“Grace was wonderful with my very high energy dog! Despite it being super cold outside, she was able to exercise him well. I came home to a happy, tired pup that slept all night. She was incredibly kind and flexible, and I’d absolutely book her again!”

“Bobbie was wonderful! My husband and I were scrambling to find a sitter last minute after our original plans with a friend fell through. I was very nervous to have someone new come stay with our dogs, but we really had to trust Bobbie and her already great reviews. She sent us lots of pictures and updates each day that made us feel very comfortable with how Lady & Olive were settling in with her. When we got home there was a very sweet little care package she had left us, with handwritten updates on each day with the dogs and when they went potty or played. Her attention to detail was incredible! Don't hesitate to schedule with Bobbie!”

“Mark was amazing from the day he came over to meet us and our dogs until we returned from vacation. He made sure our dogs were comfortable due to their age. He also Made sure the stayed very close to their daily routine. Mark sent pictures and videos to insure us that they were receiving the best care, and they were! We highly recommend Mark and will definitely use him again. Kevin T.”

About: I have an Alaskan malamute so dog hair don't care. And dog walks are like a period in a sentence. I'd love to meet more doggies. I am currently the driver of my family but I can fit whatever you need into my schedule to always be there to help out. I clean litter boxes regularly in my own home and change water filters on the water fountains my cats have. I take my dog for walks whenever he wants to go.
About: I have watched professional trainers train many dogs and have trained both of my dogs alongside of them. I have a medium and large dog and I am comfortable with all sizes. I am a college student who is home for the summer. That being said my availability is open! I would love to spend my free time with your pets! I will always ensure the home is left in the same condition as I arrived in. I will chat with you about neighboring dogs/animals to be aware of and any of your concerns.
“Alexa did a fantastic job! We came home and our dogs were taken care and she went above and beyond and made sure our house was clean so we could come home and relax from our trip.”

“Cindie was absolutely wonderful to work with and Bubbles LOVED her. She stayed in my home with him and it all worked out perfectly. She is a seasoned sitter, so I didn’t have to worry about a thing while away! Highly recommend Cindie!”

“Evie did a great job babysitting our dog! She communicated and sent pictures throughout! We came home and everything was very tidy! Super happy with her services!”

“Cassidy was amazing!! She sent pics, videos and took my baby to a game and the park!! She is a amazing sitter!! So happy to have found her!! Definitely will be booking with her again!!”

“We LOVED having Jennifer care for our two doggos while away for a weekend. Our last river experience was not ideal and she quickly eased my nerves with how prepared she was just at the meet and greet! She sent updates throughout the weekend and rolled with the punches when our internet went out during her stay. We came home to two happy and tired dogs and she even left a goodie bag with treats. We won’t hesitate to ask Jennifer to care for our pets in the future!”

“This was my first time using a house sitter and Hannah was fantastic! She kept in contact with me and sent pictures of my fur babies. If I need a drop-in or house sitting again, I will be scheduling with her. 😊 Thank you, Hannah!”

About: As I've grown up I have taken care of my three family's pets (two dogs and one cat). Additionally, I've also occasionally assisted my neighbors in taking care of the pets as well. I am very comfortable in working with new pets and will work my best to provide them with the care that each one of them needs. I am currently in an internship where I am working full-time. I am mostly available in weeknights and weekends to take care of your pet. Further, I will work with you to find the best care that will fit your pet's needs as well as my schedule. I am willing to stay overnight at client's houses so that your pets feel more comfortable. Otherwise, I am willing to check in on your pets throughout the day so that they are not left alone for long periods of time. I will work with you to determine what is best for your needs and your pets.
“Angeline was amazing! From taking notes during our pre-departure meeting to all the updates and photos while we were gone, Angeline was amazing to work with. Angeline had great communication and was super easy to work with. We will definitely keep Angeline in mind for the future.”

“Natalie was amazing! She came over to meet my dogs prior to her stay and they loved her instantly (I have one shy dog so this was surprising!). She sent me so many pictures/updates while I was gone which was great. I would ask her again and again to care for my dogs, and highly recommend her to others!”

“Megan wonderfully with our older dog Fiona, she was very good with communicating with me when we were on our trip! We received pictures and videos so we could still see our old girl while we were away. When there was an issue she was quick to let us know and reassured us that Fiona was OK (my poor pup has a nervous belly).”

“Paige was absolutely fantastic! We had her stay for 8 days and watch our two fur babies (one Great Dane and one pitbull). She listened to all my instructions and dispensed the medication that they both needed as well. She sent me updates and pics while we were gone. I will definitely be booking her again when needed!”

“Amber took EXCELLENT care of Jed and Cassidy while we were gone over the holidays. She sent us videos, pics and updates on the pups regularly. Our dogs have never been seemed so content and happy after a boarding experience, and we are so grateful to Amber for being such an amazing caregiver. Thank you, Amber!! We highly recommend Amber to anyone who needs a dog walker/dog sitter.”

FAQs for House Sitting - Assumption
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 323 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Assumption. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Assumption walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Assumption maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Assumption choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Assumption. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
