“Hazels second visit here and she came home a happy pup just like the first time. Alyce and her family take great care of her thanks so much Alyce (special thanks to Granddaughter ❤️”

“Milli had a great weekend with Erin & Chris! They spoiled her while she was there! She also was very relaxed even after she returned home! I would definitely recommend them and appreciate that they limit the number of dogs at one time! Thanks Erin & Chris!”

“Osvaldo was wonderful and kept us up to date on our pup. Daily videos and pictures of the daily walks, meals, and potty breaks. We will be using him again!”

“Casandra was such a pleasure to work with. She was in contact everyday and sent photos and videos for us to see how well he was doing. My high energy puppy has such a great time with his stay. Highly recommend her services.”

“Kevin was incredibly responsive in scheduling a somewhat last-minute booking, shared photos of Monte throughout his stay and provided consistent updates, and treated Monte like his own. Will absolutrly be using Kevin again and would highly recommend him.”

“My wife and I left the country for about 10 days and were worried because we have never left our dog with strangers or in a kennel because he is older and adopted. He has a weird routine and glaucoma so he needed a little extra care but they handled him perfectly and he fit right into their routine. Melanie and her family saved us 100%! They constantly sent us pics and updates on him which made us feel better. They took care of him as if he was part of their family and we greatly appreciate it. 10/10!”

“Only positive things to say, whether it’s communication or how caring she is of our dog and other dogs in her care. Our dog can’t get out of the car fast enough when we get to her house, the truth is in the tail wags, he loves staying with Elizabeth!”

“Rebekah was awesome! This was our first time using a dog sitter so we were a little nervous. We had a visit with her dogs and after a little while, we were comfortable they would get along ok. Rebekah was very flexible and responsive and sent us pictures every day. She truly took care of our dog and loved her like her own. She had so much fun, which helped us to relax and not worry while we were away. It was a great experience and we will definitely use Rebekah in the future and recommend her to anyone.”

“Molly is simply the best! My dogs are always happy to go visit and Molly communicates with me throughout the boarding time. I will continue to use Molly and recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic pet sitter!”

“Awesome experience! I was nervous about leaving my dog with someone outside of family for the first time, especially for an extended period. Mackenzie and Anthony did a fantastic job keeping us updated, sending lots of pictures and videos while we were away. They're genuine, dog-loving people who truly want your pup to have a great time in your absence. Highly recommend!”

“Maricela was awesome with easing in Sami into her home, giving her space to get used to the new environment. She sent pictures daily and was always incredibly responsive in both the inquiry and once booked. She accommodated our requests and was incredibly friendly. Definitely recommend Maricela if you are looking for someone that will treat your pet as their own!”

“Communicated really fast with us, asked us important questions she needed to know about our dog Teddy, and Teddy came home really tired (which is a very good thing). Thank you so much for taking care of my dog!”

About: I have a basset hound, the most stubborn of them all. I am used to food thieves, and shenanigans! I have done canine hospice care and fostered senior dogs through a rescue shelter. I have also done pet sitting in my home, including a Doberman all last summer while his owner recovered from surgery. I meet your dog where they are, striving to stick to their routines no matter if in my house or in theirs. I am home a majority of the time to spend time with the dogs staying with me. It also gives me plenty of time to schedule house visits for cats or dogs. I strive to stick to your dog’s routine when staying at my place. If they sleep in the bed at night they can sleep in my bed, if they crate then we will crate. I have a dog and a cat that don’t mind sharing their space as long as they have their personal space.
“Scott did a great job watching our dog over the weekend. He provided us pictures all weekend long and helped ease our anxiety with our first experience of boarding our pup. Will definitely book again in the future.”

About: I grew up with many dogs, and currently own two giant Newfoundlands that are basically my full time job outside of my full time job. They love other pups and so do I! I typically like to do most gigs on weekends, but I do work from home and can accept some dog boarding cases during the week occasionally. I have a fenced in backyard with some stairs going down from our deck. We have two very chill newfoundlands that get along with most pups, but a meet and greet is required to determine that.
“We absolutely loved having our Weimaraner, Hollis stay with Jacquelyn and her family! We felt so comfortable leaving her and Hollis enjoyed her time with them as well! There was never a doubt that she was safe and in excellent hands with them. We will definitely be rebooking with Jacquelyn every time we need to leave our Hollis.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Prairie City home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Prairie City.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Prairie City sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
