Communication with all entities
I approach animal care from a place of curiosity and commitment. I take any kind of caregiving seriously, and firmly believe that non-humans are just as capable of communicating their wants and needs as humans- they just have a different way of expressing them. I am willing to do whatever I can do to create a safe and loving space, by listening to both the handler and the animal. I am experienced with both puppies and seniors and every age between, and I believe in establishing boundaries upon meeting and throughout the relationship. Boundaries honor the relationship and can be maintained using positive reinforcement. Beyond dogs, I have experience caring for many other species including cats, fish, amphibians, reptiles, avian species, rodents, equine, and ruminants.

I let pets make first contact, and our relationship unfolds on their terms. I like to thoughtfully engage with pets using touch, play, and training (as permitted by handlers), and use this time to grow in my own understanding of how non-human animal minds function. I keep a quiet environment and like to offer treats when training, as well as offering enrichment toys such as lick mats or frozen Kong toys (my dog's favorite).

Skylar was absolutely amazing with our dog, Teddy! He tends to have a lot of anxiety when we’re away, so we were a little nervous since it was our first time using Rover, but Skylar completely put our minds at ease. She provided daily updates and even sent pictures, which meant so much to us and helped us feel connected while we were gone. It was clear Teddy was in great hands and being well cared for the entire time. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely be booking with her again in the future!
Skyler was absolutely wonderful with our dog, Zara. This was the longest we’ve ever left her, and our first time using Rover, so we were a little nervous, but Skyler completely put us at ease. Zara can be an anxious dog with her own little quirks, and Skyler instinctively knew how to make her feel safe, comfortable, and truly at home. Zara also got along super well with Skyler’s dog, Frigga, they became the sweetest buddies, which meant so much to us. Skyler is incredibly knowledgeable about dogs and such a kind, patient, and caring person. She went above and beyond, sending us daily updates and photos, whether they were out on walks or enjoying playtime together. From the very first meet-and-greet, Skyler asked thoughtful questions and showed genuine care in making sure Zara would be well taken care of. We knew right away Zara was in great hands. Skyler exceeded all of our expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a truly caring and attentive sitter. Thank you Skyler!🐾💛
Absolutely amazing and responsive! Skyler's care and attention for my dogs was truly immense. She clearly demonstrated a willingness to go out of her way and exceed expectations. I definitely recommend her and look forward to booking with her again!
Skyler house-sat for us (watching our 2 dogs and 3 cats) for four days. She was wonderful and we would absolutely book her again for our next vacation. She is incredibly nice and so good with all of our animals. Her communication is great - she sent pics of our fur-babies while we were gone but was also respectful of the fact that we were on vacation. She is completely trustworthy and took very good care of our house while we were gone. We would highly recommend Skyler as a house- and pet-sitter.
I feel perfectly at ease leaving Skyler with my dogs and staying in my home. In fact, within one visit Skyler had my rambunctious two year old Yorkie walking PERFECTLY on leash!! Totally trust Skyler and recommend without reservation.

Programa
I work part-time, and am otherwise available for caregiving or walking. I also volunteer with my senior therapy dog around the city, and am happy to discuss training with handlers if requested.
