Since I was old enough to care for animals on my own, I have done pet sitting for friends and family. In the past several years, I have been fortunate enough to use pet sitting as a part-time job while being in school and now, alongside my other jobs. Growing up, my family always had numerous dogs and cats as well as guinea pigs, fish, rats, degus and a hedgehog. Many of these pets have come from rescue organizations. That being said, some of them had special needs and specific care requirements. As such, I have experience with dogs of all behaviours and have gone to countless training and behavioural classes. From my experience growing up with so many pets, my knowledge on dog behaviour is much higher than the average person. I am comfortable with any dog, big or small, old or young! I currently have a chihuahua, Squiggle, and border collie, Finnegan, at home. I bring them to as many places as I can to give them stimulation and exercise. Everyone is always surprised by Squiggle’s good behaviour especially given the typical characteristics of a small dog. I've had her since she was a puppy and has been trained to not bark, is house-trained, knows some fun tricks, walks well on a leash, and is friendly with other dogs and people. She's the best buddy for camping, airplane rides, hiking, paddle boarding, hammocking, rock climbing trips, kayaking and car rides, of which you’ll see plenty of pictures of these activities on my profile! I recently adopted Finnegan from my parents. He is a high energy dog but also loves to give big hugs when he’s relaxed. He is very unpredictably reactive with other dogs, so we have been working on that with him. *I took a break from petsitting for a little while so that's why my Response Rate might look low right now.
