Katrina was GREAT! We were a little worried because we'd not gotten a chance to meet her before we got into town and we were 8 hours away from home but as soon as we met her we knew that she'd take great care of the dogs. She has two smaller dogs of her own that she kept separate from ours while we were there, but by the time we picked Hope and Lou up a few days later everyone was hanging out together. She was quick to update when I checked in on the dogs, but really, I felt comfortable enough that I only texted twice. I would absolutely leave them with her again when I'm back in the area.

Heather and her family were very welcoming and made me feel great about leaving my dog in their care. Heather kept me updated with my dog's silly antics and were very nice to get. My dog was tuckered out for 2 days after I picked her up so I know she was busy playing and having fun. I would not hesitate to use Heather for any of my future dog sitting needs.

Laurie was wonderful with Gracie! I was a little nervous letting Gracie stay away but from the moment we had our meet & greet I felt very comfortable. Laurie, her sweet dog Daphne & daughter were very warm and welcoming. Laurie provided many check-ins and promptly answered all of the questions I had. I would definitely Laurie to anyone looking for a sitter and plan to use Laurie again in the future!

Wonderful experience! Anthony and his wife Leslie were so welcoming to our dog Daisy. We were thrilled to find such a caring and compassionate couple in a quiet neighborhood for our 9-year-old chihuahua mix pup. Daisy is quite reactive to other dogs and small children, but they were able to provide a safe and comfortable home for her while my family was out of town. Beyond excelling at basic care, Anthony and Leslie showered love and attention on Daisy throughout the week. We appreciated the frequent pictures and videos that Anthony sent throughout the week (avg 4 per day) showing Daisy in such bliss - ready for belly rubs, watching squirrels, resting and relaxing, and going for long walks. We could tell she was being well cared-for and more! We highly recommend Anthony and Leslie as pet sitters and look forward to booking with them again in the future. Thank you!

We could not have found a better dog sitter than Cassandra. Our old dog Pippi was a challenge - multiple accidents - yet Cassandra was so understanding and tolerant! And her children were great with Pippi, giving her belly rubs and lots of attention, so much so that she practically purred.

About: I'm a huge animal lover - big and small! I've had dogs and cats my whole life. We have a sweet cat who absolutely loves every dog that comes through our home. We currently have a Great Dane and Great Pyrenees as well as chickens, 1 guinea pig, 2 rabbits and fish. I'm all about making sure our babies are happy and healthy and living the best life we can provide to them. After doing much research and lots of experience, I've learned a lot about a dog's language and how to respect them. I will treat your pets as if they are my own and will love on them just the same. I can't wait to meet your fur-babies! Rover is my full time job right now so I’m available to take care of your pup throughout the day as need be, whether that’s just hanging out or a walk or potty break, etc. I have a large fenced in yard and our 2 dogs will gladly keep your pup company and enjoy running around. I can easily crate if need be as well.

About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience and genuine love for animals. I've been caring for dogs and other pets for over 35 years, beginning in childhood and continuing throughout my adult life as a pet owner. Caring for animals has never felt like a job to me—it's something I truly enjoy. I understand that every pet has a unique personality, routine, and comfort level, and I take the time to get to know each one so they feel safe, loved, and at ease while their family is away. I'm patient, attentive, and reliable, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. I have experience caring for puppies and senior dogs and understand the extra attention, gentleness, and consistency they often require. Whether a pet needs an energetic play session, a leisurely walk, medication reminders, or simply a calm companion, I'm happy to adapt to their individual needs. My goal is to provide pet parents with peace of mind, knowing their beloved family member is receiving loving, dependable care in a safe and comfortable environment. Pet care is woven into my daily routine. As a dog owner, I spend time every day walking, feeding, playing with, and caring for my own pups. I genuinely enjoy being around animals and understand how important it is for pet parents to know their pets are in caring, dependable hands. I treat every pet as if they were my own and make it a priority to provide plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and consistency with their usual routine. As a dog owner myself, I understand how important it is to know your pet is being cared for as if they were a member of the family. When pets stay in my home, I do my best to make them feel comfortable, safe, and part of the family. I follow each pet's normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, exercise, medications (if needed), and any special instructions provided by the owner. Pets receive plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and supervised care throughout their stay. I also provide regular photo and video updates so owners can have peace of mind while they're away. I have a fenced in backyard (pictured) where they can run freely and play while staying safe. For drop-in visits, I make sure pets have fresh food and water, potty breaks, exercise or playtime, and plenty of companionship during each visit. I take time to learn each pet's personality and needs so they receive individualized care. I am respectful of my clients' homes and always ensure everything is secure before leaving. My goal is to provide dependable, loving care and make every pet feel happy, comfortable, and well cared for whether they're staying with me or I'm visiting them in their own home.

Absolutely loved Stephanie and Stanley! What a relief to leave our baby in a loving home for a few days while we attended a conference at Oglebay Resort and extended our stay to spend time with our kids and grandson from out of state for Christmas. Stephanie was wonderful about following Buddy’s normal routine and sending me photos and updates, so I’d know how well he was doing. Can’t thank her enough. Just wish she lived near me. Happy Birthday, Stanley!

Dana was great! I needed a sitter at the last second and she was able to watch Colbie with no problem. She sent lots of pictures of her during her stay, and treated her just like one of her own dogs. I could tell that Colbie received lots of love and attention and was very happy. She got fresh chicken mixed with her food for dinner every night, and was even allowed to bring her favorite toy home with her. I will definitely be booking with Dana again in the future!

About: I’ve been helping friends and family take care of their animals while they are away since I was a kid. I love babysitting furry friends. I work certain days of the week at another job really early in the mourning and home by 1130 am. I’m a very quiet shy person but I love animals. I work certain days early in the mourning and I’m home by 11:30 a.m. I need a 4 day in advance booking. I love animals so I wanted a job to where I can work them. I spoil every animal I come across. Everyone will be fed. I have treats, toys, leashes, a special dog monitor for if I do have an overnight on a day I have to work. I do have an extra crate if you feel your dog needs crated. If your animal requires special treatment such as medication I will need something written out for that such as name of medication time taken etc. I care for every animal as if they were my own. Their health and safety is my main priority at all times.

We’ve been caring for dogs together since 2013, and our animals live fully alongside us in everyday life, from couch snuggles to family adventures. Our dogs are regularly vetted, deeply loved, and yes—often spoiled. In addition to long-term pet care, we’re proud foster parents with The Road Home Animal Project and have lovingly fostered over 22 dogs (and counting), each with unique personalities and needs. This experience has made us patient, adaptable, and confident caring for dogs of all ages, energy levels, and backgrounds. Your pup won’t just be watched—they’ll be welcomed into a calm, happy home with a whole family devoted to their comfort and care. Pet care is woven into our daily life. My husband works remotely five days a week, I work part-time, and evenings and weekends are open—perfect for one-on-one attention, extra spoiling, and playtime with our dogs who love having new friends. We care for pets like family, offering fenced yard play, neighborhood walks, and crate options when needed. Our friendly, sometimes vocal dogs enjoy playmates, and pets are fully included in our home with supervision, comfy furniture, and attentive care.

This was a great experience for our dog Lily, and therefore for us as well. This was our first time leaving our 3 year old golden, so we were a little apprehensive until we met Ashley and her 2 great dogs. We were gone for over a week and we never worried about our dog; we knew she was a good hands and getting lots of attention and great care. Ashley sent us pictures, videos, and updates. This was the first time Lily really had extended play with other dogs plus Ashley's kids; it was clear our dog was happy, safe, and probably didn't want to leave :-) Couldn't have asked for better care or a better experience. We highly recommend Ashley and hope to use her again soon!

As of September 2026, there are 292 sitters on Rover offering Dog Boarding across Richmond. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Every sitter on Rover has their own rhythm and routine, but most will follow the flow that keeps your dog happiest. Sitters can give meals on your dog's regular schedule, provide a comfortable place for sleep, and plenty of one-on-one attention.

88% of Richmond sitters also include daily walks in the neighborhood during dog boarding stays. You can also request photo and message updates throughout the stay so you can see which Richmond landmarks or neighborhoods your dog is enjoying.

If your dog is a little shy, consider booking a one-night trial stay! This practice run can boost your and your dog’s confidence before your trip.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Richmond home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Richmond.

You and your Richmond sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in OH ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
