About: I’ve been a loving parent to both cats and dogs for 25 years. I love animals and am happy to accommodate walk schedules, medications, injections, and of course, lots of playtime and scritches! My pup and I do pretty much whatever we want, whenever we want. I have a flexible work schedule and am often at home, so can accommodate desired potty break and walk times, medications, preferred activities (beach, dog park, hanging out at the house.) My pup is always ready for company and activity, but knows when it’s time to relax. I live in a private house set far back from the street, with a large, well kept (but unfenced) 1.5 acre yard. My dog, Pepper, is an extremely social, playful, but chill and well-behaved 5yr old neutered Jack Russell mix. He loves playtime with other dogs, but is respectful of the quieter styles of older dogs or dogs just needing rest. I have a comfy crate suitable for small to medium dogs (if you crate), lots of toys, and lots of time to engage with your sweetie. The area surrounding my home is safe and quiet, with many options for woodland walks. I live near dog-friendly beaches and the Saco river, so splashing is an option, too! If your dog has good recall, I can provide off-leash time in the 1.5 acre yard. I have a front porch with a protective gate to keep the sunbathers from getting out, and lots of space for indoor play time and resting as well.

“Our pup had a great day with Melissa and her family! She kept me updated on how he was doing and kept him active. He was so happy to see me at the end of the day but he also nuzzled Melissa and her daughter while we chatted about his day. It’s clear they gave him lots of love and attention! I highly recommend Melissa’s services!”

About: I have been taking care of animals since I could talk. We always had a zoo in our house growing up whether it was dogs, cats, ferrets, Guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, birds. Learned a lot about responsibility by taking care of all of the animals and neighbors and friends have always trusted me to watch their animal friends as well. I have also been a volunteer at Project Wildlife and worked in dog grooming salons as well as pet sitting for family friends. I work from home full time so I am always around to make sure the animals needs are being met. My schedule is pretty flexible so I usually have time to bring the dog for a walk or car ride and snuggle with the cats during lunch time. My partner, Chris, also lives in the home and as a big animal lover is always ready to lend a hand or give a good scratch. We have an electric fence we can train any regular visitors to use so they can free roam the yard with our dog or we will just use a leash if the dog does not have good recall per the owner’s instructions. We also live right next to a lake which we can walk to with the dogs during the summer.

“As I sincerely appreciate Vanessa, an extraordinary dog sitter, and walker, I cannot help but underscore her unmatched understanding of the bond between humans and their pets. She is more than a pet care professional; she is a devoted companion, a friend to our dog Nyx, and a cherished part of our family. Despite Nyx's protective nature, Vanessa's patience and serene demeanor won his trust swiftly. Under her attentive care, Nyx, who can be a big baby when comfortable, not only blossomed, but his health significantly improved, showcasing Vanessa's comprehensive expertise in pet care. Her proactive communication style has been imposing. Vanessa ensured we remained connected with Nyx, sharing regular updates, adorable photographs, and engaging tales from their daily adventures. This communication was heartwarming and assuring, reaffirming our confidence in Nyx's well-being and happiness under her care. In times of health concerns, Vanessa's promptness and reliability truly shone, and she was always ready to go the extra mile. We wholeheartedly recommend Vanessa to pet parents seeking the best for their furry family members. She is not just a dog sitter or walker but a lifeline for busy pet parents, providing love and comfort to our beloved Nyx and inspiring all who value the love and respect of pets. Vanessa, thank you for your unmatched dedication and the love you've shown Nyx and us. We look forward to continuing this incredible journey with you.”
