“We had such a wonderful experience with Jennifer! She took great care of our pup, Roma, while we were away for the weekend. She was incredibly communicative and sent lots of pictures, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear Ro was happy and well cared for the whole time. In fact, we already booked her again!”
“Trish was great with our three (kind of high maintenance) cats. They loved her immediately! She took good care of them and our house while we were out of town. We are so grateful that our cats loved her so much!”

“Emily was great to work with and made our traveling easy, not having to worry about our two dogs. We loved getting pictures of the dogs throughout her stay. Also, her having experience with Australian shepherds was a huge plus because she understood our dogs quirks. She even went above and beyond by coming a couple times ahead of her stay to get to know the dogs, and while we were gone watering our plants, taking in mail, and cleaning before she left. Would 100% book her to watch my dogs again in the future.”

“Nicholas was the best!!! He checked in couple times a day with photos over a very long and hot weekend. It was obvious from the pictures that our dog was very happy. We felt that she and home were in great hands. Thanks again Nicholas!”

“Emily was great! She came over to do a meet snd greet beforehand and yo personally go over their care. The dogs were very well cared for and Emily followed all instructions we left her. Will be using her again!”
About: i’ve have many types of breeds. i currently have two border collies and love working with animals. i can’t wait to meet yours, im excited it’s in my everyday routine , i have a very hyper breed so they are very active. i wake up and my dog is the first thing i take of , and i do the same throughout the day. i make sure she’s taken care of before other things. i do what is more comfortable for the dog , if they are hyper i’ll play with them until they are tired. if they are calm dogs i’ll feed them and make sure they are cared for either way.
About: I'll be honest, I am doing this because I need extra money. But I want to make extra money spending time with your pets because I love being around animals and I want to spend actual time with them giving them love, exercise, and a good time. I am able to spend actual time with them as I am a teacher and do not work during the summer. Animals deserve to be shown affection as much as possible throughout the day especially when a lot of their time is spent waiting for owners to come home. Don't let your pets wait around for you, give them someone to hangout with in the meantime! I love taking dogs on walks and hikes! I know how important it is for animals to be cared for meaning being fed, bathed, and given a good rubbin. If you have any questions, feel free to ask (: I am a teacher on summer break so I am fully available for your pets! I love to take them for walks and play with them. I care for pets by taking them for walks and to the bathroom based on their schedule at home. I love to play with dogs and give them rubs. I love making new dog friends.
About: I’m a dependable, caring, and active pet lover who understands how important it is to know your pet is safe and loved while you are away. Whether your pet likes long walks, cuddles, or running in circles in the yard, I am happy to tailor my care to their needs! My goal is for you to have complete peace of mind while your furry family member receives the love, attention, and care they deserve. I look forward to meeting you and your pet! I will care for your pet when I get off work and if you need me to let them out throughout the day I can. I am very active so can take your pets on as many walks as you would like! I can easily crate your dog if needed and I will/wont allow them on the furniture based on the owner’s discretion! I will keep your furry friend in a routine while you are away!
“Morgan Is Great I Highly Recommend Her If You Need Someone To Watch Over Your Fur babies!! She Did An Amazing Job And Also Kept Me Informed Daily With Pictures And Videos… Thank You So Very Much Morgan For Everything You Did To Make Sure My Furry Babies would be ok and safe!! I Wish I Could Give You 100 Star Rating Because You Went Above And Beyond For Us And We Appreciate More Than Words that”

“Keshia was great! My dogs loved playing with her and told us that we should go away more often. On time and our dogs were extremely happy and slept all night with out needing to go out. We were very pleased to have Keshia as oidog sitter.”

“Meg was just great. This was our first time leaving Kurtis overnight and based on the many pictures that Meg sent and her text messages to us he adjusted very well and was happy. She followed directions that we left and the house was in perfect order when we arrived home. We are looking forward to having Meg dog sit for Kurtis again.”

About: I have always loved dogs my entire life. My childhood dog I had at 4 years old I was never able to live with, he lived with my aunt. He passed in 2024 and I have been missing my dog time ever since. I do love cats as well (not as much as dogs obviously), but I live with two cats and they’ve been with me since I was 8! By the way the last 2 pictures are a Costa Rican cat and an Icelandic cat! I work full time with kids with autism, and that takes up every weekday 9am-6pm. I would be available on weeknights Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and weekends as well! I am willing to do whatever is needed for the pet! I haven’t cared for a dog in a couple years, but I can learn what is needed as long as you tell me what to do!
“I have two cats that get very upset when I'm away, but Emma took care of them like they were her own and they were two happy boys when I got back. So grateful for the care and thought she put into our boys and our home”

About: I’ve taken care of large and small dogs for the past couple of years. I started with family and friends animals and have recently started watching other peoples animals and I really enjoy it. I’ve walked, bathed, feed and swam with pets. I work part time at a movie theater and have a flexible schedule and can request days off if need be or work in the morning rather than night and vise versa if you need morning care. I Can crate dogs if needed, I won’t feed your pet anything unless okayed by owner first. I live to take pictures of animals so I can provide updates if needed. I enjoy walking and running with animals so if they need a walk outside or a ball thrown around a fenced yard I would be happy to do so.
“Shauna kept us updated with photos and had great communication with us during out trip. The house was as we left it and the dogs well cared for, would recommend and book again.”

“We are very grateful to Isabelle for staying with our two dogs and cat when we were out of town for the weekend. She provided regular updates (which were so appreciated), was flexible in scheduling our initial meeting, and left the house in great condition. Would recommend her and book her again!”
“Morgan is a fantastic pet sitter! I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation knowing my dog and cat were in the best hands. Her communication was perfect, from coordinating a meet and greet through the end of sitting. She followed my pet's routines and gave them tons of love and attention, I highly recommend her! She also sent me pictures and video updates which were super appreciated.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Preston City walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Preston City maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Preston City choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
