vacation. I will definitely use Brandy in the future!”

“Andrew took fantastic care of my cat, Castle, while I was away. He sent daily updates and pictures, which made me feel at ease and be able to enjoy my trip. Also, my cat loved his boots so much that I'll have to get him his own pair!! I cannot recommend Andrew enough for your pet sitting needs. Your home and pets will be in great hands.”

“Rachael was GREAT! She communicated with us throughout and gave our kitties all the love! I had such great peace and was able to enjoy our vacation knowing they were in good care!”

“We had a walkaround the house with Rochelle. Rochelle was attentive and took lots of pictures. You can tell that she takes the care of our pups and the house very seriously. After learning the house, Rochelle observed the correct food portions and fed the pups. She is so loving to the pups.”

“Tawny was great! I have 4 dogs, ranging in sizes, and they are very high maintenance. she did great with all of them! Followed instructions perfectly, had great communication, and made me feel so comfortable with my pups under her care. I will be requesting her every time I need a sitter for my doggos!”
About: I am open to caring for any and all pets. As someone who currently has 3 Great Pyrenees, an Austrian Kelpie puppy, and other pets, I am experienced in all areas and types. I have open availability to care for pets. I work for myself so build my schedule around jobs and appointments as needed. I am very flexible with accommodations so please reach out if you have any questions. I do not offer overnight in home care at the moment due to all of my pets at home but will gladly stay at your home with your pet. I can send pictures and videos of your pet to you and don't mind cameras in the home so you can drop in any time and see your fur and/or scaly baby.
About: Hi! I currently have a boxer/shiba Inu and a rescue puppy. My boxer/shiba went through an intensive training program where I was taught how to train a dog as well so I’m great with dogs. I love dogs (maybe more than people lol) and whenever there’s a dog around me my heart melts and I just want to play with them and take care of all the pups!! I am currently a teacher and work Monday-Friday. I walk and/ or feed the pets I’m worked with before work and then again after work as well as play time. In the weekends I’m home all day long as well as in the summer months. I care for all animals as if they were my own. All animal get attention, scheduled meals, and exercise. I also have gates to separate animals if necessary.
About: Please ask to see my Trusted HouseSitter profile for additional reviews and information! I provide pet care in Richmond and Charlottesville and the surrounding areas, though I am also happy to travel to other states with advanced notice. I have a breadth of experience caring for my former pets and my home, as well as house and pet sitting for friends and for my clients. I grew up on a farm and cared for goats, horses, cows, dogs, cats, sheep, and poultry. I make an excellent house/petsitter due to my experience with and love for animals and my tidy and loving personality! ** I charge $45 / night for 1-6 night house stays, but have a sliding scale for longer sits (negotiable at the time of request). I am open to traveling farther distances for 1+ week sits. I am attending VCU for my MSW M-F from 8-4, so I have limited availability for midday potty breaks/check-ins during the week, but I have open availability most evenings and weekends. For boarding requests, my partner works from my home and is available to offer potty breaks/check-ins for pets while I’m at school. I’m happy with staying overnight for housesitting or sharing my home for boarding! I have the utmost care and respect for my clients pets and homes and treat them as if they were my own. I make sure to communicate expectations as best as possible to make sure we’re all on the same page.
About: I’ve had dogs since I was eight years old. Including puppies and rescuing senior dogs. Some of the senior dogs were at the end of their life so I understand the need for compassion and care. I currently have a two year old puppy which I have trained since she was five months old. So I am very versed in the need for daily exercise, consistent training, and daily enrichment. I’ve been dog sitting for at least ten years. Including extended stays at my residence. I’m currently a part time worker, looking for something to fill my extra time. So I have a very flexible schedule and I’m always ready for some extra dog time. My goal is to always put your pets need first. Including any care they need. Including cleaning up after them and any extra medications they may need. Also adding comfort and safety in stressful situations.

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life—seriously, rabbits to goats, and everything in between. Right now I care for dogs, chickens, rabbits, and a cat, and I also have experience pet sitting for families from when I was in high school. In my 20s, I’m excited to help other animal owners get to enjoy a vacation or even a little break like a date night, without having to worry. My love for animals really shows, and I’m totally comfortable with both big dogs and smaller ones—I’m happy to care for every breed. I’m willing to have animals stay at my home, but they absolutely need to be comfortable around other animals. I can also drive to your place and stay at your home if that’s what you prefer. I work from home, so I’m available as often as you need me, and if you need me to stay overnight to watch your furry friend, I can definitely arrange that. With all that said, I’m excited to help in any way I can—because I genuinely love what I do! I’m currently working from home as a Sales Executive at a HR company. I take my pups out every 2 hours for potty breaks and to throw the ball for my very active GSD dog. I get off around 5:30PM M-F. So if you need me to stay at your home to watch your pets while I work throughout the day- that’s no problem! Or I can most definitely take breaks throughout the day to come take your animal out and/or just give some snuggles! I am free on the weekends and can make really anything work. Just give me a time and place and I’ll be there! I have a huge back yard and plenty of space for your dog to run around! It is not fenced, so must have good recall or I can just walk them on a leash. If your dog is coming over to my house they must be good with other animals. I have a male Belgian tervuren (fixed) who’s pretty shy at first, but warms up quickly and would love a play buddy! And then I have a male Dachshund (fixed) who sleeps all day. I do crate my dogs while I’m away, and they can be crated just to give your pet some space to decompress. My cat is in a separate room so she will be away as well.

“Abbi, was thorough and followed every instruction I asked her to do with my senior special needs pup. She was also extremely flexible, which we needed unexpectedly. She provided me an update and I knew my boy was being taken care of. With him being special needs I need someone to be attentive to every detail of his care, she was and she put my mind further at ease when she followed up with me without asking. We will use Abbi again.”

“Victoria was available for our last minute booking! She did exactly what was in the care plan, communicated well and was super friendly! We will definitely book with her again!”

“Caitlyn was awesome in taking care of our elderly cat. She was dependable and took care of our cat as if it was her own. We highly recommend her and will be calling on her again.”

About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs ever since I was the age of six and I have a great way and love with them . My schedule varies weekly as I have a college retention student job and I get off pretty late but I’m very flexible. I can always work around getting your pet taken care of! I care for them with love and with their necessities as needed on a daily bases whether it’s taking them out for a walk twice a day or feeding them twice a day as well or any extra care like giving them their meds as needed as well.
“Chelsea did a wonderful job! She was greeted with a puke mess on the carpet to clean up. So sorry about that! Sienna did well--as much as she does when I'm gone. I'm sure she enjoyed getting out for a walk.”

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with two Labrador Retrievers of my own. I have over 11 years of hands-on experience working with animals, including six years at a kennel that provided boarding and rescue services, and five years as a veterinary assistant while studying to become a licensed veterinary technician. I’m currently continuing my education in veterinary technology. Caring for animals is truly my passion—they mean the world to me. You can feel confident knowing your pets will be in loving, capable hands while you’re away. I’m happy to provide updates and photos so you can stay connected with your furry family members during your time apart. Weekends are always available! Weekday availability is usually flexible, typically Mornings and Late Afternoon/Early Evening. I’m happy to coordinate with you in advance to make it work. 😊 I provide personalized, attentive care based on each pet’s routine and needs, whether in my home or the client’s. In the client’s home, I maintain the pet’s regular schedule—feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and any specific instructions, while ensuring they feel safe and comfortable in their familiar environment. In my home, I offer a clean, pet-friendly space with supervision, enrichment activities, and plenty of love and attention. I treat every pet like family and prioritize their well-being, safety, and happiness at all times.
About: Hi my name is Joyce and I love working with animals as I have many animals of my own. I have a pup, a baby hamster, a turtle and a school of fish. I love animals and I treat them like they are my children. My skills are walking my pup (this includes a nice walk, and picking up their feces with a plastic bag), bathing them when needed, feeding them and playing with them. I make sure my fish and turtle are fed and their tanks are cleaned and up to date. I also make sure my hamster is fed and his cage is cleaned and up to date. All other animals are treated the same with lots of loyalty, much respect and lots of love. I’m currently working part-time on the weekends, so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups and show them all the attention they need! I Have two friendly pups that will keep your fur baby company! But if your dog don’t get along with other dogs I can keep them separated to make your fur baby is more comfortable. Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tappahannock. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
