Wendy completed three drop-in visits for my two dogs recently and I look forward to booking with her again. She comes across as very professional and competent, and I was confident that she would take good care of my pets while I was away. My younger dog is very shy and anxious around new people, and Wendy was understanding and considerate with her. She was respectful of my privacy and living space, careful about following through with my requests, and I highly recommend her.

Christi was super friendly and helpful. I have seven cats, which can be tricky to manage when feeding, but she took great care of them. Christi was awesome and will definitely reach out again if we need a pet sitter.

Cori is a wonderful with our dog Juno. She is a puppy in her adolescent years and fairly new to us. We are working on all parts of her training and Cori is super patient with her and we really appreciate that. Our dog really looks forward to her weekly meetings with Cori and we are so happy we have a resource to help us with check ins and walks. Overall, wonderful experience and would highly recommend!

Lucinda is a gem! She did drop-in visits to take our dogs for walks and to play with them while we were away. We got daily reports and lots of photos. I felt confident that our pets were well cared for during her visits. She seems very kind, and was very careful and attentive to our dogs needs. I look forward to using her services again and highly recommend her. Thank you, Lucinda, you helped make our vacation stress free.:)

Hannah dropped in on my 8 month old puppy and cat for two days and was fantastic. Kiara and Ford liked her a lot and she was happy to do all the asks I had for her. She also sent a bunch of pictures and washed all the kongs I was using with the puppy. I would be happy to hire her again for next time.

Hayleigh did a wonderful job with our cats. They were adopted litter mates at the age of 3 months. They have never been without us, so they were a little shy about showing themselves. Everything was done as asked, feeding, litter box, etc. Would use again if the need arises.

Breanna is a life saver. We lost a sitter last minute and had to scramble, and she was there the next day for the meet & greet, prepared and taking notes and asking good questions. The Boys took to her immediately - she even got the shy one out on her 3rd visit. Good communication, great photos. Booking again right away!

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life. My family have relied on me to attend to theirs, giving them company, playing, going on walks, feeding and giving them water. About: Greetings! I'm Daniel, I've been pet-sitting and dog-walking off and on for 17 years. I love animals: With me, you get a new friend for your pets, and a dependable steward of your home. I believe in the Hawaiian meaning of "Kahu," that we should be guardians and beloved attendants of our animal friends. I devote highly sensitive heart-centered care for your pets for two main reasons: 1) I am a remote worker as a writer and healing coach, so I can be at home with our furry friends. I am not just feeding and walking your dog(s) and caring for your cats; I am providing emotional support and plenty of care (frequent outdoor breaks and walks, playtime, pats, massage, energy work, etc.). 2) I am a professional in the practice of meditation and the healing arts, a path that cultivates empathy, which helps me bond with animals and be more attuned to their needs. I have been on this path for 17 years. I am highly intuitive. I practice Eastern techniques of energy work (qi qong and martial arts) and I am a certified Reiki practitioner, so I love to connect with animals as part of that practice (they are great conductors of energy, which is only ever healing and calming for them to experience). I aspire to the highest level of performance and etiquette. I promise to treat your pets and space as sacred; to maintain a clear boundary between me and your possessions; and to leave no trace. I understand that by inviting me into your home to care for your pets and space that I am with you as a new friend. From my many years of cultivation on my spiritual, healing, and professional path, I assure you my integrity is outstanding, and I would be happy to send you testimonies and references to confirm. Thank you for your trust. I would be happy to chat about sitting or walking for you. I look forward to joining you and yours' in friendship. Warm regards, Daniel I will be available to be at home with your pet for most of every day that I am sitting. My only obligation that takes me out of house are walking other dogs (1 to 3 hours per day) and then the occasional social or other engagement. I will never leave your pet alone for longer than 5 hours. As a remote worker, both for writing and offering healing/coaching services, I work from home and am therefore able to maintain a comforting presence for your pet and provide frequent outdoor time, play, and other care. I recognize the great trust that people grant me in caring for their homes and pets. Integrity is a guiding value of my life: You can rest assured that I will honor my commitment to care for your space and pets with the utmost attention and respect. I'll honor your instructions for being in your house and caring for your pets. I always live lightly, use no more than I need and am permitted to use, and I leave no trace. Thank you for your trust. Daniel

About: I’ve worked at 2 doggy daycares in the last few years where we did boarding. I’ve also worked in a cat boarding facility and have worked at pet stores for about 5-6 years. I was trusted with cleaning up after and giving medications to pets that needed it. I’m currently working part time in Freeport so I’ll have plenty of time to take care of your pets and spend time with them and take them on walks depending on weather. I live in a wooded area with access to tie outs so your pets and I could sit outside on good days and play. I have an extra room in the house where I can easily board your pet but would require you to bring a crate if they’re crate trained depending on the size of the pet. I do have two crates available that I could use if you’re unable to bring their crate. I have 2 cats in the household along with my fiance so they would have to be cat and man friendly.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newcastle. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
