My wife often jokes that I've never met an animal I didn't immediately try to befriend. Cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, reptiles... if they have four legs (or sometimes fewer!), I'm usually introducing myself within minutes. Animals have been a constant throughout my life. I've cared for cats ranging from tiny kittens to much-loved senior cats, including some with medical conditions requiring medication, patience and extra attention. I've also raised my own dog from puppyhood through to old age, which taught me a great deal about the different needs pets have as they move through life. Alongside cats and dogs, I've cared for chickens, and during my years working in schools I've looked after rabbits, reptiles, tropical fish, frogs and even the occasional snail. I'm comfortable adapting to different personalities, species and routines, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know what makes each animal unique. What probably sets me apart most is that I combine a genuine love of animals with a strong sense of responsibility. For over twenty years I've worked as a site manager in primary and PRU schools, a role built on trust, attention to detail and caring for things that matter to other people. Looking after homes, managing schedules, keeping things safe and solving problems calmly has been part of my daily life for decades. My wife and I live in Sheffield on the edge of the Peak District, where we spend our free time exploring, making music together, and being thoroughly outnumbered by our cats when it comes to sofa space. Friends would describe me as calm, dependable and easy-going. When caring for pets, I understand that routines matter. Whether that's medication schedules, favourite walking routes, playtime, lap time, or simply sharing a quiet room with someone who enjoys their company, I'll follow your instructions carefully and make sure your pets feel secure, comfortable and loved while you're away. I know that when people leave their pets with someone, they're not just handing over a lead, food bowl or set of keys — they're placing their trust in another person. I never lose sight of that.

I will care for your cats in the way they need, and you define, respectfully and carefully, within your own home. I'm aware that each cat has their own requirements and character, and that is how I approach caring - whatever they need, personally.

Steve is a top pet sitter! Great communication, lovely pictures of our fur babies throughout the holiday and went above and beyond watering plants, opening and closing curtains and switching lights on and off as requested. House was clean and tidy when we arrived home and the kitties were waiting for us looking happy and well looked after 😻
Stephen has been absolutely wonderful. From the moment we met him, it was clear how much he genuinely loves animals, and our cat took to him instantly. He kept us updated throughout the weekend with regular messages, the sweetest photos, and thoughtful updates, so we never had to worry for a second. When we came home, the house was spotless, and it was obvious our cat had been incredibly well looked after. What really stood out was how happy and relaxed he was. Usually after we’ve been away, we’re met with the classic silent treatment and a very cold shoulder for a day or two. This was the first time ever that he seemed completely content, as if he hadn’t even noticed we’d been gone thanks to Stephen’s all-encompassing care. Stephen is kind, reliable, communicative, and clearly a genuine animal lover who truly cares about the pets he looks after. We wouldn’t hesitate to book him again and couldn’t recommend him more highly.
Steve was absolutely phenomenal with our big boisterous dog, highly reliable, brilliant communication, loads of photos and the house was spotless. I can't wait to book him again. 10/10!
Steve was so incredibly kind, responsive and reassuring whilst looking after our cat Jasper. He sent regular updates, some beautiful photos of our boy and ensured we were kept up to date on how he was doing. The house was well looked after and we will not hesitate to book him again for our next trip. He even left us some treats for our return from our holidays. Would give 10 stars if I could. Stephen cared for my cat for a weekend when I was on holiday and was kind, attentive and caring. When Stephen met my cat his gentle manner put her at ease and he gained her trust very quickly. Stephen pays attention to detail - ensuring he knows an individual cat’s needs - checking portion sizes for food and number of treats allowed! I highly recommend Stephen as a loving pet caregiver.

I'm currently writing full time, so my days are entirely flexible - plenty of time to spent caring for your cats! I can be available week days and weekends.
