About: Are you a good boy or girl? Do you enjoy a nice frolic in the field just like the rest of us? Are you addicted to belly rubs? If so, (or even if not) let me take care of you! Growing up in the country I've had a lifetime experience caring for all sorts of creatures, but mainly with those that 'woof' or 'meow.' Due to my loving nature of these four-legged animals, I've encountered many interactions and play dates with dogs of all shapes and sizes. As a former teacher, I know the importance of using a firm voice and using visual gesture cues to communicate with another kind (jk I LOVE children as well.) I don't mean to brag, but I'd like to think I was built to be a great dog walker with being 6'1 and all. Plus, who likes to RUN?! Ready, set, let's go! Although I love having a ball with some barkers, I currently spoil and cuddle with two perfect purr-ers in my household on a daily basis. Please give me an opportunity to make you wag that tail like nobody's business!

About: I’m a dog trainer and have worked professionally with dogs for 4 years. I specialize in therapy dogs, but train basic obedience, help with reactivity, and have trained task based service dogs. I currently am available Monday through Thursday every morning (after 1am and before 1pm) and all day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (midnight to midnight) I have a friendly dog and an unbothered cat. I work with animals professionally so pet care is extremely important to me and I take it very seriously.

“I highly recommend Samantha. She was very diligent in caring for a somewhat complicated schedule for several types of animals. When we returned the animals were happy and well cared for. She also house sat for us. She is very respectful of our property and the house was left in immaculate condition! We could not have been more pleased and it is such a relief to have someone we can trust with our animals and our home. Hire Samantha! You will not be disappointed.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for 3 years and have always loved animals. I’ve cared for everything from fish and small pets to dogs, cats, and horses. I’m comfortable giving medications and handling feeding routines, and I always make sure to clean up after pets while keeping them safe, comfortable, and happy. I also volunteer at the animal shelter weekly as of September. I work full-time with a schedule that has me out early everyday, which allows me to plan reliable care for dogs. I’m available for afternoon and evening walks, feedings, playtime, and check-ins, and I’m fully present during evenings and weekends. Pet sitting is something I truly enjoy, and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I’ve always loved animals and hope to foster in the future, but for now pet sitting allows me to give animals the care, patience, and kindness they deserve. I’m calm, dependable, and treat every pet as if they were my own. I take pride in being reliable, respectful of homes, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs. I’m 19 years old and genuinely love what I do

About: I had German Shepherds, Welsh Corgis, a Jindo, and a mixed-breed dog back in Korea, and all of them were well trained. When I meet a new dog, I try to become their friend by making gentle eye contact, lowering myself to their eye level, and offering my hand while patiently waiting until they feel I am safe. I have also dealt with aggressive dogs several times, and in the end, they too became my friends. Since I work from home with flexible time during the week, I have not had my own pet yet because I felt it would be unfair to leave them alone for long hours. However, on weekends I usually dedicate time to myself through photography, driving, and hiking, and I would truly enjoy having the company of your dog or cat during those times. Taking care of a pet would naturally fit into my routine as part of those weekend activities, giving me both companionship and joy while also ensuring the pet has quality time and attention. In my home, I would care for pets as if they were my own friends—providing attention, playtime, and walks, even on rainy days, to make sure they stay active and happy. In a client’s home, I would first ask about any rules or restrictions, such as areas of the house that are off-limits, preferred snacks, daily routines, and any medical concerns. I believe following the owner’s guidance is very important to ensure the pet feels comfortable and safe in their familiar environment.

About: Hey, my name is Bailey and I love working with animals. I grew up on a farm with horses, goats, chickens, but most importantly cats and dogs. When I was a kid my grandparents bred puppies and I would help take care of them. Moving forward anytime someone needed help feeding and walking their dogs I volunteered. I have dog sat many times and had dogs come to my house a few times as well. I have one dog myself, a pit mix named Goofy. I work part-time and am off on Mondays and Wednesdays. I start work at 8am almost everyday and get off at either 1pm or 2pm except Sundays when I get off at 3:30. I'm available for overnight stays and can walk and feed your pet both before and after work. I consider myself very active and will be happy to take your dogs on plenty of walks. I can walk around your neighborhood or take a quick trip to a nearby park. I love playing with dogs and cats, especially laser and fetch. I love fetch. I have a special needs cat and I make my own food and treats for my dog so if your animal has any dietary or medical requirements I will happily rise to the occasion.

“This was my first time using ANY dog service to sit with my separation anxiety ridden fur baby and I have to say I was MORE than impressed with Jaime!!! She truly is a Dog Whisperer and knows her canines well. Kobe immediately warmed up to her and made a new two legged human friend??. Jaime is a kind , knowledgeable person who definitely has that special energy that both people and especially dogs appreciate. It’s something you have or you don’t…you can’t buy it. I am so glad that I found her as she is now my GO TO for sitting with my 9 year old boy. LOVE HER!!!!! And Kobe LOVES HER TOO!!!!”

“Allison is a total rockstar! She watched our four (yes, four) dogs and somehow managed to keep up with their chaos better than we do ourselves. She sent us tons of videos and updates, and we could tell the pups were having the time of their lives—all the playtime & snuggles. Honestly, we think they were a little disappointed when we came home instead of her staying forever. On top of that, we had a last-minute change in houses and she rolled with it like it was no big deal. Super chill, super reliable, and clearly a dog whisperer. We couldn’t be happier and would 1000% book her again (if our dogs don’t convince her to adopt them first)!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Newbern

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of October 2026, there are 103 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Newbern. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newbern walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newbern maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newbern choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
