“Katina did a wonderful job. Our dogs adored her, she was dependable, showed up as scheduled and kept us informed during each of her visits, with messages and a sweet photo! We were able to relax and have peace of mind! We highly recommend her!”

“Susan did a great job taking care of my senior cat! She was very attentive to her needs and routine and was so sweet with her. I would highly recommend Susan and would rebook with her in the future.”

“Melanie was fantastic taking care of my cat, Jimmy. I went out of state for Christmas and had her come twice a day for a week to feed him and clean his litter box. She sent me pics, videos and notes the whole time which was comforting since I had never left him for more than 2 days before this trip. She even took my trash and cleaned out the sink of his bowls. I can definitely recommend Melanie!”

About: Hi! I’m Kari, and I’d love the opportunity to care for your four-legged family members while you’re away. I’m dependable, attentive, and understand that leaving your pets with someone new can be stressful—for both of you! I’m an active, family-oriented person who enjoys being outdoors and staying busy, and I’ll treat your pets with the same care and attention I’d want for my own. Whether your pup needs a long walk, some playtime, extra cuddles, or simply a little company while you’re gone, I’m happy to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m also a great communicator and will keep you updated while you’re away, including photos and messages so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for. Every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I’m happy to follow your instructions closely—from feeding schedules and medications to favorite walking routes and bedtime routines. Your pets aren’t just pets—they’re family. 🐶❤️ I’d be honored to help care for them like they’re part of mine! My flexible schedule allows me to provide dependable, personalized pet care around my existing commitments. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, and overnight stays, and I’ll make sure each pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, companionship, and love. In my home, pets become part of the family. I provide a safe, comfortable environment with plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and cuddles while maintaining their normal routines. We have pets of our own, and understand all personalities do not match, we take extra care to ensure everyone is happy, and well loved.
“Sheryl was great with our dog and cat while we were away for the holidays. She was caring, attentive, and followed our instructions for medications to a T. I would definitely recommend to book with her!”

“Marcos took great care of our kitties. His updates were informative, assuring us that everything was taken care of. He even went above and beyond to pick up medicine when we ran out due to poor planning. Additionally, one of our cats is very difficult for her medicine, but Marcos was able to handle her. We were very glad to come home to healthy, only mildly resentful kitties.”

About: I have taken care of all types of animals for most of my life. Many friends and family rely on me for their pet needs. I currently work at Gloucester Mathews Humane Society. I am passionate about animal care and willing to help anyway I can to put your mind at ease. Currently, I offer pet care out of clients home. I am trustworthy and reliable individual and can care for your pets while you’re on vacation or work.
About: I’ve been trusted with homes and pets since 2008, when house sitting first came into my life organically through friends and people I knew who traveled. They needed someone dependable to stay in their homes, care for their pets, and keep an eye on things while they were away. Long before I knew professional house sitting was a thing, I was already doing it. My hands on pet care experience became even more personal when I became the primary caregiver for Angel, my senior Shih Tzu. I managed her complete day to day care, including feeding, walks, bathing, grooming appointments, veterinary visits, medication administration, companionship, and the changing needs that come with caring for an older dog. Today, I bring that same patience and attentiveness to the pets entrusted to me through professional house sitting. I have experience caring for senior dogs, administering medication, maintaining established routines, providing companionship, and adapting my care to each pet’s individual personality and needs. But what truly distinguishes me is everything else I bring through the front door. I’m a U.S. Air Force disabled veteran and retired IT professional with 26 years of experience. My career included systems engineering, cybersecurity, incident response, and positions requiring a Top Secret security clearance. I’m also a former real estate professional and longtime homeowner with firsthand experience managing renovations, repairs, contractors, maintenance, and the unexpected situations that come with caring for a property. That experience matters when you’re trusting someone with your home and pets. If something doesn’t look right, I notice. If detailed instructions need to be followed, I follow them. If something unexpected happens, I know how to assess the situation, communicate clearly, and determine when immediate attention is needed. I understand privacy, security, accountability, and what it means to be trusted with someone else’s property. I don’t simply stay in your home and feed your pets. I tend to what you’ve entrusted to me, your pets, your home, their routines, and the everyday details that allow you to leave with confidence. Because you’re not simply trusting someone to feed the dog. You’re trusting someone with your home and a member of your family. You roam. I tend. 🏡🐾🌍 My schedule is flexible, which allows me to provide attentive house and pet sitting based on each client’s needs. I work to maintain your pet’s normal feeding, walking, medication, playtime, and bedtime routines while you’re away. Because I stay in your home, I can provide consistent companionship and care while also keeping an eye on your home and everyday details. I provide attentive, individualized care based on each pet’s normal routine, including feeding, walks, playtime, companionship, medication when needed, and plenty of attention. I follow the pet parent’s instructions closely and prioritize maintaining a safe, comfortable, and calm environment throughout their stay.
About: I have taken care of all kinds of animals cats, dogs, fish, and even plants! I love to help my friends, family, and more with walking their dog, feeding their cat, or watering plants! I work only a few days a week because I’m a stay at home mother so I would give your pup all my love. I’m available during the week from 11am - 8pm. I take my dogs on walks as well as play fetch at least once a day! I feed them twice a day and let them out every 2-3 hours. If i dog/cat sit for someone I go to their house 2 times a day to feed, walk, or whatever else I’m instructed to do.

About: I’ve grown up around pets my entire life, especially pit bulls, and I’m very comfortable caring for strong, energetic, and affectionate dogs. I understand the importance of structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, and I treat every dog with the same love and respect I give my own. In addition to dogs, I’ve also cared for two beautiful tuxedo cats, so I’m familiar with meeting cats where they are—whether they’re playful, independent, or just want a quiet companion. Having pets of my own has taught me how important trust, routine, and attention are, and I always make sure animals feel safe, loved, and at home while in my care. I work from home, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to be fully present for the pets in my care. Because I’m home throughout the day, I’m able to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, feeding, and lots of attention rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. I can easily adjust my day to match your pet’s routine, whether that includes early morning walks, mid-day check-ins, medication reminders, or extra cuddle time. My flexible work-from-home schedule also allows me to respond quickly to any needs that come up and gives me the freedom to focus on keeping pets comfortable, happy, and well cared for at all times. Safety and trust are my top priorities when caring for pets. I live in a pet-friendly apartment community with plenty of dogs and a designated dog park, which provides a safe and social environment for pets to get exercise and enrichment. I always supervise playtime at the dog park and only allow interactions that are positive and appropriate for each pet’s temperament and comfort level. In my home, I maintain a clean, calm, and pet-safe environment. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, medications, and any special instructions provided by owners. Pets are never left unattended outside, and I ensure doors, leashes, and gates are always secure. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect their space and stick to their pet’s established routine to minimize stress. I provide regular updates, photos, and communication so owners feel confident and at ease while they’re away. Whether in my home or yours, I treat every pet with patience, attentiveness, and the same level of care I would want for my own animals.

I have a little bundle of joy named Mochi. Taking care of him is my favorite thing to do. He makes me realize that I have what it takes to care for pets of all different backgrounds. :) I’m currently working transitioning into a new job and looking to use all my free time to take care of your little family member!❤️🐱🐶 🏡 Trust, Safety & A Comfortable Environment 🐾 Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities! Whether your pet stays in my home or I come to yours, I’ll provide a clean, calm, and caring environment where they can feel comfortable and secure. I’ll follow your instructions closely, respect your home and routines, and make sure your pet receives plenty of attention, supervision, and care. You can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is in a safe and loving environment while you’re away. ❤️🐶🐱

About: I have 3 years of professional experience working in the animal industry and currently work at a veterinary hospital, where I provide hands-on care to a variety of pets every day. My experience has given me a strong understanding of animal behavior, health, safety, and the individual needs of different pets. I’m comfortable caring for dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments, including pets who may require extra patience, medication, or specialized care. Working in a veterinary environment has also taught me how to recognize changes in behavior or health and respond appropriately when a pet may not be feeling their best. When caring for your pets, my priority is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while maintaining their normal routines as closely as possible. I understand that every pet is different, and I’m happy to follow detailed instructions regarding feeding, walks, medications, exercise, and other specific needs. You can feel confident knowing that your pets are in the care of someone with professional animal-care experience who genuinely enjoys helping animals and treating every pet as if they were my own. Depending on my schedule I work from 7am - 3pm or 8am - 5pm, before or after my regular job I am free to hang out with your fuzzy guy! I care for pets in my clients’ homes by keeping them comfortable, safe, and as close to their normal routine as possible. I follow each pet’s individual care instructions for feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and any special needs. I also make sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and enrichment while their owners are away. With 3 years of experience in the animal industry and my current work at a veterinary hospital, I’m comfortable caring for pets with a variety of personalities and needs. I pay close attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy levels, or other signs that something may be wrong, and I communicate with the owner promptly if I have any concerns. I also treat my clients’ homes with the same respect and care I give their pets, keeping things clean and secure and providing updates so owners can have peace of mind while they’re away.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
