About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover who recently moved to the area after spending the last 24 years in Washington state. With all the kids off to college, I’m now enjoying being a stay-at-home dog and cat mom and would love to use my extra time to help other pet parents feel confident that their animals are happy, loved, and cared for while they’re away. I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life, and I grew up on a farm surrounded by a variety of animals. Caring for animals has always been something that comes naturally to me. I understand that pets are family, and I treat every animal in my care with the same patience, kindness, and attention I would want for my own. After years of working in a busy career, I especially appreciate having the time to slow down and enjoy the companionship of animals. I’d love to help dogs get some exercise, attention, and affection during the day so they aren’t stuck at home alone for hours while their families are at work. In the past we used this service to make sure our pets were well cared for while we were at work. It was so valuable for not only to our animals, but to us Whether your dog needs a midday walk, some playtime and companionship, or you need someone dependable to check in on your pets, I’m happy to help. My background in healthcare has also taught me to be responsible, attentive to details, and comfortable handling unexpected situations. Most importantly, I want your pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re in my care. I’d be happy to meet you and your pets beforehand so we can make sure we’re a great fit! Your pets may be your babies, but I’ll treat them like they’re mine. 🐾❤️ I am currently staying home and staying active with my standard poodle, Eevee and my cat, Moo. I have worked in surgery for close to 30 years and now that I’m home full time, I want to fill my time with things I love and make me happy. I have a fully fenced backyard with a swimming pool. I do have one standard poodle, who is super friendly and ball obsessed. I do have one cat who is a rescue from a hoarding situation and loves to play with dogs.We have a large home with all kids off to college. Animals sleep with us.
“Harry did an excellent job in taking care of our babies We appreciated the daily updates as Mom was worried. We will definitely use him again. Thanks for the care and service.”

About: I've had dogs my whole life, usually two at a time, so walking a pair or keeping up with a high-energy pup feels pretty normal to me. In college I watched friends' dogs on the weekends, and honestly I still jump at any excuse to hang out with one. I'm active and spend a lot of my free time outside, so your dog will get real walks and plenty of playtime, plus some downtime when they're ready to crash. Puppies, big dogs, little dogs, they're all welcome. I'm dependable, I pay attention to the small stuff, and I'll send you photos and updates so you're never left wondering how things are going. I work a regular weekday job, so I'm free weekday evenings after 4:30 and pretty much all day on weekends. I'm also happy to squeeze in an early morning walk before work if your pup needs one. Evenings and weekends are when I'm out walking, hitting the park, and just hanging out. I come to you, so your dog gets to stay home with their own bed, their own smells, and their normal routine. I'll stick to your feeding schedule, meds, and house rules exactly, keep them leashed on walks, and lock up every time I leave. I never take on more than two dogs at once, so nobody gets ignored. You'll get photos and a quick update every visit, and if anything ever seems off, I'll reach out right away.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years and have two dogs of my own, so I understand how important it is to have someone you can truly trust with your pets. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, playtime, check-ins, routines, and giving lots of attention and affection. I treat every dog like they’re part of my own family and always make sure owners feel comfortable and updated while they’re away. I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to give your pets the attention and care they need. I’m available for drop-in visits throughout the week and can work around your pet’s normal feeding, playtime, walking, and daily routine. I always follow your pet’s normal routine and respect their personality, comfort level, and boundaries. I’ll make sure they have fresh food and water, plenty of attention, playtime, walks if needed, and a clean, safe environment. I’ll also keep you updated so you know your pet is happy and well cared for while you’re away.
About: My name is Destiny and I grew up caring for large and small dogs and cats. I have hands-on experience raising puppies and kittens from birth through adulthood. As an adult, I continue to care for both cats and dogs, including adopted shelter cats and my own Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle. Both of my dogs are neutered, gentle and affectionate. My Standard Poodle loves to run and play and can be wonderfully bouncy, but he's also surprisingly nurturing and likes to make sure everyone is okay. My Labrador is basically Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh—a lovely potato who is particularly drawn to wee, scrappy dogs. I actively study canine behavior and learning. I train and participate in dog sports including obedience, scent work/nose work, agility, Barn Hunt and NASDA. I'm comfortable observing canine body language, following established training and management routines, providing enrichment, and adapting my approach to the individual dog. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy getting to know animals as individuals. I don't expect every dog or cat to immediately love me, and I don't force interaction. I believe comprehensive care starts with paying attention to what makes an animal feel safe, comfortable and understood. I work from home with a flexible schedule and control over my own hours, which gives me plenty of time to incorporate walks, play, enrichment, meals, potty breaks and companionship throughout the day. Our household is unusually quiet and relaxed. There are no children in the home, and my neighborhood is a peaceful residential area that's well suited to walks and downtime. Pets staying with me have opportunities for activity and engagement, but also plenty of time and space to settle, nap and simply relax. Because I'm home much of the day, pet care fits naturally into my routine rather than having to be squeezed in around a long commute or rigid work schedule. I believe pet care starts with understanding the *individual* animal. I take time to learn each pet's normal routine, temperament, preferences, training cues, feeding needs and anything that may make them uncomfortable or stressed. My approach is calm, patient and attentive. I don't force interactions, and I pay close attention to body language and changes in behavior. I follow owners' established routines and management instructions carefully because consistency can make being away from home much easier for a pet. My home is clean, quiet, child-free and low-stress, in a peaceful residential neighborhood. I want visiting pets to have a comfortable place where they can play and engage when they want to, but can also settle and rest without constant activity, noise or disruption. When caring for pets in their own homes, I bring the same approach: respect the animal's familiar environment, follow the household's routines carefully, communicate reliably with the owner, and leave things exactly as I found them.
About: My experience with animals goes far beyond pet sitting. I began volunteering at a wildlife rehabilitation center at age 10 and continued through age 16, which sparked my lifelong passion for animal care. I went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Wildlife Conservation and Ecology. I’ve also worked in multiple veterinary clinics as a surgical assistant and spent a year working in animal control. These experiences have given me hands-on experience handling animals, recognizing changes in behavior, following care instructions, and staying calm in unexpected situations. I understand that every pet has different needs, personalities, and routines. Whether your dog needs an active day, extra patience, medication or special care, or simply a safe and comfortable place to relax, I’m committed to providing attentive, knowledgeable care and treating your pet like one of my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine and is something I genuinely enjoy. I have the flexibility to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care rather than treating it as something I squeeze into a busy schedule. My days can include walks, outdoor time, play, enrichment, and plenty of one-on-one attention, while also making sure pets have time to relax and feel comfortable. I’m intentional about keeping each pet’s normal routine as consistent as possible, including their feeding, exercise, and rest schedules. I also enjoy being active outdoors, so dogs who love walks and adventures will have plenty of opportunities to get their energy out! Whether caring for pets in my home or a client’s home, I focus on making them feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. I take the time to understand each pet’s personality, habits, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any special instructions before their stay. My background in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary clinics, and animal control has taught me how important it is to pay close attention to behavior and recognize when something is out of the ordinary. I’m comfortable handling animals with different personalities and energy levels and understand the importance of patience, supervision, and a calm environment. I also love keeping dogs active with walks, play, enrichment, and outdoor time when appropriate. Most importantly, I treat every pet as an individual and care for them with the same attentiveness and respect I would want for my own. I have my own fenced in yard and a large sized kennel in my home if needed.
About: Animals have always been a big part of my life. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, hamsters, turtles, and fish, and I love getting to know each pet’s unique personality. I have experience caring for my own dogs and cats and understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, cuddles, or a quiet companion, I’ll make sure they get the attention and care they need. I will treat your pets as if they were my own and do everything I can to make their time with me enjoyable and stress-free. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I am not working but I have a 20 month baby who loves walk, and he is used to big dogs and he loves animals so in the morning he will be my companion in the strollers but in the afternoon after my husband gets home I can walk your dog with no baby. “Brian was communicative, speedy with responses and showed up at the exact time that was requested. He made sure Heidi got outside to do her business and got her settled in before he left. Will definitely be using Brian again this ski season + any day trip that happens in the future!”

“Alyson was amazing with my 2 kitties! She asked great questions during the meet and greet that I didn’t even think of like whether I needed any plants watered and if she needed to adjust the thermostat at all. There were some technical difficulties with my reptile enclosure and she was so helpful in figuring it out while I was away. As for my kitties, they seemed very content when we returned from our trip so I know she cared for them well and I sooo appreciated the daily update pictures. I highly recommend her and would definitely book her again. Thanks Alyson :)”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
