About: What makes me a great fit as your sitter is my reliability, genuine love for animals, and hands‑on experience with different breeds and personalities. I have three dogs of my own—a husky, a shih tzu, and a 9‑month‑old German shepherd rescue—so I truly understand the care, patience, and attention our furbabies need and deserve. I recently moved back to New Mexico to be closer to family, and as someone born and raised in Valencia County, I care deeply about this community and the pets that are part of it. Working with local dogs and cats is something that helps me grow, and I value the bond that comes from being part of their routine. Communication is one of my strongest skills. I believe pet care works best when we operate as a team, making sure everything is clear, comfortable, and aligned with what’s best for your pets. I’m also able to care for birds, and I’d love to set up a recurring weekly schedule so I can become a consistent, trusted presence in your pet’s life. I do not offer reptile or fish sitting. Your pets will be treated like family—because that’s exactly how I treat mine. Pet care fits smoothly into my weekly routine because caring for animals is already a big part of my everyday life. I work a professional full‑time job, typically from about 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM. My role is hybrid, so some days I’m in the office and other days I’m remote. When we plan a schedule, I’ll always be transparent about my work commitments so we can make sure everything aligns comfortably for both of us. Outside of those hours, I’m fully available for mornings and evenings. On weekends, I have open availability and can provide Drop‑Ins or Walks up to three times a day. Holidays are open as well — let’s talk through them. I’m not a big traveler, so I’m usually here in Valencia County and happy to help families who need reliable holiday coverage. Pet care isn’t something I squeeze in; it’s something I genuinely enjoy and prioritize. For Drop‑In and Walking services, I make sure your pet’s essential needs are fully taken care of — feeding, fresh water, restroom breaks, and any comfort or routine they’re used to. I also prioritize safety: I’m Certified in CPR for Cats and Dogs, which means I’m trained to respond quickly and correctly in emergency situation. If your pet has specific requirements or special instructions, I’m always happy to accommodate. My goal is to make every visit safe, comfortable, and consistent with the care they’re used to at home. I’m reliable, clean, and respectful, and I bring the same level of care whether I’m in your home or caring for your pet during a walk. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and supported while you’re away.

About: People laugh when I say "dogs are my only friends." Started in 2022, I never imagined this would become my full time job. Ive grown up around animals my entire life, from horses, cows, chickens, goats, fish, dogs and cats, so its truly an honor to be able to pursue something I love and care for so deeply. I have lots of experience in specialized care, from potty training, to senior care. My goal is to always make the dogs feels like home, and ensuring small controlled environments for a stress free stay, all while building their confidence, to maintain a happy healthy dog. I live on an acre fenced in with 5ft high piped fence all the way around. The yard is very secure. There is lots of room for dogs to explore and play. The property is shaded by a variety of trees. We have a mini swimming pool setup to cool the paws off during the hot summer months. We have a large concreted shaded porch. It is very cozy and welcoming. I do this full time as mentioned above, so I am around dogs pretty much 24/7, but some other passions I have is gardening. When you pull up to the property during spring and summer you will see that I have flowers hanging on every post on the porch. I also have a garden in the back fenced off from the dogs that I tend too. We also have chickens! (Dont worry they are completely safe and fenced in from the dogs and any other predator that would want to reach them.) I am licensed and insured as well as Pet CPR/First Aid certified. Some services I offer: In my home: Daycare and overnight pet sitting. At your home: Drop in Care. Please reach out to me if you have any questions! I do pet daycare and boarding full time. So you can imagine just how much of my daily life is revolved around dogs. I spend a majority of my days with them. I have a fenced secure yard, 5ft tall piped fence all the way around. My goal for in home sitting is to try and keep their routine the same as much as possible. We also have cameras setup and if we’re not at the home, the dogs are still monitored.

About: I have taken care of my own dogs/cats as well as families pets, I can create a big connection with animals, especially dogs, I have a big heart for all animals I’m currently a stay at home mom of a toddler and she loves animals just as much as me, walking dogs or having to go visit them would get us out of the house and we’re almost always free. I do have a little Banana Bread side business too. I have a fenced yard, 3 dogs (a saint bernard thats a bit older, a chihuahua and a blue heeler mix) and one cat, the cat is an outdoor cat. Our dogs haven’t been around too many other animals besides families dogs but once they meet new dogs and get to know each other they can get along well with them.

About: Hello, my name is Leevi. Since I was young, I have always been the one taking care of the family pets. I love all animals, and taking care of them. I have leashed and behaviorally trained multiple dogs for friends and family, as well as served as the designated animal watcher for both cats and dogs for friends and family. I have also raised multiple jumping spiders and lizards. I care about the needs of all animals; seeing them happy makes me happy. I work full-time from 5:00 p.m. to midnight, with Wednesdays and Thursdays off. Despite my evening work schedule, I maintain an active lifestyle and enjoy staying productive throughout the day. As soon as I wake up, I am usually on the move, whether I am exercising, running errands, handling personal responsibilities, or spending time outdoors. I value making the most of my mornings and early afternoons before beginning my shift. I will care for your fur baby with the same patience, attention, and affection I have always given my own pets—as a valued member of the family. I understand that every dog has a unique personality, routine, and set of needs, and I am committed to providing dependable, compassionate care that helps them feel safe and comfortable while you are away. I have hands-on experience training and caring for several of my family’s dogs. My experience includes leash training, reinforcing positive behaviors, administering oral medications, maintaining feeding schedules, and providing regular walks and playtime. I am comfortable following specific care instructions and adapting to each dog’s energy level, temperament, and daily routine. I am also attentive to the ways dogs communicate their needs. Whether a dog is feeling stressed, hungry, excited, tired, overheated, or simply in need of reassurance, I recognize the importance of observing their body language and behavior closely. I prioritize safe walks, hydration, a calm environment, and plenty of positive interaction to ensure each dog receives the care and attention they deserve.

About: I have experience caring for dogs and cats and am confident in providing attentive, reliable care. My experience includes feeding, walking, playtime, and maintaining daily routines. I prioritize each pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being, and I strive to provide dependable care so owners can feel confident while they are away. Pet care is already a regular part of my daily routine. I currently care for two kittens and a puppy, so my schedule includes feeding, playtime, walks, training, and cleaning throughout the day. Because I’m used to balancing the different needs of young pets, I’m organized, attentive, and consistent with routines. This makes it easy for me to provide reliable, high-quality care for additional pets during the week. In my home, I provide a safe, clean, and pet-friendly environment with close supervision, regular feeding, playtime, and plenty of attention. I follow established routines and provide age-appropriate care, including training support for puppies and enrichment for kittens. In a client’s home, I respect their space and closely follow all care instructions to keep pets comfortable in their familiar environment. This includes feeding, walks, litter box or waste cleanup, playtime, medication if needed, and regular updates to owners. My goal is to maintain consistency, reduce stress, and ensure each pet feels secure and well cared for.

Alex took such good care of my dogs and saved my butt on short notice! She came over right during the times we'd discussed, swung by for a meet and greet beforehand and sent me some great pictures with each visit. You'll immediately be able to tell how much she loves critters and I'd trust her with mine again anytime. Thanks again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
