“Claire has been a lifesaver for our family and her expertise with all our animals has been priceless. We have a total of 5 pets both cats and dogs. They immediately love her and treat her as if they have known her for years. She has performed house sitting for us for extended periods of time on long trips and our home and pets have been so well taken care of we can’t thank her enough. We do not have to worry when gone for long periods of time. She is awesome!”

About: I’ve always been around animals. I got my first dog at age 8 and have always had one since. I love all animals and will love yours like my own. I am a stay at home mom so I have a very flexible schedule. I can house sit or do drop in visits depending on the need. I have a fully fenced backyard on half an acre so there is plenty of space for the dogs to run and have so much fun!
About: Since the 3rd grade I’ve enjoyed taking care of various breeds of dogs. Having a furry friend of my own most of life implemented the care and compassion needed to take care of our furry companions and i’ve always enjoyed doing so. As a senior in college, my schedule doesn’t really fit a traditional 9–5, but it’s perfect for pet care! I love having the flexibility to pop in for walks, playtime, or quick visits throughout the week. I have a completely fenced in yard, screened back deck, crates, doggy beds, and lots of toys! When in town from school, I also have a playful Maltese that wouldn’t mind keeping your furry friend company.

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life and have experience with both younger and older pets. This past summer, I cared for two dogs and two cats for a week, handling feeding, walks, and daily routines. I also helped train my two puppies in 2024, so I’m comfortable with high-energy dogs and basic training. In addition, I’ve helped care for my grandparents’ older dog, so I understand the patience and attention senior pets need. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. My boyfriend and I moved to Charleston this summer! He has an internship from 10-6:30 during the week, and my internship is from home. I also have a part time job, but I will be home during the week a lot. We also are home pretty much every evening. We both love dogs! I have two dogs back home and both have experience taking care of dogs of all ages. Our apartment area has a really nice spot to walk dogs. I always prioritize safety and making pets feel comfortable in their environment. I follow all care instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, and any specific needs. I’m attentive, patient, and make sure pets feel relaxed and cared for whether I’m in your home, they’re in mine or I’m checking in on them.

I am available and ready to spend time with your furry family members on short notice. Looking forward to many fun filled days with your pets. I will take care of your pets as if they were mine. About: Having shared my home with every kind of pet since I was a child, I bring a deep, intuitive understanding to pet care that goes beyond the basics. This extensive experience has given me a special skill for navigating the unique challenges of both ends of the spectrum: I excel at the positive reinforcement needed for training energetic puppies and have the gentle, patient touch required to provide comfort and specialized care for senior pets. When you entrust me with your furry family member, you're choosing a sitter who offers not just reliability, but a genuine, experienced friendship for your pet I have the wonderful luxury of a completely open schedule, which allows me to make pet care my top priority. This means your pet gets my undivided attention, and I can be there for them consistently throughout the day, every day. My approach to in-home pet care is to provide seamless, consistent care while maintaining your pet's normal routine. I minimize their stress by keeping them in their familiar environment. If needed to stay in your own home. If they were to come to my home: I have 3 young kids, however if necessary to be away from kids we could do in your home. When pets stay with me, they become part of my family. My home is a safe, loving, and pet-centric environment where they receive constant attention.
About: Background/experience in veterinary medicine. I am very comfortable with giving medication, taking care of special needs/senior pets. I treat every pet as if they are my own. I currently own my own equine business which means I set my own hours. I am a very active person so including other animal duties into my daily life is not difficult. I treat each pet as if they were my own. I would do everything I could to keep them comfortable in their own home while their owners are away. Even if that means sitting on the floor while they take a nap so they don't feel alone.

About: As an animal owner myself, I know what I look for in a pet sitter, your fur babies will be cared for just as you care for them. I also do photography as a hobby, you will always have cute photos sent to you. I am a stay at home mom, because my schedule is flexible, I'm able to work around what is needed for taking care of your fur babies. I have found that when a new person enters an animals schedule, staying on the schedule they are used to helps everyone adjust. I feel keeping the animal (s) on a schedule they're used to is helpful.
About: I've had animals all my life. I've taken care of everything from dogs and cats to lizards and guinea pigs. My dogs are well trained, I have a 2 year old German Shepard and a 9 month old cat currently. They have had plenty of exposure with other animals. I love to interact with new animals and they will be under the best care when with me. I will strive to give your loved ones the attention they need. My 3 year old German Shepard and 1 yr old cat offer a fun friend to play with. Plenty of toys and treats available. House is big enough to divide spaces if breaks are needed. Schedules are put in place as to ease transitions from one home to the other.

About: I have been taking care of people's pets since I was 12 years old. Dogs, cats, fish, turtles, tortoises, gerbils, hamsters, frogs, lizards, guinea pigs, ferrets, etc. I have experience with everything from Yorkies to Wolfhounds, puppies to seniors, high energy to lazy. I have taken care of indoor cats, outdoor cats, cats who only hide, cats who bite, and cats who love me to death. I have no problem giving medicine, dealing with pets who have unique issues, or with breeds often stereotyped as aggressive. I have four cats, a Yorkie, and a Pitbull at home. I graduated from USC with my BA in English this past December. I plan to attend graduate school in the Fall of 2026. Until then, I am working and saving as both a pet-sitter and a substitute teacher. My schedule is extremely flexible as I decide when and where I work. If I'm substitute teaching, it is between Monday and Friday from 8 AM - 3:30 PM. I do not substitute teach every single day. My weekends, evenings, and summer are especially open. It is extremely nerve-wracking to trust a stranger with a beloved member of your family as well as access to your home. It is my goal to make my clients feel as at ease as possible. I am very easy-going and flexible, so I encourage my clients to simply be honest about their expectations and boundaries. I will take care of your pets, house, garden, etc as if they were my own.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orangeburg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orangeburg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orangeburg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
