Experienced Pet Care Provider
Pet care experience
I grew up in a household that nurtured a deep love and respect for animals. My mom was a veterinary technician and we had a variety of pets ranging from cats and dogs to chinchillas, guinea pigs, lizards, and parakeets! I currently have three 10 year old cats named Lorenzo, Chandler, and Margaret. The three of them are litter mates that I took in at only 6 weeks old. I was a professional dog walker in the Jersey City area for 6 years, though I am now a full time public school math teacher. I am certified in Pet CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross and also have veterinary tech experience. I believe in creating a positive environment where animals feel safe and loved and I look forward to extending that belief to your fur babies.
Reviews

Rachael was great! She took great care of my kitty, including dealing with any damage he caused. She also took amazing pics of him, which made me feel much better about leaving him.

We have a new puppy and Rachael was wonderful with her! Since she’s such a young puppy she doesn’t do much walking, so Rachael played with her for a while before putting her in her crate. She sent lots of pictures and detailed visit updates too! Would definitely recommend Rachael to take care of your fur babies.

Rachael is the dog picture MASTER! - I can’t get Eddie to sit still for 2 minutes but she manages to get the most amazing still pics of him. He loves his walks and always goes straight for a nap after! Rachael is an A+ all around and was flexible when you schedule changed last minute.

Rachael is amazing! She took her time to meet and greet before the actual stay. This helped me to explain and demo some routines for Baba and build trust between us. During the stay, Rachael arrived on time and did every step on the instructions for Baba. She wrote a detailed card after the stay and took really cute photos of Baba :) I definitely ask her again if there is any occasion that I'm away for few days!

I do not offer services in my own home at this time. In clients homes, I ensure that pets are well cared for. As a pet parent myself, I know how difficult it is to trust someone with your home and your fur babies but I guarantee to treat both with the utmost respect.
Information Rachael M. would like to know about your pet
It is extremely important for me to know what a dog’s temperament is with other dogs and children in addition to how they react to loud noises such as the light rail, trucks, construction, thunder, etc.. This helps me to avoid situations that may lead to unnecessary stress. I also like to ask clients is if their dog has any allergies and if I am allowed to give them treats. This is extremely important to know as it helps me to ensure their health and safety. As a cat mom, I am also happy to offer drop in visits. I know how important it is to know your cat is in good hands while you’re away. Before any cat visit it is important for me to know if a cat has any underlying health conditions or allergies. I also like to know if the cat has any hiding places in the home so I know where to look for them and can make sure that they are doing okay. I know that a cat’s affection has to be earned so I do my best to make cats feel safe by giving them some personal space until they are comfortable interacting with me.
A typical day
I enjoy taking my pups for walks along the boardwalk off of Washington Street, to the park, and along the waterfront. I love having fun with my dogs and we often end up playing/running together. For dogs that can’t keep up, are older, or have health conditions we take it easy and often stop to soak up some sun and enjoy the breeze.
