“Nacho is a very selective Chihuahua who immediately adored Nicole. He exhibited none of the signs of anxiety he generally does when he meets someone new (or even someone he has met several times). He accepted Nicole as one of his special people and behaved as well (if not better!) for her than he does at home. Nicole sent us photos of Nacho napping, taking walks and looking completely adorable while he was in her care; we could see how content he was and were able to have peace of mind while we were traveling. Nacho will definitely be staying with Nicole the next time we need a dog sitter.”

“Our Puddy loves Mariah and his stays with her and her husband! He stays with them happy and comes home happy !!! What more can you ask for when your fur baby is everything !! Thanks Mariah ❤️”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience for Penny’s stay! From start to finish, she was communicative and kept us updated with regular messages and adorable pictures, so we always knew Penny was in good hands. Penny came back happy, relaxed, and clearly entertained—she even seemed to have had her own little vacation! We’re so grateful for the care and attention Penny received and highly recommend Janet’s services to any pet parent. We will definitely be booking again!”

“This is our second time using Kirk and Anita. We have a large dog that needs to run and play and their home/yard is perfect. He gets plenty of exercise and is treated as one of their own. I love the updates, photos and videos that they send - I never worry about him and can see that he is being loved and spoiled. What more could I ask for?! I highly recommend them!”
“As always, Tim and Lisa are amazing with your furry child. Bailey always enjoys her stays and we highly recommend bring your furry child to them. Their family will treat them as their own.”
“Kateri took great care of Yeti and he came back after a long weekend exhausted from all of the fun he had! Kateri sent plenty of pictures of Yeti playing throughout the weekend which we really appreciated. We would definitely let Kateri watch Yeti again if we lived in the area!”

“Pat is wonderful. Her love for dogs comes through from the first few minutes of talking to her. I appreciated how thorough and prepared she was for our visit and my last minute request to sit for us as we came through Atlantic City on a road trip down the East Coast. Everything was perfect! We’ll be back next time I’m in the area!”

“Michael was great. Our little golden doodle took to Michael and his home right away which made it easy to go on our vacation. Sent us daily pictures of Cori and kept us updated the entire time which made it easier on our three kids who were having a little seperation anxiety. Would definitley use Michael again and recommend him to anyone looking for an experinced dog sitter.”

“Our dog Sadie spent almost 3 weeks with Dee and she appeared to really enjoy her time. Dee was great with sending pictures and providing updates. Overall, we were very happy with our experience with Dee. We would recommend her to our friends and family.”

“Patricia took very good care of our doggie that boarded with her. We were lucky to find her on a short notice and lucky that we felt immediately reassured that he would be in good hands. An added bonus was her own sweet and happy dog who became a buddy to ours quickly. I recommend Patricia to anyone looking for a home away from home for their canine family members.”

“You couldn’t find a more attentive sitter than Jared! My dog was very well cared for (spoiled) as the only pet in his home. Jared sent many photos of our dog with him, even at the driving range! My dog was probably a little sad when I picked him up. I will definitely use Jared whenever I need a sitter!”

“Blanca was absolutely amazing! She made sure to always stay in touch and send us pictures! She was so patient with our boys who are very hyper and have anxiety. We are so thankful for her! I 10/10 recommend blanca for anyone who needs dog sitting ?”

“You will not find anyone that loves animals more than Kristen. I’m so happy that I found her! If I’m on vacation I never worry about the well-being of my dog. Kristen sends updates and pictures and it really puts me at ease. I highly recommend her.”

“My dog was on a mini vacation, she had a blast there !! You can tell Karrie really cares about animals and treats yours like her own. My Lola was taken to the beach for her first time. I can’t be happier ? we will definitely use her again when we’re in Atlantic City ???‼️?”

“I found Domenique last minute because I made last minute plans to go to Atlantic City for New Year’s but everyone on Rover seemed to be busy and the last sitter I used was asking for $350! I’m so glad I found Domenique because I needed someone kind and caring for my precious Teddy . Once Teddy met Domenique he was comfortable and was happy in her home. She sent me photos of Teddy sleeping and it was comforting. I would recommend her to anyone and plus she didn’t try to overcharge which was a plus . Anyone coming to Atlantic City should call her because she is very close to the strip and it’s very convenient to go there in case you want to check up on your precious baby. Thank you Domenique”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Swainton home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Swainton.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Swainton sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
