Pet care experience

Home full time, big, grass, fenced.

I am a huge dog lover, and always enjoy taking care of dogs. I’ve owned a number of dogs throughout the years, and have always loved having them around the house. We don’t have a dog of our own right now, so my wife and I thought that it would be a great idea to spend our time with dogs, taking care of them as if they were our own. Your dog will get our full attention when they’re in our care, so we’ll make sure they’re well-loved and well cared for. We are very big into getting tons of exercise, so we’re good fits for dogs that love to stay active. I am pretty healthy and able (for an older guy, anyway) to hike and play with dogs as long as they want. We live very close to a lot of great outdoor activities, so hiking and exploring will always be on the agenda with us! Our home is 2000 square feet, one story, on a quiet street in a neighborhood called Gila Verde. Our home is nice, but the back yard is really the best part. Dogs love it! The shape of our lot is such that the back yard is large, and much of it is grass. There are also some mature trees that provide shade. A large covered patio that is the full width of the house has 4 ceiling fans. So, even when it is hot, we can be outside. When the weather is nice, we usually just leave our back door open, so we all can just walk in and out; it is like an extension of our family room. We live across the street from Red Mountain Park, which is great for taking walks. Also, there are many open areas a short drive away; including Usery Park. No matter what, we will be very busy, getting lots of exercise. Sorry, but I do not take Pit Bulls, Rottweilers or Dobermans. Also, I am not the best fit for smaller dogs, under 20 pounds. Thanks

First time my dog has been boarded so I was nervous. Tom has nice yard which Bogey would enjoy along with the walks and attention he received. Communication was great. I would use Tom again.

Doggy Day Care • Apr 30, 2026

Tom and his wife were very sweet to my shy Suzie. She typically doesn't warm up to men, but she really liked Tom. They went on a walk and had a great day. We got a new puppy family member, and Suzie may need a break from time to time. There is a nice walking area right by the neighborhood. Thank you.

Tom is my first choice when I need day care for Rylee. He takes her on walks and is mindful of her feeding times. He is flexible with my drop off and pick up times which I really appreciate. I highly recommend him.

Tom was very responsive and sent pictures every day, which we really appreciated. He made sure our dog Silas got a lot of play time and exercise. Silas had a blast and was happy and tired when he came home. Would definitely recommend Tom!

Tom and his wife too great care of my Dulce! Easy to communicate with and shared some photos! When my boyfriend picked her up from her stay she told me she was looking back like she wanted to stay. That told me all I needed to know! That she had a great time and she was well taken care of. Will be using in the future. Thanks again!

Schedule

I am home all the time, except for occasional errands. So, I have plenty of time to care for your pets. I keep it to 2 or 3 dogs at a time so that they all get plenty of attention.

Where your pet will stay

Home characteristics

Lives in a house
Has a fenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

We have a large, grass, fenced in, very secure, back yard. Dogs are allowed on furniture, but not beds. I am very reliable and conscientious.

A typical day

I am home all day (except for an occasional, routine errand or two) and can give your dog plenty of attention. I like to play fetch, so we’ll make sure to get a couple of good games in throughout the day. We will also go for a walk, depending on what your dog likes to do; it will be anything from a short walk around the neighborhood, to a 2 or 3 mile walk to nearby Red Mountain Park, to a real hike in the desert and mountains up to 5 or 6 miles. I will check with you before to find out what your dog enjoys and what they’re capable of doing. In the evening, we will probably watch a little TV; maybe out on the patio since we have a TV out there. I hope your dog is a sports fan! My wife also loves dogs, so she will be involved in the evenings and weekends also. I love to be outside, so we will do a lot of outdoor activities.

Some things I like to learn ahead of time: We will schedule a meet-and-greet, here at our house, before the stay. Does your dog have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? Does your dog like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening? What does your dog do well around? What does your dog try to avoid? What’s the best way to spoil your dog? Sorry, but I do not take Pit Bulls, Dobermans or Rottweilers. I am better suited to medium and larger dogs. (at least 25 pounds) I am not the best fit for chihuahua's and similar sized dogs.
