I recently retired from full-time work and can devote lots of time to my dog & cats. I try to stick to a routine, though, similar to the one I had when I had a job: scooping the litter boxes in the morning & evening and feeding twice a day. My dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes so he requires an insulin injection after each meal, which needs to be very consistently timed.

My dog has never been the type to want to run off on his own. We live in the country far back from the road but, because he won't even go outside unless I go with him, a fence or restraint isn't needed. However, I have lived in cities where having dogs on a leash was necessary so I have experience with that - having walked 3 dogs at once at times in the past. I would never let someone else's dog outside without a leash, tie-out, or fenced in yard. My cats stay indoors to keep them, as well as, the birds and other wildlife safe but, if a client's cat is allowed outdoors, I will do as they wish.

I will need to know any particulars about things that a pet is sensitive about and how they might react. Also, I prefer not to give medications unless they can be added to treats, food or water.

In addition to instructions regarding their basic care, I will like to know about their toys and what they enjoy doing. Do the dogs like to fetch a certain ball, tug-a-war with a rope, have belly rubs, or lay around with a special chewy? Are the cats into batting toy mice around, chasing ping pong balls, or want to be left alone to nap in the sun? I know from having so many dogs & cats through the years that they all have different personalities and temperaments.

I've loved animals of all kinds ever since I can remember and have always had pets while growing up and since, including dogs, cats, parakeets, turtles, rabbits and fish. I can't imagine not having animals as part of my family. We currently have a dog and six cats. My dog, who is part Jack Russel Terrier, was a puppy when we adopted him, so it was necessary to house-train him, which I was able to accomplish in just a couple of weeks. I don't know if it was my technique or just that he was very smart!

I came back from a nine day trip and Leo was happy. Marlina was very kind to me when there was a slight hiccup in my schedule. This stay worked well for us.
Perfect - Really! - sitting experience (5 days) for my very active dog. Communication with Marlina was great, wonderful location for many walks, and cozy, friendly home and personal care for my little girl. Trust was easy after my pre-visit. All went smooth and flexible, and Skye came home fully refreshed and happy - much better than kennels lately. Look forward to using Marlina again. Kind of tripped into Rover online having never imagined trusting an online sitter/site for my dog. Marlina was a great representative for Rover. Thank You!
