A dog's best friend and trainer with a wild garden

Pet care experience

Currently don't have my own dog, so am really glad to have some four legged company at home. I promise to treat them as I would my own. Your doggy's holiday, in its safe rural woodland croft setting full of balls and wildlife to sniff out, comes with a guarantee of at least two daily walks, with options of woodlands, fields, beaches or hills. Plenty of them off-lead too if you feel your companion can be trusted. (Disclaimer: If you subscribe to the "Purely Positive Reinforcement" ideology, and think telling your dog "No!" is a form of abuse, please find another sitter, and best of luck to you...)

Tommy has provided amazing care for our dog. He sent daily updates including videos and photos. Would trust him again without hesitation.

Pixie and Shane had a wonderful stay with Tommy. They were so happy there! Tommy sent pictures and videos every day to me while I was away and I could tell they were having a great time. Can’t recommend Tommy enough and will definitely be using his services again.

If we could give Tommy 100 stars we would! He is incredibly responsible, responsive, and conscientious. Thank you Tommy for taking such good care of our big fella— he was so happy, healthy, and hale when he returned home, and that is all down to you!

Bobby had a great time staying with Tommy! Bobby looked like he really liked his forest walks and chilling in the cabin - he came back happy and relaxed. Tommy was patient and understanding of Bobby’s personality quirks and we’ll certainly be looking to book more stays with Tommy.

Safety, trust & environment

Most of my garden is enclosed by a 1.2m high livestock fence (1.8m high for the section facing a bridlepath). It was approved by a fostering agency, and has contained every dog I've had staying at mine, so the only concern is if you believe your dog is an escape artist! 😄 If in doubt, a meet and greet at mine will quickly determine if you think there might be an issue. I have a Certificate in Dog First Aid and CPR.

Information Tommy K. would like to know about your pet

Is your dog socialised? How do they react to visitors/strangers? Is separation anxiety a concern? Are they crate trained? Failing that, a harness would be necessary for vehicle travel. Is your dog a digger? I grow vegetables and would prefer if most of them survived until Harvest Season :)

A typical day

Expect your furry friend to come home fully rested after all the adventures they'll have been on. I take great care in keeping them entertained and stimulated with plenty of interesting walks for them to sniff at all the wildlife, and plenty of playing in the form of fetch, tuggy, or learning or reinforcing tricks and cues, to tire out their brains too. And in between all the fun, your furry friend will have the opportunity to relax on a sunny front porch listening to bird song, or on a cold day, enjoying the warmth and sound of a crackling wood stove, with optional cuddles too.

I work on my woodland croft, and am often around the cabin working in the garden, or in the adjacent woods. I'll always try to bring the dogs with me if in the woods, but if I see your dog would rather relax in the cabin, I promise to check on them regularly and throw in a game of tug, flirt pole or fetch when I do, to spice up their day. In fact, I tend to focus on home projects when I have dogs over, so I can spend the maximum amount of time with them.
