“Jess was a wonderful host and her property is a perfect dog retreat. Jess sent regular updates and photos showing how happy my dog was. My dog got lots of exercise and attention. He loved hanging with her dog and her family. Jess also has a lot of dog experience as a breeder which I appreciated. Thank you so much Jess!”

“Nancy was incredibly accommodating! She took my senior dog in for a last minute boarding request and even kept him slightly over my requested pick-up time when I was stuck on the road. Nancy provided the ideal environment for my pup and sent me updates/pictures during his stay. I will definitely be booking with her again in the future.”

“Jean is super sweet and accommodating. She sent lots of photos and updates and took really great care of our border collies. Jean has a lovely space with a big, fenced backyard and two dogs of her own that are very friendly! I would definitely recommend and book again 🙂”

“This has been my fourth time booking Aimee. Her and her family are amazing to my dog! Im so happy I found them. They are flexible, reliable and very nice to my dog!! I would 100% recommend them! Thanks again”

“Our pups stay with Ashley every time we leave town. I won’t consider leaving them with anyone else. If she’s not available, we change our plans. Our pups get treated like family. Ashley and her family are the best!”

“Dylan is awesome! He is professional, responsive and very attentive to details of care provided to the doggos. I was impressed right off the bat and my boi Max seemed to really enjoy his time with Dylan. We look forward to future visits!”

About: Hi! A little about my pet-care experience: I’ve been caring for my own pets, as well as my neighbors’ animals, since I was a child. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, fish, hamsters, and mice, and I also have some experience caring for cows and chickens. I’m comfortable administering medications to dogs, including pills, liquids, nasal drops, and topical medications. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, as I currently have two senior dogs of my own. I understand the extra patience, attention, and care that senior pets may need. I truly enjoy spending time with animals and will treat your pets like they’re my own! 🐾 I work from home and run an online business so I have plenty of time to checkin, play with, walk, and snuggle your fur babies. I am flexible with hours and open to a long term set schedule. I am open to caring for dogs in my home depending on size, breed, and demeanor. I have two small senior dogs who aren’t in the mood for high energy at this time in their life. I do have a fully fenced yard with grass, lots of shade, and a small doggy door to go in and out as they please (if they fit). I’m walking distance to the river trail and Caldwell Park. Please reach out for inquiries and questions regarding overnights. In your home, you can expect respect and care for your space and your animal(s). I will follow your instructions and cater to your animal(s) needs, whether that be walks, play time, medications administered, food, accident clean up, or snuggles..or possibly all of the above :)
“I feel so blessed to have found Carley! My pup Faith has special needs and I never leave her with anyone but Carley.. it's so wonderful to know that she is being taken care of just like she's at home with me, so I'm not worried and I can have fun. Faith loves her time when she gets to stay with Carley and her friends!”

About: Hi! I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life and have experience caring for multiple pets at once, including different breeds, ages, and personalities. I’m comfortable adapting to each pet’s unique needs and routines. I work remotely, which means your pet will have constant supervision, and attention throughout the day. I treat every pet how I would want mine treated and strive to provide a calm, loving environment while you’re away. I work from home and have for over 5 years. This allowed the time to really watch over your pet and being able to handle anything they need. I have a fenced in small back yard. My apartment also offers locations to walk dogs and allow them to poop and get some extra room.

About: I have been around dogs my entire life and have over 20 years of experience caring for my own dogs as well as dogs belonging to family, friends, and neighbors. I truly love animals and understand how important it is to know your dog is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. I provide lots of attention, affection, playtime, daily walks, and outdoor time in our large, securely fenced backyard. I’m also happy to follow your dog’s normal feeding, sleeping, and care routine so they can feel as comfortable and at home as possible. Your dog will be treated like part of our family while they’re here. I currently work as a substitute teacher about 1–2 days per week, so I am home most days and evenings. This gives me plenty of time to give your dog lots of attention, playtime, potty breaks, and exercise. I also plan to take dogs in my care on a daily walk and make sure they get plenty of love and attention throughout their stay. I have a large, securely fenced backyard with plenty of room for dogs to run, play, and enjoy time outside. I also have friendly dogs of my own, so visiting dogs can have companionship and playtime when appropriate. I will always follow your dog’s normal feeding, sleeping, and care routine as closely as possible. I’m happy to accommodate crates if needed and will make sure your dog receives plenty of attention, exercise, and affection while staying with us.
“Lorrie was great. She was quick to respond and was flexible when we needed to change our days. She sent plenty of pictures and videos, showing us that our Phoebe was having a great time with the other dogs and enjoying her freedom on the property. It was like a retreat for our girl! We felt very safe with Phoebe in Lorries care and would love for her to return as needed.”

About: Hi! I’m a caring, responsible, and attentive pet lover who truly enjoys spending time with animals and making them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their families are away. 🐾 I have hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats. I currently have three dogs of my own, including Sage, whom I rescued, and I’ve also cared for a rescued cat for several years. Living with multiple pets has given me plenty of experience with different personalities, energy levels, routines, and individual needs. I’m comfortable with feeding, walks, potty breaks, playtime, keeping pets on their normal routines, and providing plenty of companionship and attention. I understand how important consistency and patience are, especially when a pet is in a new environment or away from their family. I currently work remotely, which gives me flexibility and allows me to spend quality time with pets throughout the day. I’m happy to follow your pet’s routine and any specific instructions you provide, because I know every pet is different. My goal is to give you peace of mind while you’re away and to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I’ll treat your pets with the same patience, kindness, and respect I give my own. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members! 🐶🐱🤎 I work remotely, so I have a flexible schedule and am happy to welcome your furry friends into my routine. I’m available weekdays and weekends, with plenty of time to give your pets the attention, care, and companionship they deserve. 🐾🤎 Whether your pet stays in my home or I care for them in your home, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I have a fenced yard and three friendly dogs who enjoy having company. I’m also an active person and would love to take your pup on walks, play with them, and give them plenty of attention while following their normal routine and your care instructions. 🐾🤎
About: I have had a dog since I was born. I started caring for my dog by the age of five. Then, I did overnights with a diabetic dog, with whom I had to administer medicine. Now, I have two dogs of my own who are very special. I currently work from home, so pet care fits in seamlessly with my routine. I also have a fenced-in yard, so potty breaks can be taken frequently. I am very attentive with care for pets in my home, and I’m my clients home. I always ensure there is fresh food and water. I make sure they have toys or chew toys to keep them occupied. I am always available to take time to play, and go on potty breaks.
“We cannot recommend Jared highly enough. From our very first interaction, his attention to detail and professionalism set him apart. He took the time to ask thoughtful, specific questions about our dog’s routines, preferences, quirks, and health history—everything from feeding schedules and portion sizes to behavioral cues and comfort habits. It was clear he wasn’t just “watching a dog”; they were committed to understanding and caring for our dog. Communication was exceptional throughout. We received consistent updates—photos, positive words about our dog’s behavior and how much he enjoyed watching our dog. Every message reassured us that our dog was not only safe, but genuinely happy and engaged. His knowledge of dog care was evident in both small and significant ways. He demonstrated confidence in handling, situational awareness on walks, and an understanding of canine behavior that gave us complete peace of mind. He was proactive rather than reactive, anticipating needs before they became issues. Our dog can be particular, yet he adapted seamlessly and respected established routines while building trust. What truly stood out was his authenticity. There was nothing transactional about his care—it was thoughtful, warm, and sincere. You can tell when someone genuinely loves animals, and that sincerity showed in every interaction. If you are looking for someone who blends professionalism, knowledge, attentiveness, and heartfelt care, his is extraordinary. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found him and highly recommend Jared to anyone looking for an outstanding pet sitter.”

“Jennifer is really nice and accommodating. She even took care of our pit Jada with short notice. She provided daily updates for Jada including photos of their activities. We found the perfect dogsitter for Jada in the Redding area, and we look forward to her dogsitting Jada in the near future. Thanks again Jennifer!”

“I felt 100% safe leaving my dogs with Alison while on a 2 week trip. The dogs immediately loved her, her property, and her dogs. Alison was great about sending updates, and immediately took care of an issue when Remi got sick after finding treasure in the kitty litter box (I had forgotten to warn her that my pups think it’s a candy box. 😜) I will leave the dogs with Alison again without hesitation.”

About: I grew up on a farm in the mountains. It introduced my love and experience for animals and the immense gratification involved. Since moving away I have took in many animals both to do my part personally in my home and giving the opportunity for others to have the same by rehabbing, sheltering and finding their forever homes. It has always been my dream to open a shelter, or even more fun a cat cafe. I am excited for the opportunity to share my love with your furbabies and am appreciative for the consideration. I am an entrepreneur from home so my schedule is very open. I am aware how hectic life can be and hope to take some of that weight off your shoulders. My cats are spoiled rotten. They are given wet food once a day on top of their dry food. They have their own room full of windows, an electric litter box and a door to their massive catio outside. As well as access to the rest of the home as given. They are given medications as needed and I use Dutch vet service to assist in staying on top of their general health. When it comes to your animals I will offer the same love and attention as I give mine while following the regimens given. As far as watching your animals in my home it will vary according to the needs and comfort of the animals I am watching.
About: I grew up with dogs. I have been living in a house now with 4 Shih Tzus ranging from 1.5 years old up to 16. I've gone through potty training all the way to eye drops. I am also owned by 5 cats so I am well versed in litter boxes and finicky eaters. I work full time Saturday through Wednesdays from 7am to 3pm. My housemate and partner works Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. There is almost always someone home to take care of the dogs. It is no issue for me to stop by before and after work for potties and so on. I am pretty much a low key person so hanging with the fur kids is about as exciting as I get. When I am sitting in someone's house I like to spend time with the pet. I make sure that when I leave the house I secure the doors, windows, etc. I am respectful of belongings and space. I like to make the fur kids feel like nothing is all that different as much as possible. If I'm just dropping in for walks/potty time I like to spend time with them for their comfort and stimulation. I'll make sure water is refreshed and food is full and boxes are emptied.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Oak Run home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Oak Run.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Oak Run sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
