About: My family has always had dogs and cats. From shih tzu to pitties to huskies to corgis to bulldogs, I've trained and handled a lot of pups! Additionally I've volunteered walking dogs and fostered animals for the Friendship APL since I was 11. My neighbors have even had me take care of their cats for weeks at a time. I am a stay-at-home animal parent so I'm free throughout the day and week to take care of and spend time with your lovely pet(s)! My experience with various dogs and cats makes me versatile. A young pup that needs training? A working dog that loves their long walks? An old cat that rather just snuggle up? I can cover it all.
“Extremely reliable, communicative, and the dogs absolutely love him—we couldn’t ask for a better daily visit than our walks with CJ! He provides so much peace of mind, knowing my dogs are being well cared for when I can’t be there. The adorable photo updates are always a joy, and it’s clear that he puts a lot of effort into building relationships with his clients—human and furry friends alike.”

“Nikki was amazing! Really helpful and very versatile with your schedule/needs. She is very responsive and always leaves a note with pictures whenever she visits your pets. Highly recommend and will be booking with her anytime when we need it!”

“Brittany was very patient with my senior dog and kept me informed during her visit. Brittany was very punctual, and was very gracious about having to clean up when my dog had an accident.”

“Kaleigh was an amazing sitter for our dog! She offered a meet and greet prior since it was our first time booking so that everyone was comfortable. She was punctual, attentive, and made sure to communicate so we knew exactly what was going on and when. We will definitely be using her again! 100% recommend her for your pets 🫶🏼”

About: I have had dogs in my house my whole life, and for the past few years, I have been dog-sitting for numerous families for long periods of time. I am equipped to walk, let out, feed, administer medications, play, and take care of any other needs your dog may have. I work as a caregiver on Saturdays and Sundays for 6 hours each day, but otherwise, I can spend the rest of my time with your pup. I make it a priority to get any instructions my clients may have regarding their pup and make sure to follow them. I also make sure that I am always in earshot when in the home with the dog so that if anything happens, I can quickly act.

About: I’ve been surrounded by pets my whole life! I’ve had dogs, cats, birds, and a chinchilla that I’ve taken care of. I currently have two German Shepherds and two cats! I will provide patient, personalized care and treat every pet like my own. I understand that every animal has different needs, routines, and personalities, so I will focus on making them feel safe and comfortable while you’re away! I am entering summer break and only have track practices, so I have a lot of available time to make visits! You can also reach out any time, even same-day messages! I have a large front and back yard, and the back is also fenced in for extra safety. My dogs at home are also friendly to have a pet friend! If needed, there are also plenty of rooms in my house to separate animals too.
About: I have been a registered veterinary technician for 9 years. I specifically work with emergency and critical care. I of course have my own animals that I have cared for 12 years. I have four dogs, two cats, a betta fish, some shrimp, and a snail. Animals are my passion and I will treat yours like my own. I only work three nights a week, which leaves long weekends available for services. I have pretty open availability to suit your needs. I’m very willing to work with your schedule. Whether you need over night care or daily walks, I'm confident we can arrange something. Unfortunately at this time, I will only have services outside of my home. I will care for your furry loved ones like they are my own.
“Marissa is awesome! She has been walking Lilly for over a week now, and I couldn't be happier. She is dependable, always comes in the time frame I ask, and I feel that she cares about my dog. She always gives me updates in addition to the card that Rover gives you. As a dog trainer myself, I have met several dog walkers who don't actually know how to walk a dog. You can rest assured that Marissa will properly walk your dog. I highly recommend that if you need a dog walker to look no further than Marissa.”

About: Hi! I’m Lindsey. I am 39 years old and have two sons ages 18 and 16. I am a licensed practical nurse and I have had animals since I was 7 years old. I love just about every critter there is. I have had cats and dogs of all sizes. My skills include: dog walking, feeding, playing, companionship, administering any medications, urinary incontinence and diaper use, following necessary diets, and lots of belly rubs. I am familiar with most collars and leads. I can host up to two dogs a day in my home if they are from the same family, possibly more if they are small dogs. I have a fenced in yard. Puppies are welcome. I have been operating this business full time since September of 2019 and I have a very loyal client base. I am an energetic loving animal sitter who is looking forward to meeting you and your family pets! We are a homeschooling family who spends most time at...you guessed it! Home! Check our calendar for availability! We would love to meet you and your family! Here we have a fenced in backyard so we get lots of outside play time in. When the weather is nice we also like to go to our local area park. We have toy boxes filled with treasures for your fur baby to enjoy. We also made sure to stock our cabinets full of treats....just in case!!! ☺️ I have been passionately working full time in this pet care business since the beginning of September 2019. It has lead me to become the proud owner of Harleys Hounds LLC. I absolutely love what I do and I love meeting all of your furry family members! My main goal is to make sure your fur babies feel safe, secure, loved, and as if they are having a vacation of their own!
About: I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and have always loved taking care of animals. I have experience with dog and cat sitting, as well as some experience with dog training. I currently have two Border Collies and a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd mix, so I’m very comfortable with high-energy dogs and keeping them active and entertained. I know every pet is different, and I’ll make sure your pet gets the same care, attention, and love I’d give my own. 🐾 I currently work part-time at a local restaurant, but my schedule is pretty flexible, so I can easily work around pet care. I’m also taking college classes online, which gives me the flexibility to be available wherever I am. This makes it easy for me to give your pet plenty of time and attention! I take the safety and well-being of my own pets very seriously, and I would give your pet that same level of care. I’ll make sure they are safe, comfortable, and properly cared for while they’re with me, treating them with the same responsibility and attention I would give my own pets.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-on-one walking services.
Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your South Amherst. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighborhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.
For dog walking services, you can request a report card update with specifics about your dog’s walk. Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Yes, you can find walkers who have experience with handling special pet needs in South Amherst. On Rover:
- 94% of walkers can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
