“Amanda went beyond the call of duty caring for our two dogs, who are quite comfortable at home but had never been watched by a stranger for an extended period of time (18 days). Both dogs took right to Amanda. She supplied text and photo updates throughout our time away. She followed instructions to the letter and didn't hesitate to ask questions or suggest an idea if it came up. The house was spotless when we got back, and the dogs were happy. There's no question we'll seek out Amanda again if the need arises. We don't think you'll find a better sitter.”

“Carolynn was great with our pups. She was extremely responsive when setting up our meet and greet and house sitting. Carolynn even sent us pictures and updates while we were gone. We will definitely work with her again!”

“Jenny put up with our ridiculous Frenchies and even collected eggs from the chickens each day. The house was in the shape we left it and she communicated each day with updates. Would recommend!”

“Preston came over prior to dogsittting for a meet and greet with the dogs. We have 3 large dogs which can be a lot. She did great with them over the weekend! We would definitely book her again!”

“Maya was totally wonderful with our 2 dogs and cat. She stayed at our house, left it in great shape, and loved on the animals. Our dogs have some unique needs - one needs to avoid greeting other dogs, and the other had some meds to take this particular trip - and Maya handled it all like a champ. We're lucky to have her as a reliable walker and housesitter!”

About: Aside from having 3 of my own, I've also fostered other dogs, and I do occasional pop ins for 3 others, actively dog sit another and work in a dog friendly brewery! I work a full time, fully flexible job in Hudson. My weekends, mornings and evenings are open. I also am able to work my schedule around whatever I need. Pets in our home get kenneled if people aren't present. We don't have a fenced in yard, but have 3 tie outs in the yard. In a clients home it would be as a "what's needed/necessary" basis per the owner.
About: My family always had pets while I was growing up. We used to breed labradors. When I was in jr high and high school I would do a lot of volunteering at the local veterinary clinic in Cottage Grove. My family has two wiener dogs (Slinky and Dewey) and one kitty cat (Zackary Binks). My sister is a dog groomer and I have on numerous occasions gone over to help her care for her puppy clients. I currently work a full time job on 2nd shift but am home durning the day Monday-Thursday and am home all day Friday through Sunday. I have a decent sized yard alone with an empty plot next to me to play with your fur baby. I also live down the street from a dog park that my kiddos and I enjoy going to with our own fur babies and would love to bring yours with to join in on the fun.

“Kristin is an amazing pet sitter. She has a high attention to detail and will make sure your pets receive the best care possible. She will do “the dirty work” because let’s face it, animals are gross and make big messes sometimes but she will take care of it because she understands. We love Kristin and will use her services again!! Thank you Kristin!!”

About: I have had pets my entire life and fostered many. I presently have a 17 year old Dachshund and a 13 year old Chihuahua that get along well with visiting dogs. I do work part time out of the home. I am able to tend to the pets through out the day as needed. I can provide home made human grade food if needed. Also on leash walks. I have a lead for dogs that need that, I also have the time to take them for walks. Otherwise I have a large country yard.
“This was a meet & greet for Astrid & Natasha. Astrid took to Natasha instantly, no hesitation, no doubt! Instant chemistry! Natasha demonstrated her dog knowledge and skill asking great questions and sharing her dog experiences. Natasha was willing to take a walk with us to see Astrid and her humans in their neighborhood. The walk went great with many of the typical dog/dog & dog/humans engagements. We are looking forward to having Natasha spend more time with Astrid.”

About: I have owned dogs most of my upbringing and early adulthood. I now have more free time to help others take care of their dogs without worry. I work a part time waitressing job, mostly in the afternoons. So I am free all day long while you are at work. I am able to flex and change my schedule for you! I am free to watch your dogs in your home so your animal knows its environment is safe. I am also free to just pop over and take your dog for a long walk.
“Scott was just awesome. The dogs were very receptive to him. He sent numerous pictures. I will recommend him to anyone and everyone. My wife and I don't go on vacation very much because of our furry friends, but we may start to go more often now.”

“Theresa did an outstanding job of caring for our pets while we were out of the country. We appreciate her skill with relating to our furbabies and how we could depend on her to give them their medicine and send us lots of cute pictures. Highly recommend!”
About: I have cared for animals ever since I was a child. I am a caretaker by nature after years of working in healthcare. I am now a stay at home mom to a one-year-old and a 12-year-old. We also have a playful three-year-old yellow lab female. I am available throughout the day and night to provide care and attention. Can watch at my house or yours. We do have a fenced in yard. I am a stay at home mom so perfect for giving your pet all the love and attention they need. I am also available most weekends. I have a fenced in yard. We have a three year-old female yellow lab who is fixed. I can also leave her home with the family if care is needed at your house, I do have a one year-old who is attached to my hip most of the time.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Somerset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Somerset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Somerset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Somerset. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
