lifelong dog lover
Pet care experience
I have been dog sitting for more than 15 years for friends, neighbors, and family in a variety of ways: I’ve stayed in their homes for long-term sitting, dropped in for walks, playtime, and feeding, and dogsat from my own home. I pride myself in caring for other pets like they are my own: with love, compassion, diligence, and care. I am new to the area and new to rover but have been doing this independently for a very long time, particularly experienced with retrievers and other large and active breeds. I am comfortable managing the puppy/teenage stages and all the activity and difficulties that can bring, but also have a lot of recent experience caring for senior dogs.
Reviews

Shannon was great with our energetic and anxious doodle, Willow. She was very responsive and accommodating with daily updates. We would highly recommend.

Shannon is so good with our Hoagie! We appreciate her and would highly recommend.

Shannon is the best! She takes excellent care of Hoagie, and is very communicative. We would love for Shannon to care for Hoagie again. Thank you, Shannon!

Shannon took such great care of Bonnie while we were away, I can't recommend her highly enough! We appreciated the regular updates and photos, and knowing that Bonnie was getting plenty of exercise and having fun. We hope that Shannon's available next time we're out of town!

It’s important to me that a dog’s routine is disrupted as little as possible, whether at their home or in mine-they miss us when we’re away, and I find it’s the best way to keep them from being too stressed or anxious. I am careful to make sure they do not have access to anything that could cause them harm, are comfortable, exercised, and have lots of company! I live on the third floor and do not have an elevator or a yard, but have plenty of space for long walks and a home full of dog toys! It is important to me to enforce your rules with your pet. Your pet’s safety in my home, in my neighborhood, and around other animals/people is the most important thing to me and I take it very seriously. I recently lost my 13 year old dog, but I’ve always provided the care I’d have wanted a sitter to provide him.

Information Shannon Q. would like to know about your pet
Mostly safety and behavioral concerns. Is your dog friendly and comfortable around strangers and other animals? I try to keep them away from other animals (better safe than sorry) but it’s important for me to know in case we find ourselves face to face with another animal. Does your dog get into things (are they a counter surfer or dumpster diver or will they eat inedible items?) Do they have any mobility or health concerns I should be aware of? What’s their feeding schedule like and are there any allergies I should be aware of? (I typically will not give them anything other than their food/treats unless explicitly advised otherwise). Is your dog prone to barking or otherwise reactive?
A typical day
I love to be around dogs and I try to maintain normalcy for them as much as possible. If they like long walks and/or lots of playtime, I’m more than happy to engage in both. Some dogs are more interested in just having company and I’m happy to give them that as well!

Availability
I work full time Monday through Friday, so weekend sitting opportunities typically work best for me, but I do have some flexibility for weekday opportunities based on my travel schedule and projects.
