About: I've always had personal pets and have been the designated petsitter for my neighborhood since I was a child. I've spent the last decade professionally training & boarding all types of dogs, cats, farm animals and falconry birds. I'm currently open and available all days of the week. My life is my dogs/family and there is always room for more furry (& feathery, scaley, ect) friends. 💜 I have a fenced garden area and 3 dogs at home who are crate trained. I can accommodate most requests and love a schedule & routine, whether in my home or in yours.
“Michelle was great with my dog Oakley! I was so thankful she was able to take him on short notice and accommodate whatever we needed... Her house is on a large property that's fully enclosed and in a beautiful gated community in the hills. Whether you have a big dog that loves to run around and interact with other friendly animals or a small dog that prefers to spend time inside close to people, Michelle's house is an awesome place for pets! My dog has major separation anxiety, but instead of stressing out like he normally does when he knows I'm leaving him, Oakley immediately settled in and started exploring the property with one of her dogs right after we got there! I could tell from Michelle's updates and photos that Oakley was really enjoying his time there and felt comfortable he would be well taken care of if he needed to stay even longer in the future. The location of her house turned out to be really convenient and close to where I was going, but even if I'm further away the next time I'm in town and need a sitter, I know that Michelle will be our first choice for sure!”

“We had to find a sitter for one day for Issa, our German Shepard. We were able to drop her off early and pick her up the same day. Elisabeth made the arrangements very accommodating. Our puppy played in the water and seemed to have had great day. We would love to have her watch Issa again.”

About: I have loved animals my whole life and have had many pets; dogs, cats, horses, birds, rabbits, sheep and more. I thoroughly enjoy being with animals, loving and caring for them. Some of my first jobs were at animal clinics, where I learned a lot about caring for animals. I was in FFA as a youth, where I raised and showed sheep, and where I also learned a lot. In my younger years I had many horses. I learned how to care for them, feeding, exercising, and cleaning up after them, etc! I learned responsibility, in addition to a deep love of animals. All of my experiences with my own animals, have made me a knowledgeable, responsible and compassionate animal care provider. I am currently semi-retired from working in the hospitality industry. I have plenty of time and I would thoroughly enjoy taking care of your beloved pets. I have an adorable mini schnauzer, Dudley, and a domestic short hair cat, Pete. I love them both so much and get so much enjoyment out of having and caring for them. We love cuddling, talking, and playing. I make sure they have the food, treats, exercise and attention they desire, and are well taken care of and will treat yours with the same love and respect that I show to my own pets.
About: Hi, I grew up around several different animals of all sizes from rodents/reptiles to livestock/dogs. I have always had at least one dog in my life at all times. The more the merrier. I love all animals big and small. I worked at a kennel where I learned about boarding and training dogs for about a year and I have pet sat for about 15 years in grand total. I currently work at a pet store in Sutter Creek. I love being around dogs and training or even just hanging out and playing. I am a outdoorsy person. I have experience with livestock animals also. Horses, cattle, chickens, Lhamas, mini animals, donkeys. I have references also if you would like them. Our home is completely fenced and sits on 3 acres. We have two friendly german shepherds. I work part time so some days I am gone at work. But our 17 year old daughter is always home. We also go to church Sunday morning so we would be gone for a couple hours but otherwise we are always home. I care for pets in my home as I would my own. I have 3 German Shepherds. 10 months to 7 years old. As for in home pet sitting I would follow whatever routine you have set for your fur babies already so it would be easier on them.
“Seriously the best place if you are looking for a dog sitter. My anxious dog hates being away from me but she has found a second home here. I drop her off knowing she will be well cared for, safe, and happy. So grateful to have finally found a family who understands her!”

I'm, Ian a dedicated pet caregiver and licensed realtor originally from Northern California. After spending several years in Los Angeles working in real estate and caring for pets through Rover, I’ve recently returned to my roots and moved to beautiful El Dorado Hills. While in LA, I built strong relationships with clients and their pets, providing dependable, loving care through walks, drop-in visits, and overnight stays. I’ve worked with pets of all ages, sizes, and temperaments, always making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. Now that I’m back in NorCal, I’m excited to connect with local pet parents and offer the same personalized care I was known for. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to be available when you need me — whether it's a last-minute walk or regular check-ins while you're away. I’d love to meet you and your pets and see how I can help make your life a little easier. Let’s connect soon! When sitting in your home, I take extra care to maintain your pet’s routine, keep their environment consistent, and ensure they feel at ease. I follow any specific instructions you provide, whether it’s about food, medication, or behavioral needs. I also respect your home by keeping it clean and treating it with the utmost care. Your pet’s well-being is my priority, and I treat them with the same love and respect I would my own.
About: I love my dog and truly love every dog I meet. I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely enjoy giving dogs affection, care, and a safe, happy environment. I work from home and would love to help by ensuring your dog is well cared for while you’re away. Pet care is already part of my daily routine since I have my own dog. I work from home, so I’m able to give frequent attention, walks, playtime, and consistent care throughout the day and week. I provide a safe, clean, and loving environment for every dog. My apartments have several dog parks, and I only take dogs there when they’re empty to ensure your dog’s safety. I follow each dog’s routine for walks, playtime, feeding, and rest, and give them plenty of attention and affection, treating every dog like my own.
About: Over 30 years of pet care experience! I’m the type of person that stops by the side of the road to save a lost animal. My dog is a swimmer, not a walker! I work from home, but have a very flexible schedule. Definitely looking for a morning walker and am open for home drop ins otherwise. Safety is key, it is summer right now so pets should be indoors most the day. Early morning or late evening walks are best. Check the ground temperature and do not walk your dogs when its hot!
“Highly recommend. I have a small dog that suffers from separation anxiety. Rachel made sure that our dog felt safe and provided her plenty of company. Rachel was very responsive, professional and friendly. She has a beautiful home and a safe back yard, and lives in a great neighborhood with good places for dog walks. We look forward to more stays with Rachel in the future.”

About: Hello, my name is Renee and I'm a dog mom for over 8 years now and have grown up with dogs my whole life. I have a 55 pound spaniel rescue and grew up with Rottweilers so pretty familiar with different kinds of dogs and their needs. I truly love spending time with dogs, I love seeing the joy on their faces during play time, outdoor adventures, and during cuddle time. I'd love to help take care of your fur baby in the way that they need! I work remotely so I can devote plenty of time to your fur baby, which means plenty of walks, play time, so your pet will never feel alone When doing drop-in visits or sitting in your home I will always make sure your pet and your space are taken care of with the most utmost respect. Looking after your pet and space is a privilege and happy to help where I can.
“Lisa was excellent with our cairn terrier Sophie. We booked Lisa with fairly short notice and she was able to accommodate us. Lisa communicated with us and sent pictures during the stay. She gave Sophie plenty of attention and Sophie was relaxed and happy when we returned. I would recommend Lisa to anyone who needs a pet sitter.”

About: Your pup will love the fact that he/she can run and play and get one on one attention. I love to take care of pets and know just how to make your pets day fun and stimulating so when they come home they can be the warm fuzzy friend you love! I am a stay at home mom so I have open availability. Did I mention I take hikes?!? Yep that's right folks...a dog sitter that will actually take your fur baby on an adventure when you're at work! I personally have been training pups since I was 15 years old, so that will be a part of the daily activities. If your fur baby has special needs that is fine too! My mom and I have been involved with Muttville for years! Pittbull and other (“aggressive”) breeds 110% welcome!! I use that term EXTREMELY LOOSELY! I will host any breed of dog, I do not believe it is the dogs breeding that causes aggression or biting. Most times it is just inexperience on the humans part or fear on the dogs part. Feel confident bringing your pup to stay with me, I monitor all activity and continue to reinforce your training expectations while you’re away.

“Ali is the best! My two dogs love him. I have an older little dog and an energetic doodle, and Ali gives each of them exactly what they need. My pups are always happy to see Ali and throughout the day Ali sends me photos showing me how pampered and happy they are. I’m so happy we found Ali and will continue to use Ali and highly recommend him. Ali is kind, thoughtful, attentive with the right amount of command for my pups. Added bonus, Ali’s house is easy to get to with a nice outdoor space for playing. A dog’s paradise and an owners respite!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Sweeneys Crossing commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
Yes, you can find sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. Many sitters can respond to messages in under an hour.
To find the fastest available match, message multiple sitters with a recent "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
