We had a weekend trip planned and didn't know what we were going to do about our pets. I'm so glad my wife found Rover and through them, Meagan. Meagan is absolutely wonderful and our dog and 3 cats were very well cared for. I'm so glad she stayed in our home and she did an excellent job. We will definitely schedule with her again. We couldn't ask for a better person. She's A+++++ Our animals love her.

Evie loved our girls as if they were her own. She sent lots of pics and videos and we could tell our girls were so very happy in her care. One of our pups was a new rescue and is extremely timid, anxious, and afraid and Evie made her feel safe and we came home to her feeling safe which was such a blessing. Our home was in perfect shape when we returned Would highly recommend Evie to take care of your pets - she’s fantastic!

We couldn’t be happier with the care our dogs received! From the moment we met, it was clear our pup was in great hands. We received regular updates, photos, and messages that gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s obvious she genuinely cares about the animals they watch. We will absolutely book with them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of our furry family members!

About: I was raised with animals my whole life. I communicate often and send photos, and real time media as often as a client would like, I am trustworthy, and reliable, I am comfortable administering some medications if needed, I am comfortable being a pet taxi to appointments and parks. I love pampering animals. I am a massage therapist and the animals I have cared for...love massages! I am actively seeking Animal CPR classes. I am a advocate for all animals. I have volunteered with different programs helping animals to get medicine, toys, food, and shelter. I work part time as a massage therapist daily. If im not at work then I am around my cat playing or my family/friends pets playing, getting animal cuddles, and resting. But mostly playing! When my dog was still here on earth we went out minimum 5 walks/daily. She was full of energy and the most loving and loyal.. We walked miles when it was cooler out...on hot days we limited walks to protect her from heat illnesses. When it was cold we shortened the walks and she went to daycare or we played inside. She was always with a harness. My other home is fenced in. However, I ALWAYS have eyes on my animals or im out there with them. I have in home and outdoor cameras. My cat is allowed to sit on private porch and birdwatch or hunt...she has access in and out.. as long as im next to her. I only allow this at home. Not with clients. I follow directions from clients..Cat has a leash as well. Ive raised my cat since she was born. She is high energy as well.

About: I’ve been caring for animals for years and have experience with both cats and dogs of various ages, sizes, and personalities. I currently have a cat of my own and regularly volunteer with animal shelters, which has given me experience working with animals that need patience, attention, and individualized care. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away, and I treat every pet as if they were my own. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, feeding, medication administration, or simply companionship, I’m committed to providing reliable and loving care. I work full-time during the week, but pet care easily fits into my daily routine. I’m available for morning visits before work and can provide care again after 4:00 PM on weekdays. I also have greater flexibility on evenings and weekends. As a pet owner and animal lover, caring for animals is already a regular part of my life, and I’m committed to making sure each pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, affection, and consistent care while their owners are away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and specific needs so I can provide individualized care. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home or during a visit, I follow all instructions carefully, maintain a clean and secure environment, and ensure pets receive plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is in good hands.

About: Growing up me and my family have always had multiple dogs, cats, horses, ferrets, and even hamsters, I was always begging for another animal. My parents had told me if I get this animal I have to take good care of it, so from a young age I have had experience taking care of multiple animals at once, making sure they were fed, walked and properly played with and taken care of! In highschool and college I have had friends and family ask me to take care of their pet while they’re away on a trip so I already have experience either taking an animal in for a day or two or showing up to their house to feed, water, walk and play with the animal. I work around 27-30 hours a week. So during the week most days I am free until 11-noon and then on my break at work I would be able to stop by and finally when I get off work around 7-8 I am free for the rest of the night. I rarely work work Thursday, Saturday or Sunday so those days I will be completely free! I do not have any pets at the moment. My lease does not allow me to have pets. Whenever I was living back home I always made sure I fed my cats and dogs on time and always made sure I had time to play with them so I can make them as happy as they make me!

About: I started taking care of our new family Collie puppy, Chelsea, when I was 10 years old. What started out as me just "Making sure the dog has food and water," per my dad's old saying to get us to help take care of Chelsea. Grew into me not only doing that but brushing, walking, training, bathing, giving medications. I was also the one to take care of Chelsea in her last years. When I moved out my husband and I came back and brought her to Georgia with us. So I was in charge of her vet care then and when her hips got bad helping her up and down the apartment stairs. I was also the last family member to be with her when she had an event that ended up having her put down over. Chelsea was the pup that made me love taking care of dogs. Since her passing I have had dogs in our household, expect when we weren't allowed to have them because of where we were living. But even then I was still helping to care for them. I had fostered my mother-in-law's dog, Sheba, and got her better with rules of living in a home. Kennel and house broken. I got her to not be bored and chew on shoes. My mother-in-law was happy when Sheba came home a changed pup. Then there was Zoey. She was my husband's and mine but we couldn't keep her when we moved home. She went to be a "service" to my friend's dad who was battling cancer and he loved dogs. My friend's mom always complimented Zoey on her manners and how smart she was. I now have my pup Rinne, who is a GSD. He is smart and stubborn. He's the one that is going to test me every time I turn around. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. He's a good pup. They were all good pups. Over the years with the dogs that I have had in my life each has brought on a different set of skills needed for them. All dogs are not the same and should never been seen that way they are just like us. I am currently a stay at home mom who is going back to school (online classes). I have a 13-year-old son who is homeschooled through Indiana Connections academy and plays travel hockey. I will say right now that I am open to whenever on the times. However, once we have the schedule for practices and games I will have to change my availability. I will also keep on top of any changes that I need to make to my schedule and alert any client when needed. I will make sure they will have a clean water bowl, no nasty water or film on the bottom of the bowl. I will also take time to play with them if that is what they want. I will love on them if they need the reassurance that they are not alone. I will take them out either on a leash or in a fenced in yard, so they can stretch their legs and smell all the smells. I will also carry on a conversation with them (it's what I do with my own pup a lot.) Also, if you have a feeding schedule I have no problem following that. If they eat wet food I will wash out the bowl before the next feeding.

FAQs for House Sitting - Newburgh

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Newburgh on Rover is $37.74 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 94 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Newburgh. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newburgh walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newburgh maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newburgh choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
