“Heather was great! Communication and pictures of Duchess were very much appreciated! I came home to a clean house and it was perfect as I got home later than normal and could just relax and head to bed. I will definitely use Heather again!”

“I highly recommend Jacqueline. Our pups loved her. She put my mind at ease and sent updates and pictures of the pups while we were away. I’ll definitely hire her again.”

About: My name is Carla, I have over four years of pet care experience (working in pet stores, vet clinic's, and volunteering for local shelters. I also am mom to 3 fur babies of my own: My senior dog Dino, my rescue Darla, and my youngest daughter Appa. I have a genuine love for animals and will ensure that your pet receives the love and care they deserve. I will walk, feed, and play with your pet to help you give them the extra care they need while you work or take that vacation. I enjoy being active especially with animals so long walks are a favorite past time of mine even during the cold weather months. I look forward to working with you and loving your pets! Thank you for your time! Carla C. I work from home during the week and have the weekends free! I have plenty of time to drop-in and walk your pets if needed. My dogs are crated during the day while I work. Darla gets 3-4 bathroom breaks, while Appa is still being house broken. As far as my client’s home, all I need to know is what their routine is and I go from there.
About: I’ve have taken care of pets since I was a child. I have been with Rover since February 2023.I have a large yard and a little boy who loves animals. We spend a lot of time outdoors. If your pet likes that, they will be able to join us. I have a chain link kennel out in the yard and a lead where they have room to walk around and hang out outside of the kennel too. I work full time. I am available after 5:30 pm Mon-Fri. Weekends I’m free all day! We love animals and can’t wait to care of yours! :) I have a large open yard with an enclosed porch for your pet to lounge and take in the sunshine! I provide morning, evening and bedtime walks and outdoor time.
About: I’ve been looking after dogs since I was in high school, beginning when my mom brought home her sweet husky, Sophie. I also adore my brother’s dogs, Lucy and Cody, and have made them my consistent clients for the past two years. I am used to larger dogs, but I absolutely love all breeds and can’t wait to meet your babies! I’m currently free whenever! I have a seasonal job that starts up in late April, which will shift my pet sitting schedule to weekends only if traveling is required. If you are local I can definitely try to work around my job and your needs depending on time. I unfortunately cannot watch your pets in my home, as I live with my dad and that’s just his rule. I can however stay at your home or do check-ins, whatever you would be comfortable with! If there are any strict guidelines for your babies (feeding/outside schedule, no furniture, crating, dietary restrictions, medications) I will always make sure I follow them to a T!
“I couldn’t have asked for more. Hanna stayed with our two girls - Darla and Hazel - one senior dog and one space cadet young English Setter. We got photos everyday that showed us in an instant that our girls were well taken care of. We like them to be more comfortable at home and having Hanna here with them was wonderful - she brought in the mail and took great care of our home. What a blessing and a treasure. In a heartbeat I’d ask Hanna again. Too bad she’s not available for our cruise this spring! I tried!”

“Chelsea was wonderful, we booked her last minute after a family member became ill and could not sit our dog, Kenzie. She stayed over night and sent pictures and updates. I felt very confident leaving our home and dog in her care. Will definitely use her again.”

“I wish I could give Yasmine a million stars! She is so attentive. When one of our dogs was having tummy issues, she offered to make her a plain meal to help. She is so responsive and sends so many pictures and updates. We were so nervous leaving our babies but she is a pro. 100% recommend her and we will be using her again in the future!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I believe Angel’s as well. She was great at communicating and sending me updates and handled a few extra things during my time away. She was very respectful of my home and my dogs really enjoyed her company. I would definitely feel comfortable using her again.”

I create a safe, calm environment by following each pet’s routine to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I have a fenced yard for secure outdoor time and always supervise pets. About: I have taken care of animals of all kinds for my whole life living on our 50 acre family farm. We have horses, pigs, cows, dogs, cats, reptiles and fish! I take care of all of them and provide them with a loving and enriched environment. I can’t wait to meet your best friends, or have them for a visit! Pet care is my greatest passion and second job at home. I spend my mornings out in the fields with my horses and cows pitching hay, mucking stalls, and cuddling in the grass. I spend my evenings snuggled up with my 3 hound dogs on couch or landscaping my reptile and fish tanks for fun. I am open to the needs of all pets as I know people do things in their own way. I will carefully follow the instructions left by the client.
About: Have experience with multiple dog homes, and senior doggies needing meds and special care. Also have been sitting for a puppy now, so I welcome a challenge. I have experience with senior or special needs dogs and giving medicines if needed.

About: Hi there, I’m Kirsten and go by KP! During the week, I would be able to check-in on your furry friends before and after work and during my lunch break. I am available to travel if needed and have a flexible schedule! I have grown up with at least 3 dogs in our home at all times. I’m a lover of animals and have been house/pet sitting for over 15 years now (not including high school and college). I’m very flexible and cater to the needs of your pet and household. I understand that pets can get stressed when their owners are away. Patience is a strength of mine, and I love to be outside to play with the animals! I’ve watched dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, breeds, and health needs, and ensure that each pet gets the love and care they deserve while their owners are away. I will imitate their daily schedule so that they are continuously comfortable. I work full time, Monday-Friday (8-4:30) and would be available for walks and drop-ins before and after work, as well as during my lunch hour. As for pet sitting, I am available for any length of time, but would still be popping in during work days during my lunch hour! I aim to make sure that your pets’ day-to-day routine remains as normal as possible. I will change my schedule to work around your pet’s needs, whether that is a scheduled medicine dose or a long walk during lunch.
“Marilyn was so communicative, sent us daily updates and photos, and really cared for our dog Theo! We ran into some challenges during her stay which she handled expertly and with so much care. We would book her over and over and highly recommend her.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 98 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sign Post. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sign Post walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sign Post maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sign Post choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sign Post. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
