As part of my pet-sitting rate, I offer a free meet-and-greet with you and your pet. Most of my clients have preferred to do this in-home, which helps both myself and your pet get acclimatized to one another in the living space, but it can also be taking a walk together or meeting in a public place depending on your comfort level. I have experience working with dogs' existing training regimens, including working with dogs that have leash reactivity, strong chase instincts, anxiety, or who are simply learning better manners. I will work with you and your pet to reinforce any existing behaviors or commands that you are working on! When pet-sitting, it's important to me to maintain a pet's existing schedule and provide a sense of consistency for them while you're away. Depending on your pet's interests and energy level, I'm as happy to play tug-of-war as snuggle with them and watch a movie. I let pets sleep in the bed with me if you allow it. On walks, I like to travel at a moderate pace and provide lots of time for your furry friend to explore and sniff. I enjoy working on reinforcing any behaviors that you're working on with your pet (like heeling, not barking at/jumping on other pedestrians, etc). My philosophy is to let the pet lead and allow trust to be built over time through patience, care, and dependable presence.
