“Maddie quickly won over all of our cats, even the most shy girl of the bunch! She is friendly, communicative, and observant of the pets in her care. I will definitely be booking Maddie in the future because I know our girls will be in great hands with her.”

“Tori has been amazing with my two pups. She’s always on time and has even came spur of the moment when needed. My shy pup warmed up to her in no time. You can tell just by that she is an animal lover.”

“Shelly was incredible!! I seriously could not have asked for a better cat sitter. My cat has no teeth so he has some odd requirments food wise and she handled everything wonderfully. She sent thorough updates on all the small quirks about my cat and I could tell she really cared. I loved getting photo updates each day and felt so relieved to know my cat was in good hands. Great communication and caring person. Highly recommend!!!”

About: Dependable, loving, experience with horses and dogs of all breeds. I have had dogs all of my life until now. I love them from puppy to senior stages! I am currently unemployed so I am available during the week at any time. Last minute calls are ok with me. Weekends, I am flexible. I will care for your pets as if they were my own. I prefer to walk your dog in their own area. However, I will gladly take them to a park for walks also.
About: I have a degree in veterinary technology and used to work in clinics and veterinary ER. I personally have three dogs, three guinea pigs a bearded dragon and am fostering a kitten. I take the care of animals to heart and cater my approach to each of their personalities. I can perform CPR if needed and am able to administer medications and help with any specialized needs. I’ve worked with dogs and cats of all ages and can meet their needs. I also can manage exotic animals. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask! I work from home so my schedule is flexible. I keep my dogs on somewhat of a routine as I have semi high energy breeds. Though we do lounge around at home when they’re feeling lazy. I treat all animals with the highest level of care whether it is my own pet or someone else’s. I have my eyes on the pets at all times both inside and outside of the home. I worked in the veterinary field through college and retired in 2024. All that knowledge stays with me and I continue to stay up to date on animal care. You will get regular photo updates of your babies during my drop in’s and/or boarding.
“I have a puppy and Lisa was able to come take care of him twice a day while I was at work and on short notice, she sent me pictures and kept my worry at a minimum while I was gone. I came home to a puppy who was fed and happier than he would have been otherwise. Ill definitely be using her again!”

About: I have had pets, mainly dogs, my entire life and I have a true love for animals. I have been pet sitting for friends and family for over 6 years. I have recently joined the Rover community and I am excited for this new experience! I do work a part-time job so my availability often differs by the day but I still have plenty of time for pet care! The earlier I am requested and care is planned out, the better I will be able to adjust my schedule to your needs! I have plenty of experience caring for pets, majority dogs, in their own home and my goal is always to make them feel comfortable in their space! My availability for caring for pets in my home is more limited but I do have a fenced yard and two dogs(one small and one medium) that are both friendly with other dogs and able to be crated if necessary!

If I can’t meet the schedule you need, I will be up front about that. N/A I don’t care for other pets at my home. I’m not comfortable with the liability. I will care for them in your home gladly.

Whether your dog loves long walks, playtime, belly rubs, or just relaxing with a companion, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’ll follow your care instructions carefully, provide plenty of updates with photos, and make sure your pup gets the attention, exercise, and affection they deserve. My goal is for you to have complete peace of mind, knowing your best friend is in caring and reliable hands. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family member! [9:01 PM]Hi, I’m Josh! I’ve always loved being around dogs because they’re more than just pets—they’re family. I know how hard it can be to leave your dog with someone else, so my goal is to make sure both you and your pup feel comfortable from the very beginning. I’m the kind of person who enjoys getting outside for walks, playing fetch, giving belly rubs, or just relaxing with a dog that wants some company. Every dog is different, so I’ll take the time to learn their routine, personality, and what makes them happiest. I’m reliable, patient, and pay attention to the little things. Whether it’s sticking to a feeding schedule, giving medication exactly as instructed, or making sure your dog gets the exercise and love they need, I’ll care for them the same way I’d want someone to care for my own. You’ll get plenty of photo and video updates while you’re away, so you can relax knowing your best friend is safe, happy, and in good hands. I’d love the chance to meet you and your dog and become someone you can count on whenever you need a trusted sitter. I work full-time at Amazon, which has helped me become dependable, organized, and great at managing my time. When I’m not at work, I dedicate my time to caring for the dogs in my care. I keep my schedule up to date and only accept bookings when I know I can give your pet the attention they deserve. Whether it’s before work, after work, or on my days off, your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness will always be my priority. I’ll make sure they get plenty of exercise, playtime, love, and regular updates so you can have peace of mind while you’re away. I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog in someone else’s care, and I don’t take that lightly. My goal is to make every dog feel safe, comfortable, and at home from the moment they arrive. I provide a clean, secure environment where your pet will get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I’ll follow your dog’s routine just the way you do, keep a close eye on them, and treat them with the same love, patience, and care I’d want for my own pet. I want you to feel completely at ease, knowing your furry family member is in caring, trustworthy hands.
“If you're looking for a consistent, loving caretaker for your babies, Britany is your girl. She's watched our 4 cats numerous times, and we feel so comfortable knowing she's here. Britany spends time playing with, talking to, and getting to know each of our pets. We have been blessed to have her watch our lovies every time we've been gone.”

About: I've been around animals my whole life and learned how to properly care for them from a young age. I'm experienced with dogs of all ages, as well as kittens and young cats. I truly enjoy giving pets the love, attention, and care they deserve, and I treat every animal as if they were my own. Right now I am working a part time job and I am finishing up my senior year of high school online, so my schedule is very flexible! I always make sure pets get the exercise they need, whether that’s through playtime or going on walks with them! I keep their water bowls fresh, full, and clean. I provide well portioned meals that not only fill them up but help keep them happy, healthy, and full of energy!
About: I’ve had my first dog( Bandit) for 10 years. Since I was 9, I would take care of him on the daily. I would be the one to bathe, feed, play with him, and walk him. My extended family even trusted me to care for their pets while they’ve been away. I also own many different kinds of pets other than dogs and cats, so animal care is something I have adapted to. For the past two years, I have had experience in intensive dog training and I am educated in dog behavior. I attend The Ohio State University studying Biology in order to become a Veterinarian. Not only do i need to earn a bachelor’s degree to get into vet school, but i also need hours of experience. To achieve that, I have volunteered at ASPCA (animal rescue organization) to care for the many animals in need. While there, I learned how to care for animals that have been in rough situations. I am able to manage dogs that are twice my size. As a crazy animal lover, I'd love to meet your pets! As of right now , I am available all day everyday to care for my own pets and yours too! I work from home, so pet care is something I’m able to do on the side. At home, I just got a fenced yard installed, but I take my pets out on walks. They are under my super vision 24/7. If my client has a fenced yard, I will happily take them outside as needed and provide playtime.

“Anthony was great and very responsible. He got along really well with my cat and made me feel comfortable leaving her in his care. Before the drop-in visits started, he even suggested meeting in person so I could go over the basic instructions with him. Over the next three days, he did a great job taking care of everything—playing with my cat, cleaning the litter box, and making sure she was fed. I really appreciated how reliable and attentive he was, and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy cat sitter.”

About: I am an animal lover! I have a dog named piper she's a small little angel and my life hasn't been the same since I've had her. I want people to feel comfortable leaving their furry bundles of love with someone who can love and protect them! I take the dogs I am watching to the dog park at my apartment where they can run and play. Also, if interested I can bathe your dog before he or she comes home. Your dog will have a blast with many toys and walks and naps on the couch! I am a currently not working so I’ll be at home all day with my fur babies and hopefully yours. I have a very flexible schedule I always keep the dogs I am watching on a leash unless it is a fenced backyard. I’m always paying attention and capturing cute moments.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sunnyland
Cassie is awesome! She’s watched my senior boxer lab mix and 1 1/2 year old golden retriever overnight for a few days and I also had her stop by to let them out and feed them lunch when I was gone for a few days. They just love her and get excited when I tell them Cassie is coming to see them. She’s great!

Mia was absolutely amazing with my cockapoo, Ginger! She was reliable, communicative, and took such great care of her while I was away. I really appreciated the updates and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. I would definitely book with Mia again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring to watch their pet!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
