About: I have been sitting dogs off and on for the last 5-6 years. I have an Aussie that loves playing with other dogs and is the sweetest. I currently work full time from home and can play throughout the day. I am able to let my fur baby out multiple times a day whenever he needs. I have a big backyard without a fence. There’s plenty of room to run with my dog each day and to keep your fur baby company the whole day.
“Book this pet sitter! She is a dog whisperer!!! I can't say enough wonderful things about Mia. She stayed with my dog overnight for 4 days. My dog loved ❤️ her. Mia was also a great house guest in my home. Everything was very clean and tidy when I got back. She's a college student with lots of energy for your pet. I highly recommend her for the Lake Oconee area.”

About: I’m an animal lover, have always been & will always be. Since I was a small girl 😊 I’ve had the great pleasure & blessing of owning 6 cats and 9 dogs in my lifetime. My animals are my babies, furry babies are the best! I’m also trained in the Volhard motivational method of dog training, studied holistic animal care, as well as I’ve done therapy dog work (was certified trainer). I currently work part time and have a flexible schedule so I could spend the time needed giving your babies the care they deserve. I spend my mornings normally in the yard, tending the garden, plants and chickens as needed and getting exercise. I have a lot of land for exercising and spending fun time with your baby. My 2 pups are boundary trained and very well mannered. They are also crate trained, so I can offer your pups whatever they need:
“Abigail did a fantastic job watching our critters! She was great about sending pics of Oban and Mabel, and she kept our house looking nice and clean. We would definitely have her house sit again and recommend her!”

“Catecha was wonderful in every way. Our dog took to her immediately and they obviously fell in love. We were nervous because Roki had NEVER in his 14 years stayed with anyone he hadn't known all his life. Catecha. Sent photos and reports almost every day We highly recommend Catecha and will ask for her if we have future dog free trips”

“Melissa is wonderful with large dogs and did a fantastic job caring for my two shepherds. She took the time to get to know their personalities and routines, which made the entire experience seamless and stress-free. Her communication was excellent, she was dependable, and it was clear she genuinely cared about my dogs' well-being. It's not easy finding someone confident and experienced with large breeds, but Melissa exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, professional, and caring pet sitter. I will absolutely use her again.”

“Taryn was really sweet throughout the whole process and our two dogs seemed to respond well to her. Her photos of the dogs during her stay were endearing and showed that she formed a great relationship with them.”

I’ve always been around dogs as a little girl and you understood that dogs have feelings needs just as much as humans do. I make sure I provide dogs with as much care as possible. I like taking walks, runs, and playing.. I’m usually available person.. I would want a bond with your dog and be able to be there for your animal anytime you’re not available to.. I will nurture your dog make them feel safe and be able to trust me.. I don’t have much of a special kills as far as teaching your dog how to do tricks lol but I can at least try. I’m currently a college student with a very flexible schedule. I have schooling on weekends but I’m pretty much available anytime during the week days I will make sure when I care for your pets at your home, their safety is first and I will be very attentive to your pet
“We had an amazing experience with our pet sitter, Abbigail! She took such great care of our pets and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. She was reliable, communicative and treated our fur babies like they were her own. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pets and we couldn’t be more grateful!!! We highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring. We’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

About: I absolutely adore animals. When I was younger, it was my dream to go into the veterinary field (the only thing that stopped me is I have a hard time saying goodbye to any animal.) I've cared for horses and other farm animals on family and local farms, and I currently help my family and friends care for their animals when they're away with work or need help dog training. They come to me with any training questions about puppies, too. I'm experienced with potty training, crate training, socialization, regular care, and elderly pet care. I've always been involved with girl scouts, 4H (animal science), and FFA (future farmers of america), so you can trust that I am widely knowledgeable about everything from lizards to pigs to cats and dogs! Every fur baby will be in loving hands in my care. My pets come first, always. I wake up 5-6am and take care of pets, including feeding, medicine, and litter boxes, then spend some time outdoors whether that's a walk or spending some time in the window to bird watch with cats. My cat eats 3 small meals a day, so lunch time comes next, followed by calm and wind down time. I spend an hour minimum playing at a higher energy with animals, and we take a trip outside (for walkable babies). When we are back inside, it's more wind down time before dinner. Another walk, and it's bed time. I have an indoor cat to keep your baby company when inside I have two outside lovable and energetic dogs and a huge yard Dogs are always on leashes and always within my line of sight Wind down time before eating to prevent bloat Experienced with a variety of warning signs for emergency care Able to give medicine, shots, special prepared foods, and any other needs for babies who need special help

I plant to fit your needs into my schedule. I can visit as many times as needed. I make sure that the animals in my care are always cared for to the best of my ability. Safety and comfort are my top priorities.
“Angela was wonderful. She visited before the overnight to meet everyone, and they all reacted positively. I came home to a peaceful house with calm animals, everything was clean and neat, feeding areas were ready for the next meal. She contacted me when one of the gang had an accident, about my preferred method of dealing with it. She arrived promptly and started sending pictures and updates. We will be having her to house sit again.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 262 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Shady Dale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shady Dale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shady Dale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shady Dale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
