Monday-Friday I’m available 8-8pm. I’m consistently available most evenings and weekends 8am-8pm. I tend to fill up quickly on Thursday-Saturday evenings. I’m flexible for last minute additions and am happy to do a virtual /in person meet and greet before bookings when there is time. HOLIDAYS: Please note, I do not take new clients over major holidays. Previous clients, please reach out in advance as I have limited availability. Safety, trust & environment
I am diligent about locking all doors and being aware of my surroundings to keep your home and pet safe and secure. I drive, so in the event of a key/lock malfunction while I'm outside with your pet, I am able to get them to a cool/warm location while we contact you to resolve the issue. I always avoid other people and dogs while out on walks for the safety of your pup and avoid very busy areas like major roads or locations where dogs are frequently off-leash. I am comfortable with strong and reactive dogs and know how to act quickly and early to minimize anxiety and reactions. I only take one client at a time. I’m willing to work on developing a relationship with your shy dog/cat. In fact, I’d love to!
Information Maya K. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog or cat has any special needs, allergies, or reactivity around people or other animals. Is your dog housebroken? Loose leash trained? Crate trained? All helpful to know!
A typical day
I love finding out what commands your pup knows and learning your dog/cats natural quirks and favorite toys. I let your pet lead the interaction and lead the way and set the pace on walks (keeping safety and rereouting when needed, of course).

Pet care experience
Hello! I'm Maya, an independent dog walker and cat sitter for 5+ years. I’m an insured pet sitter through Pet Sitter Associates, I’m certified in pet first aid and CPR through the Red Cross, and I’ve completed a Fear-Free pet caregiver course through Fear Free Pets. I have the best job! For more than 2 years I was fur-filled by managing the daily operations of a dog walking and cat sitting business in Chicago (50+ sitters and 100s of clients). I've been a professional pet sitter for even longer. In June 2024, I took a step back from my management role to get back to my roots- caring for your awesome pets myself. I’ve had the privilege of meeting 100's of dogs and cats all around the city. As a pet parent to two rescue dogs, I know how much it means to have someone you trust caring for your furry family members. I am reliable, communicative, and trustworthy- not to mention, all about safety. I have experience with reactive dogs (big and small), following your established training methods, pets with special medical needs, senior pets, and administering medication. I believe in minimizing pet anxiety whenever possible by letting them lead the interactions, having a calm presence, and lots of cheese (Or whatever suits their fancy)!

Reviews
Maya has taken care of our dog many times and always does an amazing job! She leaves very detailed notes and sends adorable pictures. We feel lucky to have found her and will definitely use her again. Thanks Maya!

Your search for a dog & cat sitter has concluded. Maya is the absolute best, and she has been the best for our dingbats for years. When our old cat got 12(!) teeth out right before we went on vacation, we provided the most complicated medication & feeding instructions that humankind has ever witnessed, and Maya handled it all with grace & ease. Eight thousand stars.

Maya is the best!! She has been walking my dog Clark for 1.5 years now. She is reliable, kind, and great with my dog :)

Maya is the best. She always does an amazing job taking care of our two cats - both in their basic needs (food, water, litter) and building a great rapport with them. Her daily updates paired with fun photos are a highlight for us, and it's apparent our cats look forward to visits with her.
