About: I've raised and trained my doodle River (seen in photo), trained a rescued beagle (wouldn't recommend), and regularly been a babysitter/housesitter for 6 huskies (not afraid of getting hairy and dirty). I love all animals, and I have the patience of a saint. I have never had a shortage of love and care for dogs. My schedule is very fluid, and there will seldome be a time I can't fit in care. I'm punctual, available, and responsible. Availability will change with pet care scheduling. Visits will be frequent and timely, stays will be clean and respectful, and walks are just good for everyone involved. I was raised clean and well-mannered. My parents gave me the motto "Leave a place looking better than when you arrived". This is a strict virtue of mine. Your home is your home, and it will be treated accordingly.

Bobbie went above and beyond in the care of my to dog Ollie. It snowed while I was gone and she even shoveled my driveway and walk which was much appreciated. Bobbie did a great job and definitely will call on her again to care for Ollie .

About: I was an in home pet-sitter in college (1999-2003) where I would take care of their dogs, cats, and home while they were away. Honestly, it was the best job I've ever had! In addition, I have been a dog trainer since 1992. Training my own dogs is a passion I enjoy sharing through teaching in classes. Also, I worked in a few vet clinics over 18 years where I was a receptionist and veterinary assistant. Currently, I have a 15 year old papillon, 2 year old Brittnay, and 2 year old cat. These guys are my pride and joy, just like the other pets I've had since I was young!! Currently, I do work full to part time, but willing to adjust my schedule to fit your needs. My schedule is very flexible in the afternoon, evenings and weekends. In my home, the cat has free reign of the house. The dogs are crated when we are not able to be home and at night. My previous dogs may have had full reign, but right now my senior and young dogs cannot be trusted. When I visit someone's home, it is my priority to take care of your pet like you would if you were home!

Grace was wonderful with my very high energy dog! Despite it being super cold outside, she was able to exercise him well. I came home to a happy, tired pup that slept all night. She was incredibly kind and flexible, and I’d absolutely book her again!

About: I’ve always been an animal lover and have experience caring for both cats and dogs for friends and family.I also have experience volunteering at a local Cat Cafe. I’ve helped with feeding, walks, playtime, litter box care, and making sure pets get plenty of attention and affection while their owners are away. I understand how important it is to have someone you can trust with your pets, and I always do my best to follow their normal routines and make them feel comfortable and cared for. I’m patient, responsible, attentive, and genuinely love spending time with animals. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos so you can feel confident that your pet is safe and happy while in my care! As a college student, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to fit pet care into my daily routine. I’m happy to coordinate visits around my classes and make time for feeding, walks, playtime, litter box care, and plenty of attention. I’ll always communicate clearly about my availability so you know exactly when your pet will be cared for. I understand how much trust it takes to leave both your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I’ll always follow your pet’s normal routine and any instructions you provide, including feeding schedules, walks, litter box care, and any household rules. I’m attentive to each pet’s personality and comfort level, whether they want lots of attention and playtime or prefer a little more space. I’ll treat your pets and your home with the same care and respect I would want someone to give my own.

She made the process so smooth and relieved stress for my husband and I about the well-being of our puppies. When needed she will be our first choice in the future and would recommend her 1000%!

About: Hello! My name is Leila (pronounced Layla), and I am 25 years old. I am looking for a role as a pet provider of any fashion needed. I consider myself a kind, nurturing, and supportive individual who loves every pet or family member as if they were my own. With over 15 years of pet experience, I have worked in shelter facilities and lots of individual homes with many different pets. Most recently, I've been providing nanny services for date nights in my area and every house has one or more fur baby that I spend my time with. I am familiar with feedings, walking, medication techniques, and even one house I sometimes help take their dog to the vet with them! I have worked with cats, dogs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, and when I was younger, I had a house with horses as well. I've worked with up to 6 dogs at once, all big/energetic dogs, so I know how to handle big and loving energy haha! I even know cat and dog CPR from learning online and doing research on my own in case I ever need it. I love learning new facts about animals and pets, and I definitely love to learn the basics of emergency situations and care too, which always comes in handy whether you need it or not. I would love the opportunity to get to know you and your pet(s), building a special bond and friendship with everyone involved. I strive to be a dependable person and always aim to provide my best support to others. Hope to hear back from you soon, thank you for your time! I usually have an open schedule and I’m always happy to help however and whenever. I’m usually at home with my own animals anyways so I’m always down for more fuzzy cuddles! I treat each and every animal as if they were my own (and I spoil my pets like crazy)! I follow the instructions of each family down to a T if that’s what needs to be done and if there is any room for my own input or festivities, I always try to make it more fun or loving or easier for everyone involved. Pets have emotion and feelings just as much as babies do, so if you’re going to care for any animal, treat it as if you’re raising a baby, something precious and sweet, because that’s what they are.

About: I've taken care of all kinds of animals since I was ten, I even have 5 of my own, so I'm experienced in behaviors, grooming, and administering medications if they're needed. I can do overnight stays and check ins during the day. I can do fill day stay overs, but will need a few days notice to make it work. Im very big on slow introductions and making sure your pet feels safe and comfortable around me. My own dog and cats are rescues so I know how nervous new introductions and new people can make animals.

Katy is an absolute gift to the Rover community. Leaving our dog and cat with a non-family member for the first time was nerve-wracking, but Katy immediately put all our anxieties to rest. From the moment she walked in for the meet-and-greet, our pets adored her. Even my normally shy cat—who usually hides from visitors—came right out to greet her. Honestly, it felt like our pets had known her in a past life; that’s how comfortable they were! Katy is reliable, punctual, and goes above and beyond. She asked all the right questions, sent some of the best photos of our pets we’ve ever seen, and even came early and stayed late to make sure our dogs got extra potty breaks. Her detailed updates and genuine kindness made being away so much easier. I almost hesitate to leave this glowing review because I know everyone will want to book her, but she truly deserves it. If you book with Katy, you won’t regret it!

Natasha was an attentive, trustworthy home-sitter for our Lab, Winston! This was the first time we'd ever used a service like Rover let alone having someone stay in our home. She was timely in her responses during our days leading up to our trip, setting our meet-and-greet and during her stay here. She and her son kept great care of Winston and he seemed to enjoy his time with them! She respected our home and it was just as we left it when we arrived home from our trip. We would highly recommend Natasha.

FAQs for House Sitting - Metamora

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Metamora on Rover is $26.75 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 338 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Metamora. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Metamora walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Metamora maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Metamora choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Metamora. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
