Pet care experience

Full Time Attention, Care & Exercise for Your Doggies with Terissa & Rover*!! Experienced sitter with many wonderful Pets, Pet Parents & their Reviews :) !!I I often have repeat boarders & most of my doggies know each other., hence no star sitter status, (requirement of 30% new doggy bookings). As a new pet parent, you’re welcome to try & book a boarding for your dog with me! I typically reserve 10% of my monthly slots for new doggies, due to scheduling for my regular boarders. It can be difficult some times yet not impossible for other times, to join my crew as a newbie doggie. & if my long time doggy friends move away, (occasionally) there's space again for a few more new furry friends. So, please don't be upset if I'm booked already, my service is about reliability for pet parents, including my bond of emotional support for peoples doggies, & not to forget, the doggies security of having lifelong friendships from living together, if even only for a couple of weeks, every few months. ----- Offering "Long & Short-Term" Boarding for your happy Pets. "Crate & Kennel Free, At Home Environment". Dog Beds & food dishes provided. Rover's a wonderful app that offers reasonable pricing in comparison to other app companies, where boarders and sitters are verified. ----- Boarding Duration: ----- Longer Term: Many of my boarding doggies stay "long-term*" 5-30+ days. Which allows for a steadier environment, grouping with their "pack". 14+ nights: 10% off Non-Holiday & Holiday rates. Shorter Term: & I also board "short-term" stays (less than a week) for a few doggies. My short term stay doggies, all add towards socialization skills, which is always a good thing!! ----- Exercise: ----- They can expect a nice walk with a little leash training for a mile or two, distance is dependent upon their breed. Occasionally desert hikes. Originally my family raised Samoyed's for show, & for 20+ yrs throughout my life I've had the great opportunity to travel Europe and Central America with many of my Pet Companions. My Rainbow Bridge pets: Alaskan & Siberian Huskies, Samoyed's, Flat-Coated Retriever, Old English Sheepdog, Yorkshire Terrier, Cats, Hens, Roosters & Rabbits. Many Breeds I've taken care of & Boarded (crate-free): Dogs: Alaskan Malamute, Australian Shepherd, Beagle, Bichon Frise, Border Collie Sheepdog, Catahoula, Cocker Spaniel, Corgi, Dalmation, Dachshund, English Tea Retriever, French Bulldog, German Shepherd, Golden Doodles, Golden Retriever, Great Pyrennees, Hound Dog, Japanese-Korean Village Dog, King German Shepherd, Labradoodle, Labrador Retriever, Lhasa Apso, Maltese, Miniature Schnauzer, Munsterlander, Neapolitan Mastiff, Old English Bulldog, Pomeranian, Poodle, Portuguese Water Dog, Pure Tan Belgian Malinois, Saluki, Sakhalin Husky, Samoyed, Schipperke, Shih Tzu, Siberian Husky, Schnauzer, Soft-Coated Wheaten, Treeing Walker Coonhound, White Doodle, White Swiss-Canadian King Shepherd, Toy breeds:(Chihuahua, Dachsund, Pommie, Poodle, Shih Tzu, Yorkie), Weimaraner, West Highland Terrier, Whippet, Yorkshire Terrier, and Mixed breeds. Cats: Bombay Black, German Rex, Tabby, Siamese (Balinese), American Short-hair, etc I'm familiar with all their life stages & preparing specialized meals. Dogs & Cats of all sizes are welcome**. **most breeds & varieties. Raised as a "husky-dog" person, and very familiar with huskies as "dog friends", but I love all doggies!! Extra Large dogs 100+ lbs: an additional fee of $10 per day. ----- Training: ----- Yes, though only a little bit; my style is positive reinforcement. Training duration: I prefer a bit of indoor leash training at first with every dog before their first walk with me. In this way, they become accustomed to learning while diverting separation anxiety issues. I work on their name recall during meals & treat time, sit, stay, loose leash training, & sometimes even the dreaded doorbell barking. Good training helps them to become calmer dogs, so that they can quickly gel with new dog friends, while reducing any aggressive behavior. Dog training is not instant, but with proper leash training they can start to respect you. ----- Leash Walks & Gear :) They all work, it's about the handler. * My preferred for the untrained or (friendly) reactives. or you can bring your own leash training version!! ----- Prong Collar: If your dogs a strong leash puller, prong collars are successful when used properly. Best for tough breeds or completely untrained doggies. (Dog Daddy, Cesar Millan) * "Gentle Leader" Collar: It fits like a bonnet over the top base of their nose and chin. Very good for helping younger & untrained dogs learn to take normal walks all of a sudden. (Preferred by women with medium to large dogs) *Slip Collar Leash: Slip leashes are very good for big dogs like Shepherds or Retrievers, wide slip collar though 1.5-2 inches of band. Basic slip leads, at least 1/2 inch thick. (Cesar Millan, Beckman) Choke Chain: Similar to the prong, best for distracted, collar escape artists (when collars never seem to stay on the dog), and or reactive doggies, yet only for experienced handlers who know how to use the choke chain properly without effecting their neck. Band Collar: Kind of works, best with a calm dog. It can take a longer time though with certain dogs to learn, plus it's more effort physically for the pet parent... especially at the beginning to reinforce their return to "place" or "heel". (Beckman) A mixed version: For Large Powerful Wiley Dogs: To entertain these types: A few sessions with either the prong or leader collar, then off to the slip lead. :)!! Front Harness: The front harness (with a stretchy gather) is also fine, yet difficult to find. "gentle walker", They can still pull heavily, requires a big pull to return to place for a while. Normal "Sled-dog style Harness" (most harnesses) often will re-instill pulling. okay for toy dogs. For larger, it adds at least, 40lbs of torque on your body with a medium sized dog. Sorry, but I can't train the larger dogs with this style due to the strength requirements. Good for car rides though. ----- Walks: ----- Heeling: The 'Dog Daddy' & Cesar Millan's heeling method is also my method, via side-by-side walking. Typically with 2-4 dogs appropriately matched for endurance. ----- Spare Time: ----- During Boarding: Your dog(s) can roam most of my house, and they can crate themselves if they want to play indoor dog house w/snooze-time away from the others. ----- Crating: ----- If the owner specifies a need for it. ie., destructive chewing, puppy training overnight. Sweden has already outlawed crates altogether. Please only crate when it's a short time-out, puppy training or use only as their open dog house. Sometimes 2 buddies will share a crate together. ----- Destructive Chewing: ----- If your dog chews & destroys your furniture, carpets and clothing etc, they require less access to shoes, etc and to be supplied with proper chew toys... from long lasting pet-ready knobbly rubber toys, hard bones with marrow (only for a time before they splinter) or kong toys. If your dog's past the teething stage 4mo-2 yrs. After the puppy stage, I'd advise a Vet visit to help determine if there's a nutritional deficiency or something else causing the habit. ----- Games: ----- I play lots of music: From Classical to Jazz to Conga & I play the conga or tabla drums as well. Sometimes we have our own dog & cat parties. Indoor tennis fetch & frisbee; which some of the dogs go cuckoo over. Often, I cook or bake, which they enjoy being around my open kitchen. ----- Doggie Day Care: ----- Accepted! Yet, usually only 1-2 maximum per day, for a calmer at home environment for my long term boarders. ----- Relaxing? "Yes": ----- All-in-all, we have fun & I have 5 doggies sleeping at my feet right now and they love being here during their Holidays and occasionally a cat or two is in the house which adds to their entertainment.

When we dropped off our dog, she was perfectly fine — no diarrhea, no excessive water drinking. Mainly because she’s not given the opportunity to excessively drink. A couple of days in, I was told she was drinking 9 bowls of water a day, which is completely abnormal for her. I explained that she should not be getting more than 3 to 4 bowls and that my concern was bloat, which can be fatal. Instead of listening, she responded that she “can’t stop a dog from drinking water if she’s thirsty” and that she “won’t deprive her.” I explained that she’s a dog. If she can’t regulate herself, it is our job as humans to do it for her. She also gave her extra food that wasn’t packed for her, specifically “Ozzie’s chicken kibble,” without asking me first. She only messaged after the fact to say she had already done it. Then she acted confused about why my dog had diarrhea, when the reason is clear. My dog is a sports-line German Shepherd and is supposed to be lean. She doesn’t need extra food, especially not something we didn’t authorize. After we told her we’d be picking up our dog, she said she would follow our instructions and not give her more water than needed. But by then, the trust was already broken. We picked up all three of our dogs early. We usually take our dogs with us on every trip, and this experience confirmed why. I will not make the mistake of leaving them again. I don’t believe this was done out of malice my dogs did look like they had fun. I will say this, she doesn’t know my babies better than I do. She sends pictures and updates everyday but if you expect your instructions to be followed and your dogs’ specific needs to be respected, this is not the sitter for you. I’ve seen her response to someone who left a bad review. This was my experience with her and my opinion will not waver.

Terissa was wonderful! She was so good at sending updates and communicating in general. We had to extend the trip, and she was so accommodating. Best of all, our pup came home looking happy and tired :) Very much looking forward to rebooking!

Terissa is an awesome pet sitter. My dog stayed with her for over 10 days and looked great upon pick up. He enjoyed his time with her. Terissa sent pictures and videos daily as well as open communication. I absolutely recommend her for your boarding needs. I will definitely be using her again. 100% pleased with her services. ----- Non-Neutered or Non-Spayed: ----- If your male/female dog has not been neutered or spayed, (I understand the difficulty booking that Vet appointment, often long wait times) Yet, I accept only 1 non-neutered male or 1 non-spayed female at a time, (similar sizes) to avoid possible mating issues. Consensus of opinion leads towards them being neutered/spayed due to more positive aspects than less. ie: Reduced territorial marking & dominance, & reduced heath issues. ----- Reactives: ----- Reactive or dominant pets, please let me know. Sometimes I can board them & other times I cannot, due to the other dogs present.

A typical day

I host many long term & repeat boarders, so often the doggies know each other & feel like this is there home too!! Mealtime is set, morning and evening, a good walk, playing with their pals & snooze. We tend to have a quiet day together & sometimes listen to music or play fetch. The younger active dogs may find a great wrestling dog-friend that's also boarding & play for hours, while the senior dogs relax.

A proud welcome group typically embraces each new dog & minor dominance issues are sorted out right away. I also consider the compatibility of breeds to help avoid dog to dog aggressiveness.
