Takes pets from one house at a time
I am a veterinarian licenced in Europe looking to continue to care for animals, including those with special needs, in the Sudbury area. I provide pet-sitting for healthy (including dog-reactive dogs) as well as elderly or chronically ill pets of all sorts (cats, dogs, birds, pocket pets, and rabbits) while catering to their personal and medical needs when you can’t. I only take on pets from one household at a time. After my heart cat passed away a few months ago and after talking to the owners of many senior pets, I realized that not everyone has the luxury of being able to provide high level veterinary nursing care at home for their pets. Whether you are away for the day, for vacation, or just need a break of the daily load of caring for a pet with medical needs, my home and skills are here to help. Please note that I cannot act as a veterinarian and cannot perform regulated veterinary acts, I provide pet-sitting and respite care only, with the knowledge and skills of a veterinarian. I am fully equipped to pet-sit animals with Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome, Intervertebral Disk Disease and paralysis or limb weakness, urinary and fecal incontinence or retention, blindness, dry eye or glaucoma or corneal ulcers requiring eye drops, chronic kidney disease requiring subcutaneous fluids, seizure disorders, chronic ear and skin issues as well as allergies, diabetes, Cushing’s and Addison’s disorders, hyper- or hypothyroidism, gastroenteric paralysis in herbivores such as rabbits, respiratory and cardiac illnesses, etc. I have cared for all sorts of species from cats, to birds, to rabbits, and of course, dogs. I also have extensive farm and equine experience, please let me know if you require the care of additional animals or a farm sitting.

Melina was a kind and conscientious Dogsitter. I could tell that my dog had fun and received lots of love and exercise during her stay. Highly recommend
Melina and Alex were great hosts for our Finn during our week away! They accommodated an initial meet and greet to ensure he would integrate well with their two cats. They were very patient and accommodating of this worried mom :) Throughout the stay, Melina sent cute photos and updates which were truly appreciated.
This is the second time Melina and her family have watched Scout, they have kept me updated on scout daily with messages and photos. Scout has enjoyed his time when he goes there and feels like part of the family. I will definitely be booking with her again in the future!
Melina and her family were the perfect fit for my girls! I loved the updates on how they were doing and the funny pictures I’d get send during their stay with her family. I felt very comfortable leaving my pups with Melina and her very loving family! She went above and beyond when looking after my 2 girls and will book with her again for sure!
Melina has provided great care to my cat who had mobility problems due to a stroke and an amputated hind leg. She had a habit of urinating with only her front paws in the litter box and Melina wasn't deterred, even knowing that she could often miss the pee pad. Melina was very diligent with her food, medication, and rehydration when required due to kidney malfunction. Melina's kind and gentle demeanour, welcoming home, and competence immediately put my cat and I at ease and confirmed that I selected the right person as I could fully relax knowing that my cat's medical needs would be, and were, properly taken care of.

Schedule
I currently work another part-time job in the 911/emergency medical services world. This means that I’m not always available but I aim to make time for all your pets in need — shoot me a message!

Safety, trust & environment
I care for animals mostly out of my own home. I currently have two cats in the house. I often care for dog-reactive dogs. I make your pets’ stay into a vacation in a home away from home. I live with my partner and two teenage children who all love animals (almost) as much as me. The pets' main resting area is in front of large patio doors that look over the garden so that they will never be bored when we are not immediately interacting with them and can enjoy the sunshine (my old cat used to especially enjoy this). I am happy to provide as many walks or supervised outdoor time as necessary.

A typical day
Pets in my care will enjoy a relaxed environment with gentle stimulus. Such as being set up to watch the outdoors, spend time in my garden with me while I garden, walks in the woods across from my home, etc. Every pet is different and I am to adapt their activities to their particular needs - mostly, I love to cuddle or accompany your pet in their day to day.
