Compassionate Care for All Pets
Pet care experience
Hi there! I'm Natalie - a Bellingham based Western student who loves all things animals!! I've been working on Rover for over a year, and have taken care of animals for many years even before that. I've worked with all kinds of dogs: from Malinois to Chihuahuas, puppies to super seniors, and and everything in between. But don't forget cats, too! I have two sweet girl cats of my own, and I know just how important it is to make them feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you're away. Each animal has such a unique personality and needs to be cared for in a way that suits them best, and I love getting to know what makes each pet happiest! -Personalized routine: My approach is always tailored to each animal’s unique needs to ensure their safety and comfort. I always let them lead the interaction and let them communicate to me what they need out of our interaction. -Behavior understanding: From my years of experience with pets, I've gained a better understanding of how to respond effectively in a variety of situation situations, from anxious to energetic types. For example, I often use gentle distraction techniques, like redirecting with a favorite toy or offering assurance and pulling their attention, to help ease anxious dogs and keep their focus positive. -Communication and trust: I always prioritize maintaing trust with my clients and want them to understand how much it means to me that they have chosen to trust me with their pet. I always keep owners informed with regular updates and pictures to ensure they understand their pet is being well taken care of. Outside of pet care, you can probably find me in a ballet class, studying, at the rink working on my figure skating skills, or at work (at an animal hospital, of all places!!) :)

Reviews

Natalie did a drop in visit to check on our dogs. Communication was great before, during, and after the visit. She also sent pictures, which was awesome. We would definitely use Natalie again.

Safety, trust & environment
I’m vigilant on walks, keep a close eye on their environment, and ensure they’re always secure by double-checking gates/doors, maintaining proper leash technique, or monitoring the environment for possible interactions. I treat every pet as if they were my own and take every precaution to keep them safe and happy.
Information Natalie G. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any special needs, medical conditions, or specific behaviors that would be important for my visit, such as if they pull on a leash, are reactive to certain triggers, or if they always have treats after a walk, for example. I would also love to know more about their daily routine and any favorite activities or toys, so that I can best take care of your pet and make sure they get the best care possible while you're away!!
A typical day
On a typical day for a dog walk or visit, we always start out by gearing up with a harness or collar and leash, and go out for a walk around the neighborhood, always letting the pet guide me to their favorite sniffing spots around town. Depending on their energy level, we could take it slow or hit the town with some running on the trains! Sometimes, depending on the owner's preference, i'll bring some small training treats along with me to encourage good behaviors. When we get back, I always make sure the pet has the opportunity to cool down (especially with the warm summers) and have some water, and a 'good job' treat if allowed! And of course, no visit would be complete without some pets and snuggles if they're feeling up for it!! Cat behavior tends to be much more variable from pet to pet, so a visit with a cat can heavily depend on the pet's demeanor! Nonetheless, I'll always primarily make sure that the cat has ample water available and food placed out according to their daily routine. For a more playful cat, we can enjoy some interactive playtime with toys to keep them mentally stimulated. For a more affectionate cat, I would opt for a more low-energy cozy session with lots of pets! And of course, for the cat that just likes to stare, we can just sit there too, so they know they're not alone!! Throughout the day I always make sure to respect their independence, something I find so important to a lot of cats, but ensure that their needs are taken care of and that they feel most comfortable.
