★SERVICES ANYWHERE ON THE BUS ROUTE ON THE HALIFAX SIDE OF THE HRM! I can be more flexible for longer/overnight stays.★ I’ve been taking care of animals for over 20 years—dogs, cats, snakes, hedgehogs, mice, fish, and more. I have experience with entire litters of puppies, elderly pets, and animals that need a little extra love and care, including those with health issues like needing oral/injected medication, having food or environmental allergies, or having comfort toys(or clothes). My approach is rooted in respect and curiosity. I don’t believe pets are “naughty” on purpose—behaviour is communication, and I want to understand what each animal is trying to say. I focus on rewarding good behaviour, redirecting unwanted behaviour, and staying calm, fun and patient. I’m comfortable with all animals, even those that might be a bit tricky or nervous at first(or little "creepy crawlies"). I’ve cared for everything from tiny anxious kittens to 95lb pit bulls (shout-out to my late dog, Moose) to large ball pythons. I love earning the trust of animals who may take a little time to open up. Whether your pet is full of energy, shy, reactive, or just a little quirky, I’ll meet them where they are and help them feel comfortable.

First steps is communicating with you about your specific pet needs! My top priority is making sure your pet feels safe, relaxed, and loved while you're away. I do this by sticking to their usual routine—same feeding times, walk schedule, and favorite napping spots. Whether I visit just for a short time or stay overnight, I treat your home and pets with the same care I would my own. I will follow your instructions carefully and take the time to understand what makes your pet comfortable. I learn their ways of moving, playing, and relaxing, and I never push them to do anything they’re not ready for. I will only give your animals their own food and treats to avoid upset stomachs or worse. I will tidy up pet areas and messes made while I am there (within reason), as well as send you photo updates so you can relax knowing they’re in good hands. I’m experienced in taking pets to the vet when needed, handling emergencies, and noticing small changes in animal behaviour, so I’ll always be alert and attentive. For care where you are going away for extended periods, we can also discuss nail cutting and baths where needed! For longer stays, I can also water your plants(indoor or out)!

Vixie was literally everything I could have asked for and more in a pet sitter. I truly was not worried for a single second about leaving my high energy 8 month old puppy in her care for a week while I was away (as a constant worrier, this is REALLY saying something). Vixie gave amazing regular updates (with photos!!) and was amazing at responding & communicating throughout the week. There really is no better sitter and I cannot relay my gratitude enough, there just are no words. An absolute superstar!!!!
Vixie did an amazing job of looking after our dog. They stayed in our home for about 2 weeks and looked after our reactive dog amazingly. They were polite and respectful, and left the home even tidier than when they arrived. I will definitely book a stay with Vixie again in the future! They were super flexible when the dates ended up changing slightly as well.
Our dogs love Vixie!! Vixie gave them wonderful long walks while we were away on vacation. They looked forward to Vixie’s arrival every day.
It is impossible to say enough good things about the way Vixie took care of our fur babies while we were away on vacation! Both my cat and dog were happy, in fact we wondered if they preferred being at “ Camp Vixie” to having us! She was loving, attentive and so conscientious! It made us not worry at all and relax into our vacation. Highest possible recommendation.
Vixie was excellent! They stayed in our home with our dogs over the weekend while my partner and I were on vacation. Vixie was excellent in keeping us in the loop on what our pets were doing (two dogs and one cat) while also being respectful of our home. I would 100% have Vixie back in my home to watch my pets-- they cleaned up after themselves, took great care of our high energy dogs, and made gave our cat lots of love. Thank you Vixie!
Thank you Vixie! Vixie was excellent, we have two mini aussies and a cat so it's quite the household and Vixie handled them all excellently!! Sawyer (one of our mini aussies) can be reactive and requires patience when taking her out. Vixie was able to navigate sawyer no problem! I couldn't recommend Vixie more!

I work remotely as a concept artist, which gives me the flexibility to provide thoughtful and unrushed pet care. Since I often work from my tablet, I can easily do longer drop-ins or stay with your pet for extended periods, working quietly from your kitchen table or couch if they’re comforted by having someone around. This can work especially well for situations where you would like me to check in twice in a day. My schedule is consistently flexible, and I don’t have to report to an office at a specific time of day. I can prioritize your pet’s needs, and not squeeze them into a tight window. Late morning walks, midday enrichment, evening feedings—whatever your pet is used to, I’ll follow their rhythm. My only limit is that I'm not functional super early, so for drop-ins, I'm not available before 10am. I'm probably not the best option for an early-bird dog who wants to be out the door at dawn!

- I would love to get to know each animal as an individual! While it's pivotal for me to have information about a pet's food and medication needs, keeping them happy means I want to also know how they communicate, what their favourite toys/treats are, and any other idiosyncracies they may have!
