Availability
I work from home so my schedule is generally pretty flexible. If I'm out of the home for errands, I'm usually gone for about 2 hours at the most. While I'm gone, I leave music on for the dogs to maintain a calm environment. I start work early in the morning so morning drop-offs can be accommodated. I ask that pick-ups be no later than 7 pm due to our kid's bedtime schedules.

I have a fully fenced in yard with a lock on the gate. The fences are all 6 ft. I treat your dog as if they are my own (and let me tell you, they are spoiled and loved constantly!) The dogs each have their own separate area of the living room/kitchen while eating dinner. I have a lot of experience in dog behavior from working in rescue for so many years. I work hard to stay vigilant on what all the dogs are doing and how they are feeling in any given moment.

Information Marissa L. would like to know about your pet
I’ve worked with animals with many different behaviors and needs. Let me know if your pet needs medications or has behaviors you are working on. I like to know how a dog gets along with other dogs and if there is anything that they can or can’t do either physically or behaviorally that needs to be enforced. Our personal dogs are older and not particularly playful so knowing if a dog can respect boundaries is important to know!
A typical day
I have many MANY dog toys to keep your dog busy as well as dog puzzles, snuffle mats, and all the tennis balls. It really depends on what a dog likes to do or finds enjoyable but I've never had trouble keeping a dog busy. Having the fully fenced in yard helps if they need to get some zoomies out too!

Experienced Animal Rescue Founder
Pet care experience
Hi, I’m Marissa! One of the things I hear consistently from my clients is that their dog(s) always get SO excited when they hear they are coming to my house or when they realize what street the car just turned down. I have grown up with animals my entire life and even started my own dog-walking “business” at 10 years old. Since then I’ve volunteered with multiple rescues and eventually co-founded Tails of the Midwest Animal Rescue which ran successfully for over 5 years. Note: I've been only taking repeat clients for the past year but I currently have openings for smaller dogs (40 ish lbs or less) but if your small dog has a big friend, I would be willing to talk to you about taking both. I would also be open to senior dogs. I have experience in potty-training, crate-training, puppies and senior dogs. I have years of experience in general animal care as well as medications, injectables, and first aid. I have worked with many dogs with all sorts of special needs including dogs with casts and those who require daily diabetic shots. We have many dog beds but you're welcome to bring your own or anything else that makes your dog feel more comfortable. Our dogs sleep in our bed and any guests are welcome to sleep wherever they feel comfortable! Some dogs sleep in a crate, others take over the couch and some even sleep by our heads. I have 150+ five-star reviews and if you would feel more comfortable, I have references that would be happy to speak to you. I'm also a star sitter which means I've provided highly rated care and have accurate availability and preferences listed to help making you find pet care as easy as possible. I have had a full back-ground check completed by Rover and if that doesn't put your mind at ease, my wife and I are also licensed foster parents and adoptive parents so we've had more background and fingerprints ran than most! A little bit about me and our home. I'm 36 years old and have lived in the BisMan area my entire life. Our oldest son is a 7th grader and our youngest daughter is 3 years old. My wife and I have been married for 4 years. We have two dogs who are both ten years old as well as a snake and a bird. If I have some down-time, I enjoy reading and puzzle books. About our dogs, Amelia is ten years old and is a pretty laid back in the day-to-day. It takes her a couple days to warm up to bigger dogs and she doesn't love to play and will mostly just side-eye everyone from the couch. She will snap at other dogs if she feels too crowded or overwhelmed but doesn't bite or fight. Milly is the same age but also just as laid back. She likes to bark at all the neighbor dogs from time to time but otherwise is just as happy curled up in a blanket. For daycare, anything over 4.5 hours is considered a full-day and anything over 10 hours is billed at the boarding rate of $60/day. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have! I also do meet-and-greets prior to a stay so you can meet me and my dogs prior to a stay.
Reviews

We were so pleased with Phoebe’s weekend with Marissa and her family. She is a great communicator and super in tune to our puppy’s needs. She kept us up to date with pictures and messages about how she was doing! Highly recommend her and trust her fully!!

Another fantastic rover stay for our dog! Highly recommend!!

Marissa is a fabulous dog sitter - to say the least!

We tell our pup that he is going to Marissa's and he runs to the door to go. He really enjoys it there.
