About: I've taken care of all types of dogs for over 21 years. I'll treat any dog as if it was my own. I have a large backyard in the country on a private road that is a self contained peninsula right on the banks of the West Canada Creek. With miles of well maintained walking paths through the woods and on the Creek's bank, there is no shortage of places to go on adventures, all without having to worry about anyone else. If I ever need to leave, you can rest assured that you're pup won't be lonely, as my retired parents also live just a quarter mile away. My dad, Steve, is especially helpful, and is always there to come down and stay with your pet, let the them out/walk them. He's happy to meet you and your dog(s) during a meet and greet beforehand as well. I'm currently 100% working from home. You're dog will always have someone physically there with them. If I need to step out for an hour or so, do not fret. My dad, Steve, will step in and make sure your dog gets one-on-one special care while I'm away. He's retired and lives just 1/4 mile away. Additionally, I have indoor cameras to monitor, and even speak with both your pup and my dad while away. So nothings ever going to catch me off guard. All dogs have their own unique needs, so I'm going to rely on you and I will ask you for any specifics your pet(s) might need. I will tailor my care based on your input. Just to illustrate both ends of the spectrum , if you want me to crate your dog, I can do that. I'm also totally fine giving free reign to my house if your dog is trustworthy not to do any damage. If their are worries about your pet getting into anything and doing any property damage, I'm very diligent in making sure I remove anything that could cause an issue (including putting up gates, providing stimulation toys, and making sure there is nothing he/she can get into food wise). If you want to board your pet with me, typically I'll do a meet and greet at my place to introduce myself to you and your pet(s), as well as show you my property both inside my house as well as my large countryside property. If your not boarding at my house, depending on where you live, I can meet at your place to meet you and your dogs. I know what a dog with separation anxiety can do, and know how expensive the damages can be. Thankfully, my retired parents live just up the road and can make sure your pup isn't alone for anymore than a few hours at most during the workweek. My dad is still very active and great with dog walks. So if for some reason I am stuck at work that day, my dad can come down to visit your pet, take her for a walk, or just keep company. Lastly, I have an 15 year old female Terrier mix that stays with my retired parents just up the road, she's very sweet with other dogs and cats, and is only 18 lbs. If I have to leave your pup alone for a few hours, she can provide company to your dog as well, supervised by my dad, if wanted. This is totally up to you, though.
“Katelyn was an enthusiastic and extremely competent sitter! She is a good communicator that got along well with our two cats and provided an excellent quality of care. I would definitely book with her again!”

“Melinda was wonderful with our girls. We have a very fresh Frenchie and Melinda was great with her. She was very communicative and sent super cute pics. Will definitely book her again.”

About: I've taken care of dogs for a long time. It started when I was young, probably around the age of 10, but of course I couldn't drive, so my mom had to help out. I have always had a love for animals, and I always will. I am enrolled at Utica University completing my master's. I also coach U12 girls soccer. That may sound like I have a pretty busy schedule, but since I live at home, it is not bad at all. I am also a substitute teacher, which allows me to choose when I work based on how my schedule looks for that given week. Pet safety is of the utmost importance to me. Families are relying on me to care for their beloved animals while away for a day or a few days. Playing outside or relaxing inside are all things I love to do, based on the dog's needs. Walks are always fun, too!
“Gabriella was great with our cat Maple. Maple was perfectly happy while we were away because of Gabriella's great care every day. She even left Maple a Christmas gift, which she loves! We will definitely book Gabriella again if we need another cat sitter.”

About: I have extensive experience caring for pets at every stage of life. I’ve been caring for pets since I was 5 years old, starting with my first cat, Rosie, and over time I’ve gained hands-on experience with both kittens and senior cats. I’ve raised four kittens (three rescues) myself, so I’m very familiar with the patience, attention, and consistency needed for young pets. Additionally, I have experience caring for both puppies and senior dogs, through the care of my own pups and friends’. I have lots of experience caring for senior pets, including administering medications, managing special diets, and assisting with more advanced care such as subcutaneous (IV) fluids. Because of this, I’m very attentive to changes in behavior or health and can provide a higher level of care for pets with medical needs. I treat every pet like my own and prioritize their comfort, safety, and overall well-being. I work as a Medical Assistant full time on weekdays from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, but my evenings and weekends are wide open, giving me plenty of flexibility to care for pets. I’m based in Utica and am happy to travel as needed for drop-in visits, walks, or longer stays. This schedule allows me to provide consistent, reliable care while being attentive to pets’ needs. I provide care either in my pet-friendly, secure residence (keycard access) or in the client’s home, depending on their needs. I am flexible and attentive to any special requests, and I have experience caring for pets with medical needs, including administering medications and managing special diets. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priorities.
About: I have 3 years of experience taking care of cats and dogs of a variety of breeds, and have worked with puppies as well as older pets in home environments such as suburbs, cities, and rural areas. I am happy to cater to your pet's special needs, and I focus on respecting each pet's boundaries and getting to know them on a case by case basis, with the hope that they grow to trust me as much as they trust you! Since I am a writer who works remotely, I am open on a weekly basis and am able to be flexible in order to meet your scheduling requirements. I work hard to ensure that your pet's personal boundaries are not crossed while we take time to get to know each other. I especially care about learning their preferences in order to earn their favor and eventually their trust. Depending on each pet, I try to be very sensitive to any shifts in their mood or behavior, such as if they get anxiety when left alone or are afraid of loud weather.
About: Ive taken care of dogs my whole life but i love all kinds of pets ive had them since i was born and i even have my own Boston terrier named Kona and a cloud calico named turnip I stay at home and my husband works Sat-Mon we have the rest of the days free and will be able to drop in or walks Tues-Fri Me and my husband take our pets with us everywhere we love to include where we can and we love them like our own children we always try to keep everything as clean as possible
About: Quality pet care, mixed with love, exercise, fun, and safety. That is what I'm all about. I have loved pets since was younger, and first started working with pets as a pet sitter/dog walker. I loved getting to know fur babies and what makes them happiest. I like bringing new buddies home for Lui and mostly I like helping people have a little more time by taking amazing care of their loved ones while at work. I'm happiest when I'm with my pup Lui. He's soon to be 2 years old and still is my spoiled little boy. The love I have for Lui is the love your baby will get when booking with me. We go on walks, we learn new tricks, and get lots of exercise! The more energy the better! I've also had experience dealing with pets with anxiety or aggressive tendencies. Not new to taking my time to build trust and offering a separate space to a dog who needs it. I have cameras in my house offer peace of mind that your loved one is safe & see all the fun we have when indoors, like TV time or tug of war. It's always a fun time and I'm always here for it. I organize my schedule mostly to work with pets full time, my work occupies me from 4 AM to about noon and work 5 minutes from my house with liberty to stop in at any point. Most days I am here through the mornings too so your furry loved ones get undivided attention. I only book dogs in time blocks of 5 hours, so I am never over crowded when it comes to boarding or day care. I like to be sure each pet is taken care of personally and effectively. Pet-Sitting: Often this service for me changes based on owner preference. It requires more in depth detail about the home life of the pet. One reason for this is to ensure I am not interrupting any routines the pet may have. Boarding & Day Care: I treat all pets as if they were my very best friend. We have tv time together (Dog TV), we go on two 30 minute walks within the 5 hour time block. We even eat meals together. Being that my yard is unfenced I personally walk the dogs on leash for 30-45 minutes. Meals for pets are based on owner specifications. Overnight boarding being different in a sense of they get one night walk before bed time/wind down time. They are uncrated (unless the owner specifies to do so), so they have full use of the living area and pets are allowed to be on the furniture purchased for them (Although I am not new to waking up and them being on the couch!)
About: I have always had dogs in my care. Currently, I have two well behaved dogs. One rescued and another with health concerns. I am familiar with medication administration. I am very active and often take my dogs on hikes and walks around the community. My fenced in yard allows dogs to socialize, roam, and enjoy a safe space when not on the trails. Aside from a dog owner, I am a teacher and have availability to take care of pets in my home. I would be available afternoons, evenings, and weekends every week. I live a very active lifestyle and have the property and means to take care of your pet for short and long term visits. In addition exercise, I offer a clean and nurturing environment for your dogs to play with mine. Additionally, I do stop in visits to walk, let out, and feed dogs outside of boarding. I am a mature professional with years of experience. I know the right calls to make while taking care of pets.
“Patricia was a pleasure to work with and did even more than we asked. She handled food, water, boxes, medications, and even a couple of unexpected issues and did a wonderful job. Would use again and highly recommend!”

About: I love taking care of animals but I also love truly engaging with your pets, and giving them extra love each time I'm with them. I try to make it a little easier for them with their family being away by making sure they are entertained and happy. I have very flexible availability, mainly mornings, afternoons, and early evenings. I am always willing to discuss specific availability needs and I have a very flexible schedule. I love really engage and play with your pets and to send lots of pictures and share updates when I stay with your pet overnight.
About: Being an animal lover is in my blood. Growing up on a farm, it had to be. I have 2 cats and one dog, and work in a shelter part time. Animals are my passion! I work part time and have plenty of free time! I treat this seriously like any other job, and will love your pets like my own. Depending on your needs, care will vary. I can provide walks, mental stimulation/enrichment, short training sessions, social interactions with my bomb proof dog! Let me know what you need, as I am here for YOU and your pet!
About: With 5 years of dedicated experience in pet care, I provide a comprehensive and compassionate service tailored to the unique needs of each animal. My expertise extends beyond basic care to include specialized skills such as positive reinforcement-based puppy training, helping to establish good habits from an early age. I also have a deep understanding of senior dog care, including administering medication, providing gentle exercise, and creating a comfortable, low-stress environment. I have experience managing a variety of medical conditions, ensuring your furry family member is safe and well-cared for at all times. My goal is to be a trusted partner in your pet's health and happiness, providing peace of mind while you're away. Each morning starts with feeding, watering, and a potty break for the pets in my care. This is followed by a morning walk or playtime to get their energy out and start the day on a positive note. Throughout the day, I follow individual schedules, which might include specific feeding times for puppies or senior dogs, medication administration, or scheduled walks and potty breaks. The afternoon often includes another round of playtime or enrichment activities, such as puzzle feeders or training sessions, to keep their minds engaged. Evenings are typically quieter, with a final feeding and potty break before a relaxing wind-down. My weekly routine involves a bit more planning. I coordinate with pet owners to schedule walks, check-ins, or overnight stays. I also use this time to restock on supplies and keep detailed records of each pet's behavior, eating habits, and health. If a pet is in my care for an extended period, I might schedule a grooming appointment to ensure they're in top shape. My schedule is built around the needs of the pet, ensuring they receive consistent, loving care and that their owners have peace of mind. Caring for pets, whether on my own or a client's, requires a responsible and attentive approach to ensure their well-being. A fundamental aspect is providing a consistent routine, including scheduled feeding times with high-quality, species-appropriate food and fresh water that is always accessible. Regular exercise is crucial for both physical and mental health; this can range from daily walks for dogs to interactive playtime. Environmental enrichment, such as toys, scratching posts, and comfortable bedding, helps prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. It's also vital to maintain a clean and safe living space by regularly cleaning food and water bowls, litter boxes, and bedding. Beyond daily care, a thorough pet care plan includes regular grooming, such as brushing and nail trims, and staying up-to-date on veterinary care, including vaccinations and preventative treatments for fleas, ticks, and worms. For client homes, clear communication is paramount. It is important for me to obtain detailed instructions regarding the pet's specific needs, routines, medications, and any behavioral quirks, as well as emergency contact information. This holistic approach, combining routine care with attention to individual needs and a focus on safety and hygiene, ensures a happy and healthy life for any pet under my care.

I always follow your pet’s training, routines, and any special requirements to ensure consistent, safe, and loving care. Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
