About: Hi there! My name's Tyler, and it's a pleasure to (virtually) meet you. I'm 40, moved to Richmond from Miami to be closer to family in 2023, and work from home as a consultant. I grew up with dogs. My whole family also has dogs, so I like to think we can't help but love them. I'm naturally a nurturer and a caregiver. My mom was a teacher, and we often had the class guinea pig/gerbil/goldfish/snake/cat at the house as well. I'm comfortable with all animals. I volunteered at shelters while I was in school in North Carolina, and currently pet-sit for my busy and oft-traveling friends: the most recent rotation includes terriers, golden retrievers, labs, rottweilers, and pitbulls, but I've never met a dog I don't like or that doesn't warm up to me, no matter how shy. I have a 8 year old golden retriever border collie mix named Bowie who is in the process of becoming a certified Pet Partner/Delta Dog (he likes to volunteer, too!). He is super social and loves all creatures, furry and non-furry. He can be here if you board with me or stay with my boyfriend - whichever you prefer. I grew up a Navy brat and manage both people and businesses for a living- I am a firm believer in treating people, animals, and their homes with respect and dignity. Your house, your rules. I'm also totally open to plant-sitting, bringing in mail, puppy play-dates, the odd chore, etc. I also offer the option of ‘boarding in your home’ without staying there: lots of my regular clients like their pets to stay in their comfort zone at home, and I visit 4x a day for 30 minutes or more; this is usually morning, midday, afternoon/evening, and night, with walks/food/meds/cuddles/etc. Let me know if you’d prefer this service to boarding in my home or yours - I’m amenable to whatever you think is best for your pet. Thanks for taking the time to read about me- I hope to meet you and yours in the near future! - Tyler - grew up with dogs - rescued and fostered and helped place multiple dogs - volunteered at animal shelter in Chapel Hill, NC for years - had a 15 year old golden retriever named Tucker, who was a certified Delta Dog (can volunteer in hospitals, nursing homes, great with children, the elderly, and other pets) - Has a 6 year old rescue Border Collie mix named Bowie, who lives with me full time - Spends a lot of time with my ‘Nephew Dogs,’ Murphy & Carlyle, a 2yr old Sheepadoodle and a 7 year old Westie, respectively - loves loves loves animals In my home, they’re family: frequent walks; a dog park (legion park), if you’re so inclined; they’re welcome on furniture; I have multiple dog beds, toys, a crate, a balcony where they can watch birds, etc. In your home, however you specify. I respect and adhere to your rules for your pet family and for your home. It dictates my daily routine! I have a flexible schedule and pets come first - happy to work on your dog or cat’s normal schedule to keep things as aligned with normal as possible while you’re away. Pets in my home are welcome everywhere and have free access to water, toys, furniture, pet beds, blankets, etc. We go for lots of walks and I send lots of pictures!

“Sorry for the late review. I've been doing the grandma thing for the past 2 weeks. I am a widow and I live alone many miles from family. My dogs, Margot and Molly, have become my life. When I learned that they were not invited to the party, I almost declined the invitation. Through a trusted friend, I learned about Rover. I took a chance and booked a time with Dawn. WOW! It's like taking your child to kindergarten for the first day and they walk away from you without looking back. I like to think the girls are good judges of character. Well Dawn took their leashes and they walked away from me without looking back They were not the least stressed when I picked them up later. They had play time with other dogs, they had their dinner and they were ready for a good night's sleep when I picked them up. I got updates on where they were and what they were doing. I couldn't be happier than I was with Dawn's care. This experience was a golden buzzer for me.”

About: I love dogs and have had dogs all my life, from puppies to seniors, I have seen and cared for it all! My dog, Boogie, and I can’t wait to play with your lil guys and gals! Boogie will keep your dog playing and having fun. He does best with other medium to high energy dogs and puppies! But he knows how to chill with older and low energy dogs too. We have a fenced yard with plenty of space to run around and a quiet neighborhood to walk in. Plenty of space in the house to have some down time cuddling too! My partner and I take care of our dog, Boogie, daily. Playing in the yard, going on walks and hikes, and a few visits to the dog park a week is our usual! We have a lovely yard and one or both of us are home all day during the week. I prefer crate trained dogs, but wouldn’t pass on dogs who aren’t, we can make it work!

About: Hello! My name is Kyla and since I was 5 years old my family and I have always welcomed needing pets to our home and family. I’ve also been frequently trusted with caring for neighbors’ and family pets during their times away. With this background I’ve been given the hands on experiences to understand and provide the needs of pets who are away from their home environment and would ensure that my home and care is a welcoming and comforting temporary replacement to what you provide to them. Looking forward to being your trusted sitter! I currently work from home full-time and am much of a homebody outside of that, giving me plenty of time to care for and play with your furry friends and provide frequent updates on their stays away from you. I live in an apartment but am very close to nearby parks and walking areas and would be sure to frequently give your pets their much needed doses of fresh-air and outdoor playtime. When in a client’s home, I am sure to treat it as my own and maintain the routine that they’re accustomed to.

“Despite the late request, Ross answered very quickly and was able to arrange a brief meeting the same night for Murdoch and his dog to meet. The day after, we left Murdoch with Ross and Ava and everything went monthly with a few pictures of Murdoch's day. I recommend Ross and Ava !”

About: I’ve taken care of multiple breeds and of varying ages. I’ve also helped train my own puppy, as well as friends’ dogs, the basics like potty training, sit, etc. I’m quite comfortable with puppies under 1 year old all the way to our senior friends. I’m currently a full-time dog mom and pet caretaker. I just graduated from grad school and don’t start my new job until this fall, and I thought - what a better way to spend my summer off taking care of my favorite animal and helping other pet owners? I’m an open communicator and can be available how you need me with the proper heads-up! I live in an apartment building with my fiancé and our sweet, cuddly boy dog (neutered). There’s 3 parks within walking distance and a dog park just an 8min drive away. Since I live in an apartment, I would recommend only small to medium dogs stay with us, but I’m always willing to travel to clients’ houses for dogs of all sizes. I treat my clients dogs as if they were my own fur baby. The love, kindness, & attention I give my sweet boy is the same love, kindness, & attention your dog will receive. My friend is also a vet tech I can always reach out to for advice/questions and I myself am a certified (human) healthcare professional.

“Ashley took great care of my Facui. She get very nervous in new environments, but Ashley took her in like she was one of her own. Provided numerous photos of playtime. Very flexible and accommodating.”

About: Please ask to see my Trusted HouseSitter profile for additional reviews and information! I provide petcare in Charlottesville and Richmond and the surrounding areas, though I am also happy to travel to other states with advanced notice. I have a breadth of experience caring for my former pets and my home, as well as house and pet sitting for friends and for paid jobs. I grew up on a farm and cared for goats, horses, cows, dogs, cats, sheep, and poultry. I make an excellent house/petsitter due to my experience with and love for animals and my tidy and organized personality. I now work 100% remotely, so I'm taking this time of my life to explore the U.S. and house/petsitting seems like a fitting and more community-based way to do so! ** I charge $45 / night for 1-3 night house stays, but have a sliding scale for longer sits (negotiable at the time of request). I am open to traveling farther distances for 1+ week sits. I work remotely with an occasional need to go into the office, so it works best for me to care for pets in their home with a good internet connection. I have a fair bit of flexibility and can care for animals throughout my work day. I have the utmost care and respect for my clients pets and homes and treat them as if they were my own. I make sure to communicate expectations as best as possible to make sure we’re all on the same page.

About: I can administer medications, am great with senior dogs, high energy pups, special needs assistance and puppy training. Great with walks and play time as well! Absolutely love kitty / doggo snuggles too. I work from home so am very flexible with my schedule. I can overnight sit as well as house dogs in my home without needing to leave them unattended! They’ll always have someone to snuggle. I’m flexible with daytime / evening drop ins as well. I can care both in and out of my home. Whichever you prefer. We have a large fenced in yard and a lovely screened porch too!

“TC and Sage are great. Drop off and pickup were a breeze. They asked a lot of questions so they would be able to give him the best care. Provided updates. Highly recommend.”

11. Nicholas P.
“As a dog walker on Rover myself for the last two years and a lifetime animal owner, I have a good understanding in what to look for in an animal caretaker. Nicholas would undoubtedly be a great choice for anyone’s animal. Nick is a level-headed and responsible young adult, who, for as long as I’ve known him, has been extremely passionate about the health, safety, and care of all animals. I have seen these attributes through both the display in his own relationship with his dogs and when he took care of my animals for me, countless times. He is understanding, compassionate, and a great communicator, which leads me to know how great a dog walker, animal sitter, and/or caretaker he will be! I give my highest recommendations as a friend and customer of Nick.”

12. Kyla B.
“Kyla was absolutely amazing with my Maltese, Jasper! She provided daily photos and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. She was incredibly responsive and kept me updated every step of the way. When I had an unexpected emergency and needed her to watch Jasper for a few extra days, she didn’t hesitate to accommodate me. It’s clear she is an experienced and caring pet owner, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to care for my pup. I highly recommend Kyla to anyone looking for a reliable, loving pet sitter!”

16. Charlotte R.
“Charlotte did a fantastic job pet sitting for our mini ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She had a big responsibility caring for 10 animals. There were 2 horses, 2 donkeys, 4 cats and 2 dogs in her care. Everyone's food was a bit different, especially the cats, where there were special instructions for each one. Charlotte paid close attention to the details and even wrote up her own spreadsheet to keep the instructions clear. I can always tell when I get home if our animals were loved and well cared for by the look in their eyes. Charlotte is a star and I would have her pet sit any time we need help. She really stepped into farm life and handled all of her chores very nicely.”

17. Emily C.
“Emily began pet sitting for us by way of a friendship with our daughter. She has several pets of her own and is very loving and attentive. She likes to send videos and pictures during her visit to keep us informed on our dogs’ contentment and well being. She is prompt with communication and follows a detailed list of instructions that we leave for her. Great pet sitter!”
