MUST LOVE DOGS & CATS Boarding + Daycare in our home I live with four other people: one human (my partner Jason), one canine (a 2-year-old Border Collie Poodle girl), and two felines (a 1-year-old girl and a 13-year-old queen). All of them are very friendly and well socialized. However, this means that if I board your dog, or take them in for daycare, they have to be familiar and respectful with cats, and well-socialized with dogs. Ideally they love playing and chasing (but not the cats). I work from home on my budding dog business, and I am enrolled in two different prestigious academies, studying canine behavior and training. It is easy for me to have another dog around, but I will require a visit to my house first to ensure the dogs get along, and your dog won't chase my cats. Ideally, we go for a walk together first, to give the dogs the opportunity to meet on neutral turf. I will only take one guest dog at a time. They'll get to play to their heart's content with my dog in a fully fenced large yard. My partner Jason and I just love all animals. I will be your sitter / primary caretaker, but in our home, Jason will give a lot of additional affection and attention, when he's around. I’ve been a dog parent for over 20 years, and have lots of experience with all ages and special needs. I am very diligent about catering to your dog’s specific needs and keeping you updated as frequently as you like, including lots of pictures. FORCE-FREE POLICY I will never use choke, prong, slip, or e-collars of any kind. If you want me to take your dog on walks, please bring a harness for safety. I usually drive my own dog to various trails in the area every morning and we go 3+ miles, I'd be happy to take yours on hikes, too, if they like car rides and can handle the exercise. Your dog will be with me and my dog all day long. Throughout the day, I take frequent breaks and let them out, be it for more walks, or a game of fetch or chase in our large yard. As soon as I'm certified as a dog trainer, I'll be happy to take on training as well. I will watch your dog in my home. I’ll adhere to their normal schedule and needs. They'll have a friendly play buddy in my own dog.

Let me know your goals- whether it's working on basic obedience training, incorporating more exercise into your dog's schedule, or simply having a day care/boarding location that provides a level of structure without adding other dogs into the mix. This can be especially beneficial for dogs who are reactive, as well as senior dogs who are not necessarily interested in playing with other dogs. Any dogs being boarded, or coming for doggy daycare will have some time spent in a crate during the day/overnight. They will be given individual attention, exercise and play time.

“Maria was amazing with our dog Lena! Lena was never upset when we dropped her off and never seemed anxious when we picked her up, which is saying a whole lot for Lena. Maria was awesome with the Rover reports, giving us lots of photos, a summary of her day, and a recount of her many walks and potty breaks. Maria is sweet as can be and really just everything you could hope for in a sitter for your pup. She gave us a complete peace of mind that our girl was in great hands. Thank you so much Maria!”

“Kevin (and his sweet greyhound) took great care of my dog for the day! He was very flexible when our schedule changed by about 90 min and we picked her up later than planned. So grateful!”

About: I grew up with cats, fostered dogs in my early 20s, and had the most incredible K9 companion for 14 years. My 14-year-old dog, Hendrix, passed on about two years ago and I am missing his presence and energy A LOT. I want to share my love with some more animals by providing dog walking and animal care for others. Previously, I have cared for and walked dogs for folks in the communities I've lives in via word of mouth. I've also been a volunteer at a local animal shelter, fostering and walking dogs. I have plenty of references upon request that can attest to my trustworthiness as well as the compassionate care I provide. I work from home and my schedule is fairly flexible. I can provide a comforting home for your animal to stay during the day and/or overnight. There are trails right outside my home that are great for walking so your dog would receive many lovely walks throughout the day. I will care for your pet as if they are mine and provide them with compassion, attention, exercise, and play. I will adopt the routine that the animal is familiar with and that best meets their needs. They will be in good hands!

“Bridget was very accommodating for my schedule and my two dogs needs. She was ready for them at 0730 on a Sunday morning and even was waiting outside when I arrived. She agreed to keep them separate from other dogs she was taking care of. She walked them and made sure they were comfortable and well taken care of. She kept me updated very often during the day as to their activities to include pictures.”

About: Becoming a pet sitter was a really natural process for me. I love animals and am very open to helping others. I started by becoming the go-to pet sitter for my friends and family, and then I found out about Rover! I offer both dog boarding and house sitting, as well as walks, drop ins and daycare. No matter what your dog needs, I can help! I'm lucky enough to have a flexible schedule that allows me to work from home every Summer. This allows me to supervise the animals in my care, and to provide them with lots of attention. I've had several dogs in my life with special needs like mobility issues or old age, so I know how to be mindful of these conditions. I'm easygoing, friendly and polite, it's not hard for humans or dogs to get along with me! When I'm not sitting I love gardening and baking. I do occasional work as a chef/baker and occasionally do some consulting work in those fields. I'm active and love hiking and walking around Craftsbury and the NEK. I genuinely care about all people, I enjoy doing nice things and love my friends and family. You can be confident that I will care for your pet and provide you with the peace of mind that comes from knowing your animal is with someone who loves them. I was active on Rover for a little less than a year back in Chicago and developed great relationships with many families, several of whom were regularly in contact for ongoing doggy care. I moved to Vermont to attend Sterling College to study Sustainable Food Systems and Social Justice. I love being in the NEK and will be here for years to come thanks to my partner's job. My full time employment fluctuates which makes pet sitting an ideal supplemental gig for me. Because Rover charges by the night-- I appreciate it if you pay for an additional night if you need me to stay past 10 AM the day of departure. Thanks! Supervision, open and honest communication, specific and appropriate activities and stimulation, and attentive care and nurturing spirit towards every one of the animals I come across.

About: Have taken care of dogs and cats since I was a child for both friends and family. I provide loving care for your home and pets to give a peace of mind while you're away. I work primarily remotely and have reliable transportation for all weather conditions. My kids are respectful of their pets and are home every other week. I have a large farm property and a friendly dog just waiting to wag her tail for a new friend to play with. My cat is very friendly and keeps to himself.

About: I love pets of all sizes and breeds, and am happy to make sure they each get plenty of exercise and play time! My 2 year old pup, Goose, loves meeting new buddies and is an excellent playmate!😊 I am home Monday-Friday so I’m able to keep up with frequent potty breaks if needed. Goose and I love having extra work from home buddies! I am happy to replicate any animals’ routine to keep them as comfortable and happy as possible while their people are away. You can enjoy your travels knowing your pets are safe and well taken care of - with plenty of photo updates!

“When there's a spider in the house, Julia gently catches it and releases it outside. She's a lover of animals, especially dogs. I watched her take care of two Schnauzers for the last 8 years, and they were the luckiest and healthiest dogs on earth (she taught them to love their veggies). Her life revolved around the happiness of them both, everything else came second. Your dogs will be in extremely good hands with Julia, well loved, healthily snacked, exercised and pampered. They'll be the center of her universe while they're in her care.”

“You couldn’t leave your pup in better hands! April has taken care of our fur babies many times. She’s responsible and dependable and our dogs are always ecstatic to see her. Although our Bernese and Labrador are different ages, with different personalities and needs, April always treats both as her own- with care, respect, and love. As a dog owner herself, she understands the attention to detail that pets require. Highly recommend her!”
