About: Hi there! I have been a pet sitter since I was 14, with multi-species experience including: dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters, fish, turtles, and rabbits. I am a life long pet owner as well. I am in my 4th year of studying Animal Behavior, which feeds my interest in enrichment and proper welfare for all animals. I have experience with: • oral medication administration • pets with anxiety • grooming and nail trimming (*depends on your pet's temperament) • enrichment I am available for drop-in visits, walks, or pet-sittings. ***I do not offer boarding due to my own pet for the safety of all pets involved! I'm currently on break for the summer and have full availability during the week to stop in and take your pet for a walk or play session, or house sit for a longer period. I tend to stick to the instructions provided as to keep a normal routine for your pet. For a first time visit, I will get aquainted with your pet and offer a treat if allowed. I will send photos of your pet when I arrive and leave to offer some peace of mind. For walks, I will take your dog on a stroll around the neighborhood so they can let out some energy and use the restroom, followed by a treat after returning home. Drop-ins are similar where the pet will be taken outside for the restroom if needed and have some playtime to let out some energy. For pet sitting jobs, I tend to ask more questions about your pet to get a better understanding of their needs as well as anything else that will need taken care of such as collecting the mail, or watering plants. No matter the species, each visit will include playing, treats, and lots of pets! When entering or leaving your home, I ensure that the key is placed in the correct spot (to prevent lockouts!) after locking to keep your pet and home safe.

“Samm was amazing with my girls! She sent me regular updates and went out of her way to comfort one of the three who wasn’t too thrilled about being left home. She was so laid back about their routine and doing whatever it was that they liked and were used to and even went out of her way as far as doggy duties to let the cleaning lady in before she left! We will absolutely ask her to come back again and you won’t be disappointed if you have her watch your fur babies!”

“Amanda was great with our three Husky’s. They are all blowing their coats and she did a great job keeping up with the flying fur. Our dogs were so calm and relaxed when we got home, she did a great job of keeping me updated and I didn’t have to worry about whether or not they were well cared for during our vacation!”

“Andrew was incredibly thorough and professional. He offered meet and greets and sent lots of pictures. Our dogs were completely at ease and we will definitely use him again in the future.”

About: With over 10 years of hands-on experience in pet care, I’ve had the joy of looking after a wide variety of animals, from playful puppies and independent cats to curious rabbits. My approach is always tailored to each pet’s unique needs, ensuring they feel safe, loved, and well-cared for. Whether it’s daily walks, feeding schedules, administering medication, or simply providing companionship, I bring dedication and a genuine passion for animal welfare to every job. This extensive experience has taught me how to handle different temperaments and health requirements, making me a reliable and compassionate pet sitter for any furry friend. I am available on weekends, as well as all day Monday, and on Wednesday and Friday evenings. Willing to stay with you pets for the whole weekend or pop in on those days i’m free! There is a fenced yard at my parents' home with five dogs, and I often play ball with them outside. I also have a fenced yard at my place for my 2-year-old Mini Aussie, where we enjoy playing outdoors as well. He has two full toy baskets and bark boxes every month! He is very loved (spoiled) :)!
About: I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life. I’m experienced in senior care, and also care for all other ages. I’ve also been a pet sitter for friends and family many times the past few years. I’m available for dog walking and drop in visits only. Feel free to message me to work out times within my availability that would work for you!😊 if you need a service on a day out of my availability send me a message and I’ll do my best to make it work! I typically take my dogs outside every 3 hours to go potty and get exercise. I always make sure they have fresh food and water available to them throughout the day. As for clients pets, I follow instructions and schedules very well and always make sure the pets get the best care possible.
About: I am a Division 1 soccer player that manages time very well. With that, I am very active and responsible. I grew up with dogs my whole life and had to end up taking care of 2 of my senior dogs. They were a lot to take care of but, that didn’t matter to me as long as they were feeling loved. We have adopted 2 puppies within the past 3 years, so I do understand the commitment it takes to keep them in order. I have taught my puppies tricks, like sit, shake, spin and lay down! I do work part-time in the restaurant business so my shifts only last 4-5 hours max. I am very active, so I get my puppies walked usually 2-3 times a day. Whenever I am pet sitting, I make the pet my priority. I usually plan my schedule on what I have to do around the pet I am sitting. I provide safe, loving care tailored to each pet’s routine. In clients’ homes, I keep their routine consistent with feeding, walks/litter care, and lots of attention, plus regular updates for peace of mind.

I am very skilled in all forms of care from medications (even insulin), special diets and just overall loving every dog I meet!! I would be available for whatever time slots you are wanting! I currently have an open schedule and should be able to accommodate your needs. I am able to come to any clients home and deliver a SAFE and KNOWLEDGABLE peace of mind. I worked with 100+ dogs a day with parents knowing I was the one overseeing their care!
“Olivia is truly everything you could hope for in a dog sitter. From the very beginning, she has been incredibly communicative and thoughtful. She always checks in, clearly coordinates her schedule, and lets me know exactly when she’ll be with my pup which is so reassuring. Her constant communication gives me complete peace of mind, and it’s obvious how much she genuinely cares. Most importantly, my dog absolutely loves her. I can tell he feels comfortable, happy, and well cared for every time he’s with Olivia. I’m so grateful to have found someone this reliable, attentive, and kind. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter they can fully trust.”

“Luna helped us out in a tight situation! We needed a pet sitter at the last minute and she pulled through for us. She was willing to come without meeting our pets before the weekend she came to sit. Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 508 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Southington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Southington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Southington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Southington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Southington. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
