Being the person my dog thinks I am
Pet care experience
Until recently, I had a 55lb Beagle-Bully mix of my own and used Rover for her when needed (grateful for some wonderful sitters who were very accommodating to her idiosyncrasies). I grew up with dogs, horses and cats. My mother is a bit of a "whisperer" and taught me how to "understand what's in their head", anticipate reactions, understand context of behavior and gain trust (comes in handy for both people and pets!). I have experience with separation anxiety, dominant behaviors and with administering medication. I love the words, "I aspire to be the person my dog thinks I am." We should all be so lucky as to have the love of a dog. I am also very cognizant that "we are their whole world" when a dog lives in the city (I grew up in a rural area where dogs spend more time outside roaming). Let me know if there are any behaviors I should be watching for and mitigating, as well as any commands, etc that your pooch is used to. I work a "typical" 8-5 work week with flexibility to be home for part of the week or part of the day, especially with a little notice to adjust meetings/schedules. I would also love to check in, brush, snuggle, play with and/or walk your fur baby evenings and weekends. Always a delight to meet a new personality!

Reviews

Tracey was such a fantastic dogsitter and housesitter! She is super organized and there was great communication. We loved the photos and detailed updates and had total peace of mind that Maiana was having a great time while we were gone.

Tracey is amazing! I truly felt like my dog was in calm and considerate hands. I can't wait for a chance for them to have another visit!

I really appreciated Tracey’s care for my two dogs while I was out of town. She was very flexible with pick up and drop off, and my dogs seemed right at home when I left them with Tracey. She gave plenty of updates and photos which let me know that they were being well taken care of.

Very responsive and helpful. Took my dog on great walks and gave her the attention she needed. Highly recommend!

If boarding, pets are welcome on furniture and in the bed at my home. I have a couple squeaker toys, a little sleeping pad on the floor if needed, doggie bags, and some water/food dishes. I don't have a yard but live near the lake with lots of great walking /running for dogs that desire the activity (I walk several miles/week). If needed, I have personal experience with the patience and empathy needed with a reactive/anxious dog so just let me know what you know and I can carry on while you away, adapting as needed.

Information Tracey B. would like to know about your pet
I have a resident cat that loves people, kids, cats, and dogs and welcomes the company. I will adapt my schedule as needed, given the notice. Please don't hesitate to let me know of any/all the little things...for some time I had a sweetheart of a dog with a few accommodations needed (anxiety, re-activeness, etc) and was so grateful for the Rover sitters who addressed without hesitation. Questions I usually ask: Where does your pet sleep? Any behaviors you would like me to reinforce? Any commands that might come in handy? How do you feel about my taking your dog with me to dog-friendly patio or an outdoor event? (and does he/she ride well in a car if that were part of the outing?)
A typical day
Given I'm home quite a bit, I love having a furry distraction during when one needs a break (or bring a little humor to whatever online meeting is taking place). When I'm done for the day, I'm usually outside to put on a few miles and happy to take your dog (or cat ) for as much or little of that as they would like. And, of course, finish with whatever level of snuggles/pets your fur baby prefers.

Availability
I work a full time weekday job with flexibility to be home part of the week or part of the day. I can adapt quite a bit to accommodate a stay when I have a little notice. If I go into work, it's usually late morning or midday (aka half day).
