Pet care experience

Experienced Pet Friend

I've been petsitting since I was 10 years old. I've also been a volunteer at my local animal shelter since I was 15. I've taken care of old dogs, young dogs, energetic dogs, couch potato dogs, friendly dogs, shy dogs, big dogs, small dogs, you name it. I've been doing this a long time and I've gotten particularly good at understanding each dog and cat and their individual needs. Every pet is different, and I love them all. I also have experience with dogs who need medications. Specifically I've administered eye drops, ear drops, and pills in different forms. Along with this, I am Red Cross certified in Pet First Aid.

Safety, trust & environment

When I personally am trusted to stay in someone's home, I usually stick around the same area of the house out of habit. Owners usually leave a paper copy of pet care instructions (along with notes I take during meet and greet), and I leave that out and easily accessible for the duration of my stay. I keep food where it belongs to prevent mishaps, I keep my food that I bring put away or up to prevent adventurous snackers. When big dogs are playing with little toys I keep an eye on them just to be safe. When going for walks I like to stick to trails or sidewalked areas that have decent cell reception. I use a phone holder for my wrist so I can keep my hands free, especially for dogs who get excited and could suddenly pull. Before going for longer walks I touch test the path in case it is too hot for paws. I also have experience putting jackets on dogs in the colder months.

Rachel was wonderful wth walking Sammy and I would hire her again. She was always on time, pleasant and Sammy had no problem going with her. Nice young lady.

Rachel is a very professional and responsible young lady who takes her job seriously and does it well. We have two elderly special needs dogs, and we fully trust her judgement when it comes to their care. We appreciate knowing that they are in very capable hands while we are away. Good communication, honesty and dependability are so important in a pet sitter, and you will find that with Rachel.

Rachel is so so wonderful with animals! She did fantastic with our dogs and livestock animals on overnight stays while we were out of town. Our dogs absolutely love seeing her when she arrives. We will absolutely be using Rachel in the future when we have more jobs out of town. I would recommend Rachel to anyone needing an animal sitter!

Rachel dogsat my pitbull Jesse for a week. She asked me how often I like updates or check ins. That was great. I was worried hiring someone online, but the house looked better than when I left. Nothing was taken. She scuffed my vacuum but was honest and offered to get me a new one, but I don't care about a little mark on a vacuum. She took good care of Jesse, and the cleaning was an extra that was great. Would recommend.

House Sitting • Jul 26, 2022

Rachel surpassed expectations during her 4 day stay at our home. Our doggy got sick right away and she was responded as if our dog was her own. She communicated often and working through the problems together, she fixed our pup right up. On top of that, she helped us clean up our home as we were unable to get to everything before going away. The place was spotless and the dog was super happy. Rachel will absolutely watch our dog again.
